Cyrodiil - 2015

What is it that drives our soldiers to behead their enemies, bathe in blood, and eat the corpses? Why, Alliance Points of course!

Do you want to gain MORE Alliance Points? I have an offer for you, some advice for your mentality going into Cyrodiil on AD:

- Join the groups on AD, like "Ranger," who organize daily to teach new players to PvP!

- Ignore the rude people (Literally, click Ignore) in Zone chat. Some of them truly just want to get a reaction!

- Focus on AVOIDING DEATH first and foremost. Your awesome theory and build can do nothing dead, and lastly

- Don't get discouraged :)<3

Glad to finally be a part of the forums here, see you in Thornblade!

-Snarg

P.S. Don't forget to put 5 or so pieces of Impenetrable trait-ed gear on, it helps you avoid death!

That's not always the case. When you are defending a keep that isn't tagged as under attack, throwing yourself at the attackers buys your alliance some time to rally more troops. You just have to make sure the keep isn't tagged, so you can respawn and throw yourself at them again and again.

The problem is that a lot of people have this idea that keeping AP out of the hands of your enemy is something worth worrying about. So, they often try their hardest to avoid death, even when dying a glorious death is the best course of action.

In short, deaths mean nothing in Cyrodiil, it's all about them keeps.

I find this untrue, people who are terrified of dying are far more likely to run in even or worse odds. This leads to very poor performance in any situation against players with any sort of organization. You need to play your role, when you stop playing it then others roles are no longer complimented by it. To be afraid of dying is an individual worry, death in this game is meaningless so instead you should focus on playing your role for the group or you'll get rolled every time. Sure don't throw your life away for stupid or no reasons... but to be afraid or avoid death like the plague will only lead to greater deaths on your side and lost objectives. Thats all ignoring the fact that you play differently when you are the last person alive as opposed to alive in a group... don't play like you are the last one alive always, you'll play greedy, selfishly, and not run support abilities... its just.... dumb. I get where you are trying to go with it and say it in a catchy way but its just bad advice.

But I guess your KDR will look nice so you can brag about that I guess *shrug*

However the impen advice is probably one of the most important tips you can give to someone new. That and that oil, meatbag catapults, and oil catapults provide more utility, damage, area control, etc. than any one single player could possibly ever provide. Sometimes the most useful thing you can do for a fight is to use siege and never once even use an ability. Identifying how often these opportunities arise is easy and the answer is ALWAYS. Especially for new players using siege correctly is easy to understand and execute even while your build/gear may not be optimized the nice thing about siege is it doesn't matter and you will affect a battle more than most players.

Are you the same guy who had a problem with me for giving props to Misfitz (a completely new guild) for battling hard to recap Drakelowe earlier today? What exactly was your problem again? Well I see YOUR signature and the guild YOU represent isn't really impressing me with your attitudes here on this forum. I am always trying to be positive and supportive of people, sorry if that annoys you.

It's a good thing I know and respect your guild leaders or I would think your guild was a complete bunch of jerks. You just couldn't get over it could you? Sorry you got #told by all other others in zone, but frankly you deserved it.

You are definitely not Charm School material!

What @huntler is saying here is gold and shouldn't be blown off for some pride redemption during a /zone conversation.

Open field siege is very under-rated/under-utilized and could be a huge factor during outnumbered fights. Drop a meat bag on an organized group pushing into you and see how fast they change their direction to purge and reset which can allow your side to capitalize on their retreat.

I may be in the minority, but i think running impenetrable depends solely on your build and role. Front line tanks and such should probably run it as it makes sense because they are getting hit a lot.

As a sorc? Debatable. I quit running impenetrable a month ago and have been critted for 1.2k twice in that time frame, both of those times was my fault. Sorcs should have 100% uptime on Hardened Ward, can't crit through it anyways, and if your wearing cloth your going to have it up all the time anyways. So your probably best investing in traits that give you more resources or help you kill faster.

Warlock Magicka Flood will save your life far more often then impenetrable will.

Don't get me wrong impenetrable has its uses, is a great trait, is very good for tanks and character roles that will be in the thick of things and getting hit often as a target. The classic cloth and robe stick sorc IMO is better served using wards and shields (Dampen Magic and Hardened Ward, sometimes stacked depending on the situation) and using traits that give them more mana, or help them kill faster.

Tanks def use impenetrable, nightblades depending on style are pretty flexible and could use many traits as they have many different styles of play. Night made casters are very tough given the right build and gear.

So you disagree with me that this game is not that hard to play and has a low skill ceiling, ergo everything I say is invalid. Logic. Funnily enough this other guy hates me because I did something similar and called them out for basically spamming zone chat with how awesome they are because no one gives them props so they have to do it themselves.

    *eyeroll*

Regardless that is not the point of this thread, I chose to give my input because I find it dangerous to give advice to players to prioritize not dying as their number one goal, they'd only be hurting themselves so I decided if anyone wanted to listen they should focus on using siege instead. It is an easy game mechanic that is cheap, everyone can use it, and is not effected by perhaps a new player with a poor build/gear setup.

I'm flattered to have made your sig though.
