Especially we were told early on all that xp gathered after level cap would be applied into our starting champ points0

You know, something tells me that this is not going to be as dire as it initially sounds. I don't know what they have cooking, but I can't believe that they would actually drop long time established players like this.
This is an order of magnitude, or a couple of them, more significant than anything that they did for Undaunted.
Besides, like I said elsewhere, there is a bigger picture fail here that is completely unrelated to initial CP numbers and XP migration. Even if the worst comes to pass, it is still a tempest in a teapot.

That's the real (and only in fact) problem. That some people and ZOS don't understand this baffles me...
The problem is not that VR14 (or whatever over VR1) are not being compensated once the champion system comes in, it's that ZOS said months ago they would be, and now they just say... well, no, you won't.Edited by Averya_Teira on December 24, 2014 1:00AM1 -

✭✭✭✭✭Honestly, the first thing out of their mouths in ESO Live should have been a clear statement saying that they changed directions on this matter. Mentioning it directly, and drawing the line between what had been said and what it is now would have made it clear.
But, they can still change the plan. There are quite a few things that they plan on doing that end up being something else when they are done. The more time they have to regroup and change things, the better it is for us. Hopefully, a month is long enough to make some tweaks.

The new players should be able to diminish their disadvantage fairly soon, since it becomes exponentially harder to increase a champion passive the higher it already is. The first few points put into a champion passive have a much bigger effect then the last ones.
This and do you really need to have all passives for a single build to be viable? If you are mage and not using much stamina or stealth or whatever, do you still need all the stamina passives and stealth passives? I think not. Do you absolutely need the war horse passive to be viable and have fun?
I agree, the mentality that you arnt viable until post 100% completion is a joke. Well jokes them if they need to finish the content before they can start having fun.
Playing one of my v14 in PvP is certainly better but my v7 is not so unviable that I can't have any fun, I can get *** done and am not scared of v14 when I'm in a good group. Its not v14 all gold endgame gear or bust, it just isn't.
And I'm positive it certainly won't be all champ points or your a garbage ineffective noob; but we all know there are some who will think that.0 -

900h is not much time for an MMO. Those things are meant to last for years.

This means that anyone that plays MMO instead of watching TV 25h a week will be completing the CP in less than 9 months.
Any hardcore players would reach that even faster.
That's quite the power gap for what is essentially a system that only gives you a choice in what you unlock first rather than what you end up with.
Not to mention that the game model is changing and that people that pay will have access to the subscription boost, the cash shop boosters and the grouping up xp boost.
That will make it even shorter.
So it makes sense that you should have to make a choice.
Perhaps something similar to the mundus stones could be applied?
Like having access to only 1 line of passives.
Or perhaps a system similar to how hotbar slots are limited?
Like having access to only one passive of each level active at a time.
Gaining more passives would just give you more options if you want to change build.0 -

It still isn't much, even if you were to consider that 10% of your time is preparation of actual xp earning.
Remember, an MMO is supposed to be played for years. Anyone who's hobby is to play these kind of games will have maxed out the entire CP tree under a year.
Even less if they p2w with boosters.
And it doesn't change the valid criticism that there is only an ilusion of choice.
Aside from chosing the order in which you unlock things, you can and should unlock everything.
Having a "passive slot" system where players have to chose which buffs to apply would fix that.
it would also make the power gap smaller between veteran and new players while allowing vets to have more versatility and choices of builds.
Exactly what the skill point system is providing with abilities and regular passives.0 -

✭✭The CS will absolutely fail to meet it's objective......
1. If ZoS does not finish the conversion to phase 4 and remove Vet Ranks.
2. If ZoS delays this conversion until after console release.
3. If ZoS decides in their infinite mind-changing wisdom to leave the CS at phase 3 permanently.
The objective of the CS was to eradicate the hate and discontent players have towards the endless V1-V14 grind. Failure to remove Vet Ranks would make all the rest of it nothing more than lipstick on a pig.
Sadly there is a fair amount of circumstantial evidence right now suggesting that ZoS is no longer planning to do this. At least not anytime soon.
1
