this and many other reasons is why im moonlighting with fallen earth mmo again, i still love and play eso but they have pushed me too many times over the edge. the latest and strongest push was from the removal of the nightblade speeds we had with our armor and now they only granting my v14 30 cp for months of work after telling us to prep for cs by keep loading on experiance points being tracked then turn around give us just 30 points total same as the fresh v1n's.
cloak has never worked right and has allways been broken. keeping us waiting and begging for cloak fixes and many things to be fixed and removing our nightblade speed and not allowing us to be equal with the dragonights in damage output and survivability basicly just foolishness that im really getting tired of.

I only use cloak because its helpful to escape the block and casting AD hordes of Haderus. Cloak is completly useless when fighting 2+ players, and costs far too much for the amount of times it breaks.


However, its not the worst NB ability. That honor goes to Blur.

Because apparently the ?overly? (unsure about the spelling) competent programmers (or whatever their job description is) went the cheap route by seemingly having implemented cloak as the expensive version of stealth.

So cloak fast way to go to stealth at the same cost as DK reflective scale.

Just as useful, right?

After all, it's not like anybody can go to stealth ... well actually on first thought:
They all can (just not "instantly" and failing just as fast)

But then those same programmers are also ?experts? at balancing.

As i said before, i consider cloak an ability which removes enemy DOTs from me, gives me a 4 second armor/spell resistance boost, and also acts as an alternative way to dodge attacks(i often can dodge an incoming projectile by hitting cloak, even if the projectile immediately reveals me again).

For those three purposes, cloak works fine. As for getting 2.9 seconds of invisibility - it's a hit and miss. Sometimes it works and the cloak sticks for the whole duration(better if not in melee combat), but i never count on it doing so. Even if it does, it is far too easy to counter the effect with a simple potion. So i consider the cloak actually making me invisible for the duration an unexpected bonus

Hmm... I had decided that I was misunderstanding the mechanics of Dark Cloak because I just couldn't get it to work for me, but clearly it isn't me that is the problem. That's sooo disappointing given how important stealth/invisibility is to my squishy bow build

Once cloak is activated, attackers are supposed to have a 100% chance to miss.

Only magelight, detection pots and AoE are supposed to reveal you for the 2.9 seconds it's active.

For me, 90% of the time my character remains invisible for well under 1 second.. sometimes it seems that the invisibility goes away almost instantly. I think I can count the number of times this ability has actually helped me in Cyrodiil on one hand. For the most part, it serves to drain my magicka for no apparent benefit.

Unless, of course, I really am not understanding how to use it If that IS the case, it would be nice to know because I'm on the verge of abandoning the skill completely and trying some other "defensive" skill on my bow bar.

Yeah im not even going to use Cloak for my other NB character. I'm going to be a hypocrite and use Blur instead. I may as well, they both might as well be useless:(

If you don't have a lot of patience, dump it. Replace it with blur or something. Something that at least works.

For those saying to dump the skill I wouldn't. Like i said in an earlier post, yeah it screws up everyone once and awhile but it has saved my life a ridiculous amount of times. Remember if cloak breaks it's not always a glitch, just check and see if someone used an AoE. Sorcs are notorious for it. They just have to cast in the general direction they think you were going and boom, you're uncloaked. I mainly use it now for the passive. I'll cloak in the middle of a fight not to reposition for an attack or anything but to instantly remove any DoT's and come out of stealth with 4 seconds of a huge boost to spell resist and armor. So even though I use it as an escape method I use it purely defensively so for me dark cloak is better than shadow. For that reason alone the skill is still worth having on your bar. heck, since all I want is the passive buff I don't care if it does break mid fight since I get the bonus to spell resist and armor.

I have not had cloak break for no reason in a long time. AoE still is annoying but if I had one complaint it would be that certain skills still hit once cloaked. A few sorc skills do, crushing shock does, several charge attacks like invasion and critical charge will not cancel even if line of sight is broken. To me if they are charging at you and you cloak they should come to a dead stop because they are no longer locked on to anyone. I actually saw how messed up invasion and such are the other day. I teleported away using shadow image right before he got to me with invasion and I kid you not he either did a 180 mid rush or he teleported with me because I was knocked down and he was right in front of me at my shade lol. I was like WTF how?!
