Hello, there! We will not be performing maintenance on the North American and European megaservers tomorrow, January 5.

Ridiculous. At least give us a server reboot. There must not be anyone at ZoS playing...or they just don't care.

I think I know why they aren't doing Maint or even shutting down and rebooting the server each week recently. I think they're testing to see how long they can go before the game physically breaks ;)

Yeah, very nice to treat the live servers as a testing experiment. Way to go to push away players.

They should take note of issues as soon as they arise, and then focus on fixing them, not wait until the live server has 1000 issues. Or they need to simulate it in a different testing environment. Either way, I hope what you're saying isn't actually what's going on.

I don't pay $15/mo to play on a test server.

I don't feel like logging in now, because I've had a horrible experience since yesterday, to the point where it's unplayable sometimes :(

    LOL
Treating the live environment as a load testing center is dangerous but they may have no other way to produce the performance issues. They need to cause perturbation and emulate their customer's experience by putting a bandwidth limiter (bridge emulator to be exact) into their QA environment.

I assume that this is the Thornblade problem that was being discussed in the forums last week?

If that is what everyone is talking about, it may be limited to a subset of the population. I know that it does not affect me in any PVE zone on NA, nor in the Cyrodiil campaign I was in over the weekend. No one has been talking about server reboots in Zone or Guild and I spent a few hours in my Guild's voice chat over the weekend and it was not mentioned.

That could possibly be why they are not doing maintenance.

I fully expect next week's 1.5.8 patch to be postponed due to some reason ZOS won't publicly state. The Monday after that is a holiday in the U.S. so there will be no maintenance until January 26. I expect that patch to be nothing more than a fix to a typo on a tooltip or something equally insignificant. ZOS is effectively robbing subscribers of their sub fees for December and January with this lack of maintenance and patches.

    Huh.
N.A. server: PVE, Haderus and Azura's all needed help this weekend; there was chat in each respective zone to corroborate.

Unless I am missing something, it has been 3 weeks since the last maintenance. If we get one next Monday, it will have been a month without a maintenance. Tons of quests are bugged. There are bugs everywhere you look in fact. There was a thread about it here and another thread about it on the customer service forum full of examples. Honestly it boggles the mind why zos would choose NOW to let the server fall into neglect and disrepair.

We have gone from 2 maint a week to 1 maint a week to now perhaps one per month? Really? There are a ton of new players in the game right now. Is this really the product you want to show them?

The only bright side to this is that generally when maint is skipped, it indicates that a giant patch is just around the corner and developers don't want to waste a maint when it will be included with the upcoming patch. However there is no major patch coming. 1.6 is going to be on the PTS. Unless I am missing something, this will have nothing to do with the Normal servers.

I love this game and I have been trying to defend it vs haters, but honestly at times like this I can't help but ask WTF?

Well said. +5 bacon for you.

Not well said. The quest bugs are sparse and I have completed over 8 zones in this time without experiencing one. Disconnects are persistent but infrequent and reconnecting every 3-5 hours if the game does crash has gone smoothly every time so far.

Uh, one time I thought a quest was bugged, but I we being a noob and had abandoned a chain and lost track of a questgiver. Another time the marker was in the wrong place, and upon brief closer inspection I found the objective nearby.

They are bringing the servers down less often because the game is significantly more stable now. What are you people smoking? I just played PvP from 11am-3pm without a single drop, disconnect, desyc, or lag spike: and we were rolling deep.

Am I the only one who experiences relatively few problems if none at all?

I get it, you're giving examples of things that are broken. I don't experience those in the very same instances from which they're given. I bet half of you haven't, either. Quit riding the hype of broken garbage-speak and play the game. Not even on my laptop that overheats from playing this game do I experience any of the issues that aren't specifically on my end.

I was being sarcastic but actually no, my comment had zero to do with PvP. Several Guild members and I are having increasing problems in PvE due to the server not at least being restarted. Things like weapon swap lag that has gotten worse in the past 2 weeks, ability lag, latency issues, etc.

This is a great big world with lots of quests, dungeons, interactive items and intricate functions. Those of us that have been playing this game for a long time have seen it all. We have been here through the good times and the bad. We have seen many things broken and we have seen many things fixed. Just because you haven't experienced a ton of bugs lately doesn't mean they don't exist.

I ran Blackheart dungeon 4 times the other day with a group that just wanted to get it done. Know what? We couldn't because the quest NPC in the middle was bugged and didn't show up for a turn in.

I ran Valts of Madness with a group at least 6 times the other day with a group that just wanted to get it done. Know what? We couldn't because either we didn't get credit for killing the 2cnd boss or because we actually got all the way to the end and the final objective was bugged.

Due to conversation with the people in those groups, many were new players. Now go tell them that the game is running smooth.

There was a guy that spent several hours in the arena that said the final objective was bugged. Go tell him and his group mates that he is smoking something.

This game has been getting one maint a week for a reason. Now it's gonna be a month w/o one. Don't pee on our back and tell us it's raining. Those of us that have been here since the beginning know better.

Some people are having problems they think will be fixed by rebooting the server. Other people, like me, can play for hours over the last few days, even playing in the same Campaigns, and not see anything like what people have described.

I am not sure what to think, since not everyone is experiencing these problems.

Possibly, but did a speedtest right away no problem.
Unless there is DNS resolution problems on the path to ZOS NA server.
After finally logging in to character load it gave an error and could not load a character on the first 3 attempts, 4th attempt a character loaded.
With all the DDOS attacks on the other gaming companies over the holidays it makes me wonder, not claiming that is the problem though.

You don't know it yet, but the last maintenance replaced our regular servers with PS4 and X-box One servers for US and EU respectively. They needed to stress test those as the console beta will be more of a showcase of what's to come ;)
