What I would like to see in pvp is bigger build diversity. At the moment it seems that there are only 2 ways to build your character in order to be effective in Cyrodiil:stamina based archer or magicka based s&b/resto.This excludes dedicated healers.I really hope that the number of viable pvp builds will increase with the skills overhaul and the implementation of the champion system in update 6.

Likely more so with the addition of spell crafting, as it will be the first real big increase in skill choices. The new PvP skills... they seem largely based around breaking up zergs and hunting for stealthed characters, so they'll probably get some good use.

If I've any criticism about so elf their new skill stuff it's making some skills work off of ma picks or stamina, depending on your build. And this is coming from someone who loooves stamina builds... magic abilities shouldn't use stamina. I believe the expression here is, letting people have their cake and eating it too.,, Though I've really never understood that expression.

ArenaNet poured tons of effort and all their heart into the small scale PvP modus in GW2, including tournaments and all that. It was pretty much a failure.

Simply put, there is no money in it, no matter how hard you try.

Same applies to Cyrodiil, as much as I would wish otherwise. US and EU have one active campaign each, with probably less than 10k regular players overall. my ( totally unsubstantiated ) estimate of the current sub numbers is around 300k, so it's a sound business decision to focus on the other 290k.

The number I've seen is around 750k active subscribers, though that likely includes some people who've stopped playing and just hadn't had their sub expire yet. But, on the one hand yes it's not many in PvP. Down to 5 campaigns now the total population if they maxed it out would be about 3000. And they can't even do that. Spread out over the 2 servers, that's probably 5-10k active PvP players in a given week.

On the other hand, part of that is because AvA has been such a let down. Some people weren't interested in the AvA and left. Others just don't come in as often. And those interested in AvA, the map is unfortunately underwhelming and does a poor job of incentivizing holding territory for any long term. Rewards are based on an individual point system, when they should be based around group or guild participation. And the map is so stripped down and otherwise generic as to be a bit of a bore. Changing these things would help bring more people into AvA, and potentially fill up servers, especially if the areas were more fleshed out with better towns, better keeps, better rewards, and quests that weren't so linear and frankly boring.

They're already placating the arena/WoW crowd with the imperial city, as it's basically one big battle ground with no map to run across when you respawn. So they are paying attention to the pvp side, it's just now they need to give the AvA a little TLC as well.

And the PvE, frankly... More world Immersion, give us more of the continent to explore in bigger zones, and more dynamic quests to make the world worth exploring regardless of what level you are... Of course, part of that would also be de-emphasizing the strict leveled areas in game right now.

The cake eating expression is exactly as it sounds by the way. You literally can not have a cake and eat the cake too. So you canhave a cake or you eat the cake and no longer have it you can't have both. Unless you specifically make two cakes one to have and one to eat.

Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

Lol, I realize, but why would you want cake if not to eat it? I just find it a baffling expression. Though it's not as bad as the expression, "exception that proves the rule," which is usually used by people who don't realize they're using it sarcastically. I don't think I've ever heard that phrase use correctly.

The beginning of the new year got me thinking about the past year. When I think about last year I think about what I did on the Elder Scrolls Online. The majority of the time I played I was in PVP. This game was released 4-4-14. It is now 1-2-15 and we have been doing the exact same thing in Cyrodiil this entire time. We spend endless hours in PVP to get a handful of gold with nothing to spend it on and some gear that is only worth deconstructing. Why isn't there more PVP content like 1 vs. 1 and group vs. group PVP tournaments? A 20 man free for all trapped in a keep would be pretty fun. Why isn't there guild vs. guild games like capture the flag or a two hour guild war? How about a guild contest? An event that mixes PVE with PVP. The guild that kills the most monsters (they respawn) while PVP is allowed wins. Seriously ZOS PVP needs more content.

    Could not disagree more really.

The AvA could certainly do with better incentives and more fleshing out, but I'm baffled by people who bought a game advertised for it's Massive AvA system, then complain it's an AvA system and the map is too big.

Most avid PvPers are waiting for them to finally pay attention to pvp. It is by far the most broken thing in the game, due to stability issues. There could also be so much more, and have really cool things in Cyrodiil but they just ignore it.
