Leveling VR - What is the current status

I have just hit VR with my third character. I have been very meticulous in scarping up all the XP I could and am only a third of a the way through Cold Harbour and have not finished the main quest.

I know there many threads out there but it is hard to decipher the current status form some of the historic rantings.

Is VR xp still broken and should I hold off levelling any further until 1.6?

Try it out. If it's fun continue - if not, guess what, wait until 1.6. I doubt it will change though.

VR XP isn't broken. Some people are whining about not leveling fast enough, but the system is functioning as intended.

People were whining about not leveling fast enough before the conversion, and now they're whining about not leveling fast enough afterwards. The whole system is going away pretty soon here, so I don't know why anyone cares.

In short 'Yes", and create 7 more alts before update 1.6 goes live. Read on for the verbose explanation.

Wait until update 1.6 before continuing with your VR character because XP isn't tracked once you reach VR, so you are wasting your time playing.

Also you might create 7 more alts because all alts will get a one time bonus of 30 Champion points (CP) if you have at least one VR character when update 1.6 comes online. Don't progress any of your alts above level 50 until update 1.6 is live. You will just waste CP.

I'll repeat this as it is important:

Players who have one or more VR characters will get a one time bonus of 30 CP for every character in their account, including those characters below level VR.

When update 1.6 comes online, all characters earn CP instead of XP, after reaching level 50.

Players who don't have at least one VR character will not receive any bonus CP when 1.6 comes online and will have to earn them.

So anyone who has a VR character at the launch of update 1.6 will have a 30 CP advantage over those who don't.

From what I been reading, characters below level VR that receive 30 CP from the initial bonus) will not be able to use them until they reach level 50

From what I understand update 1.6 will not remove the VR levels, this will happen with update 1.7. Once update 1.7 is online then the highest level a player can reach is level 50. This is where the CPs come into play as far as advancing your character. CP are spent on passives on a Constellation Tree or something, like the passives that you spend your XP on.

Research the forums on this, as I could be wrong, but this my interpretation.

    There are several discussions on this. Here's a quote from ESO live;
Since we changed each constellation to max out at 100 stars, that changed the significance of each point. That changed the way we want players to be spending points, it’s currently around 1 hour of play-time to earn a Champion point. As long as you have a Veteran Rank character, you will start with 30 points in the Champion System once 1.6 goes live. Every character on your account will have those 30 points to spend, it’s not a shared pool. There’s several reasons why we did that, is that we didn’t want players to be vastly separated at the start of the system. Everything has been re-balanced, trials, dungeons, overworld, etc… We wanted to make sure that players can continue doing the content that they currently can do. We wanted to avoid situations where certain pieces of game content have become significantly harder when the Champion System releases. When the system first comes out, there is a respec system that will be pretty cheap so that players can experiment and get comfortable with the system. Later on there will be a standard gold cost for re-speccing your Champion passives.

CP doesn't replace XP. Champion Points are earned by accruing XP.

from Rslam "From what I been reading, characters below level VR that receive 30 CP from the initial bonus) will not be able to use them until they reach level 50"

We were advised (by a Zos rep, no I don't have the link but take my word for it, as I was proven wrong on a different thread) that you will be able to use Champion Points on lower than level 50 characters, but you will not be able to accrue Champion Points (CP).

So in essence, if you have alts/toons that are lower than level 50 but you do have a toon at VR1 (to gain the 30 CP) then when you receive the 30 CP you will be able to use them on your lower level characters.

Your lower level characters cannot generate CP though only VR1 characters can.

yep certainly its about making alts now (whether you are a alt kinda player or not ...might as well make them).

Thanks for the clarification on the 30cp for the alt use. I look forward to having a powerfull level 3 alt lol. ...but I must say I agree that we alts under 50 should not beable to spend those points until 50 ....this would instantly stop any complaining that low level alts pre-1.6 have an unfair advantage over post 1.6 new players or alts. I think its just a recipe for even more mad players.

I personally like it but giving 30cp to a level 3 alt and being able to use that cp right away is maybe unfair. ..then again maybe they did this to appease those vr14 that are already mad?

Why shouldn't new characters created after 1.6 not be able to access the 30CP Bonus? No one from ZOS said that.

Of course if your first character hits 50 after the onset of 1.6, you won't have the bonus. That's why they say it's a one time thing... If you don't have one vet char at that time you are left out.

@ZOS_GinaBruno and @ZOS_MariaAliprando explained that every CP you gain, will be distributed fully to all your charakters. All Lvl 50+ charas can earn more points and raise the amount of CPs every single character can use individually. Gaining CP is accountwide, spending them is separate.
Like Maria said it: "It's accountwide" and "it's not a shared pool.
    Eso Live 8
    1:00:15 - 1:01:15
    1:08:05 - 1:09:10

    Gina put it this way:
Also, when phase 3 of the Champion System goes live with Update 6, all accounts that have at least one Veteran Rank character on them will automatically receive 30 Champion Points. These 30 Champion Points, though applied to your account, are distributed in full to each individual character on your account, just as Champion Points you earn are. So, if you have 5 characters, at least one of which is Veteran Rank 1 or higher, all five of those characters will have 30 CP to spend. You will not be awarded more Champion Points for having five Veteran Characters versus just one. You will also be able to begin earning Champion Points on any Veteran Rank character from that point forward.

Every new Lvl 10 (for example) character can access all the CPs, his vet alts earned. It would just be strange, if he didn't get the 30 CP, too. It wouldn't be accountwide anymore. They either give the 30 CP to all of your charas or take it away later (wich will not hapen).

They didn't confirm this, but also they didn't confirm that you won't be able to access the 30 CP on your new characters.

Ginas second post on the CS - the one, when she says you get 30 CP, not more, not less - does not refere to this. It referes to the fact that the starterbonus won't be based on earned xp or how many vets you have, but only on the existence of at least one vet character.
Hi guys, just wanted to pop in and put this to rest. What Kai said a few days ago is correct. Just to make sure we're all on the same page, once Update 6 is released and you have at least one Veteran Rank character, all your characters will receive 30 Champion Points - no more, no less. This will only occur at the onset of Update 6; after this is released, you will gain Champion Points one at a time as designed.

    Edit:
@Voodoo I think that's what it is. A rerollbuff for vet players. :-) if you are experienced you get to be faster and stronger while leveling 1-50. New players first have to work through and get CPs.
Makes it easier to experience a new class/character in trails.

Yep, that's why so many people leave the game when they hit vet levels. The slow progress just isn't as fun for many people and why ZOS is moving towards ditching these vet levels in Update 7.
