What PVP Needs- A Bandit Faction

I would really like to see ZOS add a bandit faction to cryodiil. Bandits are a staple of TES franchise. The Bandit faction would work as follows:

1. You can either choose to desert your alliance( EP, DC, or AD) or join the bandit faction outright.

2. When you choose to become a member of the bandit faction, all DC, AD, EP become the enemy and you can attack anyone you choose except other bandits.

3. The Bandit faction would also serves as its own pop imbalance fixer and a counter balance against 2 factions teaming up, as bandits will be able to kill anything that moves, they have no loyalty, they are bandits.

4. Bandits earn infamy points that can be used just like alliance points to buy bandit specific gear.

5. For balance purposes, bandits get no access to siege. Were bandits not professional soldiers bandits rob and kill, not plan military strats lol.

6. Bandits get quests to rob or kill or raid resources and players from other factions.

I think this would be a great addition to the game, would add new elements, and allow pvp to happen without being an alliance member, it would also promote more open field fighting instead of fights being so centered on keep attacks and defenses. This would be classic small scale turf war fare.

Come on ZOS get it done, this would be great!

    I think that this would require way too much work for very few benefits.

    As a member of any alliance, you can still fight with 67% of the players on the server, in addition to all the hostile daedric, imperial, creature and bandit NPCs in Cyrodiil.

    This would only work of 1) the pop cap on bandits was intentionally set much lower than the other factions, and 2) they redesigned cyrodiil to be a bit more than a thinly veiled arena with a few props.

    Otherwise all you're really saying is, "this whole AvA thing is boring and I want a different game." Or at least, that's what it would devolve in to. A way for people who just want this to be a fps to go around killing everyone and ignoring the whole point of the AvA style pvp. And in the end if that's what people want, they should probably just play a fps.

    Yes the bandit faction should have a lower pop. Bandits are never the majority, just another threat.

    Lore speaking Bandits have always been a threat in TES, even during wars, they have a place in Cyrodiil.

    Besides, imagine the vids guys like Sypher, Asgari, etc could make being a bandit able to fight whomever they want.

    Besides a group in your own Alliance annoys you? Become a bandit and kill them, sounds like a good time to me.

    Bandits could have their own rank a leader board, the one at the top is the Bandit Warlord who is the bandit equiv of Emp.

    Also, during such turmoil as the Alluance war during its time frame, it makes sense to have a few Ronins roaming around :)

    I'm not saying it's a terrible idea, and I like the idea of introducing new pvp methods-- in fact I'd also like to see something similar to the ability to become guards for the dark brotherhood, where if NPCs or even other PCs put a bounty on someone you can try and claim it.

    I just certainly wouldn't want it an even faction in this case. But also, as I said, cyrodiil really doesn't feel very fleshed out to me at this point. It's basically a huge flat arena and the few items or rather dismal "towns" just feel too much like props. It doesn't feel very organic, and to me you'd really need those kind of changes first. I mean mountain or forest bandits... there really isn't much of a mountain or a forest anywhere. At all.

    Meh, would rather have a Worm Cultist faction. since they are an actual faction and play a pivotal role in the Alliance war.

    Pretty sure that the bandit faction would end up consisting of AP farmers (don't care about the outcome of the war anyway) and the more dedicated PvP players with more experience.

    While it would be really cool, there has to be real downsides to disaffiliating from your alliance or no one is going to remain as a factioned player.

    Pretty sure that the bandit faction would end up consisting of AP farmers (don't care about the outcome of the war anyway) and the more dedicated PvP players with more experience.

    While it would be really cool, there has to be real downsides to disaffiliating from your alliance or no one is going to remain as a factioned player.

    This is a lot of the reason I said you'd have to really limit the number per campaign, to maybe 200 total. Otherwise it devolves quick.

    Too many people already complain this game isn't enough like wow or a fps for their liking, I'd rather it not turn in to that

    Well bandits wouldn't get AP they would get infamy points. They couldn't be Emp because their bandit criminals.

