I kinda like the idea of NOT having reindeers and xmas trees all around Tamriel during the holiday season but this got me thinking - Why cant we celebrate holidays original to Tamriel?
Here's a list of potential holidays:
-
1st of Morning Star -
New Life Festival - basically new years party with lots of drinking
-
14th of Morning Star -
South Wind's Prayer - Holiday where people in whole Tamriel pray for good fortune and planting season in upcoming year. Temples healing services are free that day (free respec day!)
-
16th of Suns Dawn -
Heart's Day - Valentines without all the pink faggotry.
-
7th of First Seed -
First Planting - It is a festival of fresh beginnings, both for the crops and the men and women of Tamriel. Neighbors are reconciled in their disputes, resolutions are formed, bad habits are dropped, and the diseased are cured
-
28th of Rains Hand -
Jesters Day - On this day pranks are set up from one end of the cities to the other. Festival of Thieves Guild and random pickpockets.
-
10th of Sun's Height -
Merchants' Festival - Every marketplace and equipment store has dropped their prices to at least half. (Black Firday!)
-
20th of Sun's Height -
Sun's Rest Festival - On this day, all stores are closed in observance of the holiday. Temples, Taverns and the Mages Guild are still open, but many citizens choose to devote this day to relaxation, not commerce or prayer. The Merchant's Guild heavily fines any shop that opens on this day.
-
27th of Last Seed -
Harvest End - Celebration of harvest, maturity and wealth.
-
3rd of Hearthfire -
Holy day of Nocturnal (Thieves Guild again!) also a Tales and Tallows day, celebration of Necromancy, basically Tamriel halloween.
-
13th Frost Fall -
Witches' Festival - Where Mages and Clergy compete for supremacy

-
2nd of Sun's Dusk -
The Gauntlet aka Boethiah Summoning Day
-
8th of Sun's Dusk -
Moon Festival - Festival devoted to Secunda
- 20th Sun's Dusk -
Warriors Festival - During the festival, merchants all over Tamriel halves the price of their wares. Many tournaments are held.
-
20th of Evening Star -
Summoning of Molag Bal day
Those are holidays celebrated in whole tamriel but each race have their own quite cool holidays like:
Aduros Nau - celebrated by Redguards at 28th Sun's Dawn. Basically Redguards figured out that the best way to relieve wintertime letargy is a huge *** that includes lots of drinking and duelling
Hogithum - 21st of First Seed - Dunmer celebrate and summon Azura. Basically celebration of this awesome Daedric prince.
Koomu Alezer'i - Redguard thanksgiving.
Khurat - Orc holiday held in Wrothgarian Mountains - On this date, scholars are accepted into varying priesthoods. Those without children pray for clergical benevolence on this date.
And TONS of Breton holidays.
