I'm looking for a FREE voice communication app for my wife and I to use. Both computers are on a local network. Basically we want to be able to use headsets to communicate since the computers are on opposite ends of the house.
Would Skype work? Again, I don't want to have to buy a sub like with TeamSpeak/Mumble ect. I saw some various freeware on the 'net but I'm not wanting to just try some random, would rather use something that other people have used successfully.

I now have a TS3 server, I know is an outlay for just 2 of you, but it only costs me £2 per month for 15 slots, so it is roughly the price of a beer, it's not too bad, and would be handy if you wanted ever to include friends, guildees etc1 -

Your computer is the host server so your computers IP will be the server address then you port forward the right ports and run the TS3 server client and boom! Keep it running, connect to it via the TS3 client app and then your wife does the same and you have your on Local Teamspeak
You can make it public for people to join but requires a static IP and blah blah.
