Of course people who play this game defend it to the bone. I like the game, but one thing TESO has compared to other mmo's:

Less to offer then other mmo's.

Immersive? Why, because it has nice graphics and a cat sit (static) on a piece of paper? Because you have no kill 5 this quests?

TESO has little to offer once you did all quests. The story of DC was good. You can mix up your class with different skills? Yes you can, but don't expect you can join the endgame trials or pledges. (Not the players fault, but a design Zeni though was cool).
    Crafting is very simplistic
fishing (gets an overhaul) is about the freedom you have in TESO. You can fish only at fixed spots.
No reason to return to area's you completed. In fact, since my build is not accepted in raids, i haven't left cyyrodil for months now.

I look forward to the jusitice system and what else they will throw at us. The game will become great in a near future. But TESO has nothing that other mmo's have or have tried (mixing up classes like the 32 profession SWG had has also been done. And was also done in Ryzom)

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

    1: Its a TES game.
2: First person perspective (Only play like this).
3: I really like the way the combat system is.
4: The grafik and style is one of the best.
    5: Best questing and stories.
    6: Simplistic UI.

I really like they try to make a hybrid game between the old TES games and a MMO. Think it works very well and is one of the reasons i do play an mmo again.

ITs a combination of these things as well as some others i have yet to put my finger on that make it unique.
What does ESO have that no other MMO has?... a combination of these things as well as some others that not only make the game fun but also makes it feel immersive.

I think what this game has that NO other MMO has is a high level of immersive quality.
For me anyways i've played other mmo's but I am always aware that I am playing an MMO. ESO with its combination of immersive elements, graphics, combat style, storys, npcs, un clutter ui makes it feel that I am not playing an mmo. Where I don't feel the need to rush to the highest level. I can enjoy taking the game slow becuase the quality of the game and it's immersion is that good.

Point taken and one +1 awesome

When i played the quests i also forgot i was "just" playing a mmo game. In fact you are right that it can be personal. I really loved the DC quests and was really immersed by the stories from start up to coldharbour. But that feeling was ripped out of my intestines when doing the veteran quests and when they added gear grinding and DPS-raids where ever point counts. Then i though... yes.. it's another mmo.

    Play the way you want.

No, really. I get the most fun out of trying whacky builds, or builds that fit my story of my particular character at that time. If it looks good and I'm having fun playing it, it's good enough for me. I couldn't care less about FOTM, "u r doing it wrong, dude" attitudes. I get to be efficient at work, so in my play time, I want quirkiness, originality, and fun. Even failing is fun without consequences. That's the essence of playing.

ESO's no sandbox by any means, but compared to the class corsets (or straightjackets) other MMOs put you in, it offers a relatively huge degree of freedom of choice. No "oh, so you're class X? Sorry, you only get to wear this kind of armor, you can only use this narrow selection of weapons, you can only have these meagre spells" at all.

I'm super pumped for the upcoming spell weaving system, or whatever it's called.
Yes, then compared with WOW where builds are preset pretty much and with their own armor sets something like an DK with dress and stick or an dual wield sorcerer would mostly be illegal as in you are not allowed to equip the gear.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

What does eso have that no other mmo has? Imbalance. I don't just mean balancing issues like every other mmo. I mean imbalance. The "play as you want" mantra means the game cannot be balanced without tremendous sacrifice. I think ZOS has realized this. It's only a problem in pvp and I think why they are letting pvp die. So this game may become the only mmo without meaningful pvp.

First of all.. i did not give you the +lol.

second. I do not hate the game as it is. I hate the direction it is going. Everything (alright not everything but much) they said they would not do, they are going to do.

I just hate it that my stamina builds get excluded from trials/dailies because it is designed that way. Even in PvP they (i won't say who because it was a test of them and i love them as a guild) there was a group who only wanted "approved builds". So AOE+support and not single target orientated builds like me. The infection of PvE raids infect cyyroril now too.

People now only want max dps builds and if you are not that "you don't know how to play your class" is what you are told. GOODBYE FREEDOM. Yes i am pissed and i have some good valid points for it. TESO is heading towards a generic max dps harry potter on steroids type of game.

