[VICTORY] The Great MMO Face-Off of 2014 - QUARTER-FINALS - ESO vs. Planetside 2

Vote for ESO here!: mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/loadFeature/9212/page/1

ESO is currently well ahead of the competition, but Planetside 2 is gaining votes very quickly. We must have more people voting in order to win this battle!

If votes continue at their current pace until the votes are locked in on Friday night, then we will see ESO battling either The Secret World or Guild Wars 2 in the Semi-Finals and if it wins that round, ESO will be dueling either LOTRO or EVE Online.

Let's destroy our puny competition, players of ESO!

EDIT: We have achieved victory yet again! We are now through to the semi-finals and we will battle The Secret World. This is going to be a tough competition.

    1st Round - ESO 59,4% : 40,6% Wildstar
    2nd Round - ESO 68,9% : 31,1% Destiny
    3rd Round - ESO 72% - 28% Planetside 2 (at the moment)

ESO was predicted to meet Archeage in the Quarterfinals, however Planetside 2 shockingly kicked them out by a minor lead. (50,4% - 49,6%)

I don't see The Secret World beating GW2 though. Also EVE Online is a serious contender in the Veteran section.

Nah WoW won't even win the veterans section, EVE Online just doesn't have any haters, while WoW has the most.

It will most likely be Guild wars 2 vs EVE Online. But perhaps if WoW fanatics vote for ESO against GW2 we will even make the finals. But then again nobody has a chance against EVE Online.

Even if every person who has an active game subscription voted, it would prolly only take WOW's active players to win.

Considering how close it is currently between LotRO and WoW (like 43 to 56) if ESO's fans really put in an effort... I dunno... it's not inconceivable we COULD win this thing. Despite the bad press, right now this game has a lot of subscribers, its still new, and there's a certain hunger for respectability from a lot of us that may lead to a higher percentage voting than in some of the older, more complacent games.

    Just sayin'.

This message confirms that you have successfully cancelled your subscription to The Elder Scrolls Online. You will no longer be charged for a subscription on a recurring basis, and your access to the game will expire at the end of your current subscription cycle.

There is an odd assortment of games facing off against each other for a site that is named MMORPG.

I am not sure if this is intended to create a bias in favor of RPG games. The content on the web site is skewed in that direction and so people attracted to RPGs will be a more dominate population. Are they stacking the deck or do they really intend for the visitors to an RPG-oriented website to decide whether they like RPG or non-RPG games better?

Next nail biter, Elder Scrolls Online vs the Commodore 64 Barbie game.

P.S. - Voted for ESO. MMORPG wins over MMOFPS in my book, title does not matter.

Heh regarding the biggest disappointments award:
@Sypster/blog: Elder Scrolls Online. Almost everything that Elder Scrolls has historically been about, ESO was not, starting with a lack of a sandbox world. The over-reliance on the single-person instanced story, the botched grouping mechanics, and the "had to rewrite it on the fly" endgame took what should have been instant gold and made it a mere silver. Plus, there's the issue of the console release being (indefinitely?) postponed, making PC players feel as though they are continuing to pay for beta testing what the "real" players will get later on.

Cant help but agree with him :(. Wouldn't call it the biggest disappointment though, Wildstar was way worse 8D

What is the problem with Wildstar? I guessed it would have some problems as it targeted WOW players who mostly would return to WOW then out of content but it looks like its far worse problems.

Arcage sounds simple F2P+ greed, I remember beta access was sold and was as expensive as physical imperial while the game itself was F2P :)
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Pretty damned funny that WoW is losing to Lotro. Could be wow haters voting for spite, or it could be that WoW just retains subs even though its own player base understands how outdated and watered down it has become. It's remarkable either way.

You could say that about any game on this list.

And at least lotro still makes you earn things. WoW gives everything to everyone on a silver platter these days. There is absolutely zero challenge in any phase of the game anymore. Doesn't surprise me at all that it's losing. It was a monster for a decade, and is still going strong, but it's just not all that anymore. Just because it has the most subs doesn't mean it's the best game. And that is what the vote is for.

I know. It's hard to argue with their business model, but I don't think most WoW players seem to care that much about these polls. That's what I meant. That said, you are probably right that there is a good number of people who just want to see WoW lose that vote against them every round.

Edit: And it's awesome all of the RP and community events they do in LotRO. For a game that talks about "immersion", the people at ZOS could really learn a lesson from Turbine in that regard.

Speaking of MMORPG.com, ESO's user rating on there has been raised from a 7.9 to a solid 8/10!
It will certainly deserve a good 10/10 once the game is finished and the Champion/Justice systems are in place!

I'm not surprised about LOTRO beating WoW. For everything that happened in LOTRO before this past year with the Helm's Deep garbage/crap, LOTRO was easily one of the best themed MMOs with perhaps the best community I've ever been a part of. The gameplay while maybe not the best, is still very solid, and the world building is amazingly accurate to the Lore. The fact that they haven't produced any quality content for the past 18 months hurts the game and caused me to stop subscribing and come over here, but wow LOTRO used to be REALLY REALLY good.
