I think I know why they aren't doing Maint or even shutting down and rebooting the server each week recently. I think they're testing to see how long they can go before the game physically breaks

Unless I am missing something, it has been 3 weeks since the last maintenance. If we get one next Monday, it will have been a month without a maintenance. Tons of quests are bugged. There are bugs everywhere you look in fact. There was a thread about it here and another thread about it on the customer service forum full of examples. Honestly it boggles the mind why zos would choose NOW to let the server fall into neglect and disrepair.
We have gone from 2 maint a week to 1 maint a week to now perhaps one per month? Really? There are a ton of new players in the game right now. Is this really the product you want to show them?
The only bright side to this is that generally when maint is skipped, it indicates that a giant patch is just around the corner and developers don't want to waste a maint when it will be included with the upcoming patch. However there is no major patch coming. 1.6 is going to be on the PTS. Unless I am missing something, this will have nothing to do with the Normal servers.
I love this game and I have been trying to defend it vs haters, but honestly at times like this I can't help but ask WTF?
Well said. +5 bacon for you.

The Monday after that is a holiday in the U.S. so there will be no maintenance until January 26. I expect that patch to be nothing more than a fix to a typo on a tooltip or something equally insignificant. ZOS is effectively robbing subscribers of their sub fees for December and January with this lack of maintenance and patches.

What is this "holiday" you speak of?
I was being sarcastic but actually no, my comment had zero to do with PvP. Several Guild members and I are having increasing problems in PvE due to the server not at least being restarted. Things like weapon swap lag that has gotten worse in the past 2 weeks, ability lag, latency issues, etc.lordrichter wrote: »I assume that this is the Thornblade problem that was being discussed in the forums last week?
If that is what everyone is talking about, it may be limited to a subset of the population. I know that it does not affect me in any PVE zone on NA, nor in the Cyrodiil campaign I was in over the weekend. No one has been talking about server reboots in Zone or Guild and I spent a few hours in my Guild's voice chat over the weekend and it was not mentioned.
That could possibly be why they are not doing maintenance.
Ah, yes. That would be why its not on my calendarers101284b14_ESO wrote: »LonePirate wrote: »I fully expect next week's 1.5.8 patch to be postponed due to some reason ZOS won't publicly state. Martin Luther King JR day but only Government jobs get that day off
What zones or phases did you change from/to if that was the difference?

Not well said. The quest bugs are sparse and I have completed over 8 zones in this time without experiencing one. Disconnects are persistent but infrequent and reconnecting every 3-5 hours if the game does crash has gone smoothly every time so far.
Uh, one time I thought a quest was bugged, but I we being a noob and had abandoned a chain and lost track of a questgiver. Another time the marker was in the wrong place, and upon brief closer inspection I found the objective nearby.
They are bringing the servers down less often because the game is significantly more stable now. What are you people smoking? I just played PvP from 11am-3pm without a single drop, disconnect, desyc, or lag spike: and we were rolling deep.
Will a reset even fix those problems? Everyone is making that assumption but I'm not so sure....

5 mins later I was able to log in.
It is 8:12 PM EST on NA server.

Unless there is DNS resolution problems on the path to ZOS NA server.
After finally logging in to character load it gave an error and could not load a character on the first 3 attempts, 4th attempt a character loaded.
With all the DDOS attacks on the other gaming companies over the holidays it makes me wonder, not claiming that is the problem though.
You don't think Lord Vader is pissed do you? lol

Treating the live environment as a load testing center is dangerous but they may have no other way to produce the performance issues. They need to cause perturbation and emulate their customer's experience by putting a bandwidth limiter (bridge emulator to be exact) into their QA environment.