It is almost impossible to create an MMO that is completely different from any other MMO these days. For the most part, if it can be done, it has been done already.

There are some things ESO has that most (I say most because I haven't played every single crappy MMO ever made) other MMOs do not have though.

    1. An endless supply of lootable containers.
    2. High quality crafted gear that is on par with the best in the game.
    3. A unique trading system. Kiosks/guild stores.
    4. An entire zone with nothing but group content.
    5. A compass system instead of a minimap.

    Upcoming-
    6. Justice system.
    7. Spell crafting.

    8. * You could say Champion system, but it's similar to systems used in a few other games.

Now you may not like all of those features, but that wasn't the question.

That is actually quite an impressive list of unique features in a day and age when unique features are hard to come by.

Otherwise ESO has many features found in most MMOs. But ya know what?- I don't care. The reason you find many of the same features in successful MMOs is because they are good features that people want.

For me personally, I need the Medieval theme in my MMO. I need swords & Sorcerers. I need dungeons, torches, trolls, goblins, knights in shining armor, and evil shady thieves.

You can keep the laser beams and high powered rifles. You can keep the Pandas and the cartoon graphics. You can keep the female characters that look like half naked 12 year old girls. For that matter, you can keep the male characters that look like half naked 12 year old girls.

Most of all, you can keep the F2P/P2W garbage.

For me and my taste, ESO is the best out there right now. Even with all it's problems. Hands down.

One thing ZoS has is "The Immersion Factor"

I mean the great graphics, npcs, wonderful stories and quest make it already one of the most immersive mmo's in my book.

They are adding in things to make the game feel more immersive. Like the eso justice system.

And I'm really happy that they are focusing on immersion as one of there main things. One of the big things they did for updates with me was making the first-person feel more real.

I hope ZoS keeps focusing on making the game feel even more immersive while still keeping the game balanced and fun. They are doing a wonderful job.

    1: no other
2: Vanguard (not a crappy mmo but a good one imho except no players and cancelled now) and SWG
3: SWG, player/guild vendors and a bazaar (bazaar was first planet wide later galaxy wide. stuff bought still had to be claimed on planet it was bought
    4: Vanguard/Ryzom
    5: DAoC, Mortal Online
    6: Archeage
7: no other i know of

Sorry just had to do it. For me above mmo's where great (except mortal online better known as "More dull Online". But they didn't do well so i am probably in the minority. Vanguard/SWG are still my favorite mmo's i played and had the best crafting systems in my opinion. Also crafted gear in SWG was normally the only armor you could get until they introduced levels and loot. For Vanguard crafted/raid was on-par and hard to make. Took me 2 years to craft a galleon and cutting down 1000's of trees and raiding the APW for the schematic.

I think ESO's greatest strength over other MMOs isn't these big changes/features. I think it's just all the quality of life tweaks that ESO tacks on to features brought from numerous MMOs and mashed those features into one game.

Big features e.g Spellcrafting, Justice System etc. will certainly make ESO even better, but you see most of these MMOs touting these big new "innovative" features e.g Dynamic Events in GW2, or Ship Sailing in Archeage but ESO still beats them all. Why? Because ESO's strength is refining existing industry staples rather than introducing new systems entirely. It's most noticeable in quests which are highly story-based instead of trivial, forgettable quests like "Go kill 10 rats" which you'd find in your typical MMO.

By the end of 2015, ESO will be unarguably be THE best MMO on the market once ZOS polishes the game and adds their new systems in.

For me the most important thing ESO has over other MMOs is History. ESO has to "fit" into the established history of Tamriel. I cared about this world before I ever even booted up ESO. No other MMO has had a world I'm invested in prior to me playing. Not even SWOTOR.

It's such as black&white way to seeing things.

A game doesn't require to have something that other games don't have; it just needs to be fun.

But "why do you play ESO instead of the other games that do similar things?" Well, that's just the thing, "similar" isn't "equal". What ESO does right is bring all these "similar to other games" elements into a really good experience.

As far as questing goes, voice over in this game is a huge benefit. Nothing unique to ESO, though.
