Bascally this....
Yesterday i've done the 2° tank in the manticora fight ( i've got ot do it my guild needed even if i dont like trials) while i culd handle even as a wherewolf the
first phase where the big guy spam poison and the first stomp
whitout any damage, when it comes the time to follow one of the tree groups dowstairs the serpent image deal to me crazy damage (the light +heavy attak) i cannot hope to survive the cone aoe (i now how doge it).
Currently i'm at 3.4k healt (i can increase it to 3.6) with the figthers guild rune and the razor armor i can go at 3.6 armor and 3.someting spell resist.
I use 5 heavy 2 light 4 death' wind 5 hist bark and the unassaible jewellery (with 2 block mitigation enchant and 1 with stamina regen, the lord mundus and my 2bars has been setted by a veteran of trials who have already done the SO.
I dont want to buy the footman since i'm a homeless in game.... Any advice?

Btw SO feels different from other trials and till now i like the mecanics!

Just move out of the cone? It is not 360 Degrees >.>

And try to use Footman set because you get 10% extra dmg Mitigation.
In addition, if you boost yourself with:
    Protection Circle
    Bone Shield
Combat prayer ( From the Healer, if he doesnt use that the healer is a rtard bc it also boosts dmg by 11%)

If you are a templar: Rune focus boosts healing taken and armor
If you are a DK: use the armor buff.

And i am sure you can survive that hit with all these buffs. Though it is really easy to move out of it. It is not AA where you just stand and take allt he dmg

The fight is healer heavy, its his job to keep you up, you just need to mitigate as much as possible. That is why the footman is recommended.

Do a couple of DSA runs and you will probably get the pieces you need (or at least someone in the group will get it, so go with people willing to share loot that is suitable for other members of group).

Again for the other people going down with you, there should be some defensives e.g. Nova's, Veil of Blades.

Assuming your group is quite new to the content, stuff like Nightblade Shades etc will also help; it's something our group used when we first started getting used to the content.

Yes it was our first run in SO but wile i avoid trials the rest of my guildmates are on the top 100 evry week. We have manage to take down the thief downstair to the 40-20% most of the times but then we got poted upstair because the other 8 man group whiped.
I whill thell them this advice but while we have tree tamplar heal 1 each group the dps set up is quite casual so no nightblades in all groups and this can be a problem.
We have 1 nightblade in one group and 1 near the boss (melee dps) so the melee usually go down with the main tank and i take the manticora aggro so is 1 on tree for me to have a nightblade in a group.....
I cannot generate enought ultimate to have the magma shell active evry time even as a werewolf and with the passive ultimate regen.
Today i spam a little in the zone chat to farm some footman piece since my guild is active on the evening and i can log in only on the afternoon.
    Thanks

Well, you need to save up some gold then, or earn these pieces yourself:

    5-piece Footman's Fortune
    5-piece Hist Bark
    2-piece Blood Spawn

    Win.

.......... I have the blood spawn mask but the shoulders are hard to get....... Yesterday i've dropped my second skoria set pretty useless if i go as a tank.........
Even the harverster set can be a good one....

Pretty much what he said. Shouldn't be a problem for a healer or even someone spaming Healing Springs on you to make you survive downstairs.

The only real issue is if you're tanking manticora & you get pulled downstairs, the bleeding debuff deals toons of damage which must be healed quickly if you don't want to die (best to send a templar with BOL and not have your party crazy spam spell symmetry when they go down with you if that happens).

Other than that, if you're reaaally taking that much damage you could try having full 7P Heavy Armor & switch to warlock or healer jewelry for the magicka regen. I tanked the serpent downstairs once with it because the tank didn't go down, and except for the part when I didn't dodge the poison, I was ok dmg wise with 5 hist bark & 4 death Wind.

I prefer Scourge Harvester to Blood Spawn. The beam effect is too nice to pass.

Just go do VDSA runs for the healer or footman pieces if you don't have warlock :). If you're doing Sanctum with your guild you should have at least 3 people in that group able to clear VDSA else really no point in trying sanctum.
