Dragon Knights are awesome

As I am sitting awaiting some word on whether my Templar will ever be able to compete as a caster DPS, I have begun playing a pure Dunmer Caster Dragon Knight. And honestly, I highly recommend to anybody who doesn't have one to do it.

I am only level 10 but it's already amazing to have access to the skill loadouts that they have. It's downright astonishing. I don't even get hit. You can kite things with Talons and Warmth essentially endlessly. Mix in Stone Fist and Spiked Armor and you have this incredible toolset where, even when you don't have Dragon Blood or Igneous Shield yet, you essentially have a direct answer to every single situation.

But I think the biggest benefit is the animations of the class skills themselves. Compared to animation cancelling on a Templar, DK's feel so much more responsive and much, much, much more fluid. Almost like the class has a higher priority in server-client response. I know that can't be true, but it's incredible how much damage this little guy is putting out already, holding nearly 200 DPS on boss fights with a mixture of unmorphed Searing Strike, Force Pulse, and Heavy Attacks.

I went in with 2 level 8s and a level 9 (I was level 9) into the first 3 dungeons and didn't have a tank. We didn't need one. We simply beat the crap out of everything while they were locked in Talons or shackled to my Standard. And Spiked Armor (even in full Light) had me essentially armor capped. I didn't even need a taunt. I did so much damage everything hated my guts.

Compared to leveling my Templar, it's like a knife through hot butter, not being anywhere near as boring as Sweep Spam or sitting there getting beat on and being expected to heal through it.

It's amazing. And I haven't even unlocked the really strong defensive CD's yet.

I'm literally rejuvenated. I feel like I just went from watching movies on a Beta Max to an 8K Blu Ray player.

bleh templar leveling with the correct skills is as easy as DK leveling, some say it's even more easy.

But yeah, DKs are AWESOME 8-)

DKs are ridiculous. Add on vamp and you have 80% of pvp in Cyrodiil.

Dont talk like that...you will get flamed by the DK community.....giving out their secrets....you forgot ONE essential part. S&B! DK+S&B+Vamp='s why bother :P

I don't mean to say it's not effective. Leveling my Templar was very, very effective. The issue was that it was so much the same thing over and over, essentially pulling 5-6 and spamming sweep again and again.

It took me a little bit to realize that everything else was essentially a complete and total waste of Magicka while leveling.

This is much cooler because if you get tired of Heavy > Grip/Heavy > Searing/Heavy > dead you can also pull a ton, talons them all, and use AoE weapon abilities to nuke them to hell in a fantastic display of explosive flaming goodness.

Yeah that's the plan. I hate Vampires, but the passives are too good to pass up and while I don't care about PVP at all because of the fact that it's almost too laggy to take seriously in competitive play, the added survivability provided by Swarm will be downright amazing.

I hate vampires (and the be-like-everyone-else mentality). I have not become vampire on any of my characters. I don't see why you can't either.

The only good thing about 80% of pvp being vampires is that they are so easy to kill from range now. And that is fun for us non vamp/WWs.

Well then enjoy sitting there with your analog Templar. Has nothing to do with be like everyone else.

There's 2 slots that aren't DPS available for Trials. By the time I hit 50 there won't be a need to grind the Vet zones other than casually when I feel like it and I will be able to compete for the vast majority of slots that are available for Trials.

    Simple math, friend-o.

tell that to the countless DK Vamps running around spamming batswarm like it is a regular skill.

If something (in this case DK/S&B/Vamp combo) is far too good of a combo and people notice it, they will all flock to it. This can clearly be seen if you venture into pvp (thornblade) for longer then five minutes and witness a large scale fight. Enjoy the wings shields and flying bats :P

Beware, nerf is coming, something like this :)

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

That class, and some of the other class skills/ abilities killed the game for me.

    Oh, come on!
At lvl 10 a templar can use light armor put Puncturing Sweep on his bar and ignore all other skills until they reach lvl50 while melting everything in their path. I am not saying that DKs are not awesome as caster end game dps especially if they are Dunmer but at lvl 10 there is nothing astonishing about them.

Actually yes there is. Puncturing Sweep spam is effective but boring. DK's have an amazing toolset that rarely has me even taking a hit.

Sneak in, talons, sprint out, melt face from max range as the thing is snared and getting blasted. It's incredible.

Or you can stand in and go toe-to-toe. Temps have a single means of effectiveness comparatively.

Let me try to state it like this:

DK's can dictate the rules of engagement. A Templar reacts to how something approaches it.
