After 1.7 will level 10s be competitive in AvAvA?

When 1.7 drops the level cap back down to level 50, regardless of CPs, will level 10s be able to take on a level 50?

Right now all level 49 and below are boosted to level 50(vr1?) stats but that's still about half the stats of a vr14 making any chance at a level 49- winning that fight very slim. The best thing a level 49- can do is assist with siege and blast support spells inside the safety of a large group.

So with level 50 being the new level cap, will lower level PvPers have a chance at taking on a level 50. Champion Points will probably play a factor but with a slow startup of CPs, catching up shouldn't be much an issue.

P.S. I just figured this out, you can have a level 10 set of gear that will level with you while in Cyrodiil. I made it at level 10 and am currently level 23 and the set provides just as much as the level 20 gear I made when I hit level 20. I think that's just how the stat boost system works, it boosts and caps you at some very specific numbers.

Why not? You're either fighting a wall of vr14s with a squishy back like right now or you're fighting all competitive players (both sides of the fight are competitive).

It will not just be stats.

A VR player will have earned and spent a lot more skill points (and soon CP as well) so will have a better range of active/passive skills. They will also probably have obtained gear sets that a level 10 will not yet have.

And it would be unrealistic to expect a new starter at anything to be equal to someone with experience be it sport, work or gaming.

The game gives the ability to compete but cannot, and should not, provide a total parity - to get that you will have to level up, do content and gain skills plus experience in combining & using them.

Isn't that the point? Isn't that why people level? If you want to be top dog from day one then you would have to play single plauer games and use cheats?

Hopefully not.. thats why under 50s have the protection of Black Boot Campaign.
Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

A level ten will still be far behind in skill points, access to passives, and the ability to swap weapons, so they are still going to be at somewhat of a disadvantage in PVP. However, they will likely be closer than they are now in power.

The only way for level tens to be competitive is if they're fighting other level tens... and the only way that will happen is if PvP is modified to group competitors by level instead of artificially scaling all lower-level players to fifty.

However, the population of the game is too small to do that and Cyrodil is too large. If players were grouped by, for instance, a range of five or ten levels, the density of players in Cyrodil at any time would be even lower than it usually is now.

Besides, there wouldn't be any easy kills for the veteran rank players and they couldn't feel powerful if all the lower level players were taken away to make PvP actually competitive... /sarcasm

The best thing to do as a lower level player is just cruise the fringes of Cyrodil looking for crafting resources, treasure chests, and the occasional easy mob kill.

Lets face it, some VR14's aren't competitive in AvAvA. In fact, some VR14's aren't competitive unless they are in a large zergball group.

But I'm all about having fun and some of my guild members have joined in our PvP events at very low levels, enjoyed it and become regulars.