    The Bandit emp would be Bandit Warlord.

    Also, The Bandit Warlord would have a wanted contract on him awarding a ton of AP to the ones who kill him. So the most wanted man in cyrodiil would have a big target on his back and be actively pursued.

    Once the Warlord is killed, the next in line becomes Warlord and the previous Warlord can't regain the title for 24 hours after his death and must maintain an infamy point lead.

    Bandits wouldn't be a deciding the campaign, they would make up a fraction of an alliances pop size. There are people who would just rather roam alone and kill people, so let them, this opens up pop for people who do want to take keeps, help, etc, and frees up the people who hurt their alliance by getting them out and freeing up spots for those who do. Its a win-win

    Besides it would be fun being the most wanted criminal, Bandit Warlords would get their own skill line and buffs too, imagine...Emp vs Bandit Warlord 1v1...grab the popcorn :)

    Keep in mind, bandits don't exactly go around using a whole lot of siege equipment. Bandits are not an army.

    Also bandits wouldn't have keeps to respawn in, instead they would have small camps, only 1 camp could be up on the map at one time, and they can be destroyed and require a good many infamy points to buy. The 1 camp restriction prevents troll camps, and they couldn't be placed within set radius of a keep or outpost, so they would have to be our in the middle of nowhere pretty much.

    To prevent major guilds from going bandit and stacking up on each other like they usually do.

    Make it to where bandits can damage/kill other bandits. And only bandits in your group can still be targeted by your heals and buffs (but still take damage from your skills/aoe/etc)

    Super hard mode teamwork

    What you're asking is another faction... bandits must be able to kill other bandits unless in same group.

    Though I'm against the idea anyway. 3 faction rvr is one of the best pvp types ever created for MMOs. Don't want to ruin that.

    This would potentially make it work. Otherwise you'd have bomb squads like normal.

    Otherwise, with making bandit warlord a target, it'd be like the old days of grabbing a scroll and laying a trap to farm players.

    Great idea Sypher!

    Also I like the idea of bandits being able to kill other bandits. This kills two birds with one stone and also allows dueling without having to change alliances, roll new toons, or anything else.

    My biggest thing is if they add an arena, its going to take away from cyrodiil big time, adding a bandit faction gives the option of dueling and world pvp wrapped up in one. It also adds a free for all appeal to those who like that as killing other bandits would be possible.

    Great ideas here! They should totally do it.

    If they did, it be interesting to see how many would go bandit lol

    Also maybe a quest that allows you to rejoin your alliance and leave the bandit faction too, with the option to rejoin or leave. Just make it like your adding flavor.

    Just think your with a group on your way to siege a keep, but maybe you get jumped by some bandits. Or you defend a keep, your chasing what's left of the enemy forces, and get jumped by bandits lol

    I like it! Even if I'm the one getting jumped, it adds another element to consider and that's not a bad thing.

    Also bandits could loot corpses, but they wouldn't take gold or items from the players inventory or equiped items, just RNG chance for gold or items much like the rewards for worthy mails.

    A bandit has to get some loot :)

    Arena may not be a bad thing though, it would at least remove a lot of people complaining that this isn't wow.

    Lol, I'd love to see you able to actually loot some items from players actually. Not everything, but a small amount of their gold and maybe soul gems, plants etc.

    Games used to do that, now a days players would whine like hell though.

    Once the horrendous lag is taken care of, and the class/ability imbalance is fixed, then we should discuss adding in more PvP content.

    class/ability imbalance... if I had any faith that they could do it right I might simply agree, but considering their response to everything is to just hit it with the nerf bat and end up creating even more problems, I think if we waited for this then we'd never get around to discussing changes to pvp of substance.

    Like it bandits should also be able to trap areas, they sometimes did that to raid carvans and so on, could work against small amounts of troops also not has well, but would add a little chaos to the other predictable alliance war.
