Templar Healer Item Set Choices

I'm a templar healer who just reached V14, and I'm having difficulty deciding what gear I want to use! I heal almost exclusively in group content, but I'm thinking that I should gear up so that I can either heal or dps depending on circumstances (since people seem to look for dpsers more than for healers).

The following set combinations are what I'm currently debating, but feel free to suggest other ones: warlock+seducer, warlock+healer, or going for all crafted stuff with seducer+3 twilight's embrace. Also I currently use -magicka cost enchants on all of my jewellery, but I am debating switching them to +spell damage enchants. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!

Longevity is king. Warlock and seducer ftw. The weapon absorb magicka enchant it solid too.

IMO +% Healing is more useful for non-Templars as Templar burst healing is quite capable of bringing people to full without any +% Healing, and Templars tend to have more problems with magicka than other classes. That said if you're already using Warlock + Seducer I might go +Spell Damage for jewelry. Would still help your healing efficiency on tankier teammates and contribute some DPS if you wish to do that.

As a templar I normally heal or tank.
But I keep three sets on me (all light) for three different roles

    (Healing set)
    5 Seducer + 5 Warlock
    (Tanking set)
    5 Hist Bark + 5 Magicka Furnace
    (Dps Set)
    2 Worm's Raiment (+8 Spell Damage)
4 Way of Martial Knowledge (16 Spell Damage)
    2 Torgu's Pack (+8 Spell Damage)
    2 Adroitness (+8 Spell Damage)

I am sure those sets can be improved, but it works for me for now

I'm in a similar situation as this myself. I recently hit v14 on my Templar and I have been researching/debating what set to craft or try to assemble. All along I have been using 5 Seducer + 3 Twilight's Embrace (5 light, 2 heavy) and it has worked pretty well but it would be nice to incorporate some set bonuses on my jewelry.

I really wanted to combine 5 Seducer with 5 Necromancer but it's not possible since the Necro set has no jewelry slots and we can't craft jewelry. In fact, after doing more research it seems there are scant few options for jewelry bonuses that seem appropriate for healing/casting.

The only decent options I see are warlock (seems near impossible to find and prohibitively expensive to buy) or soulshine. I have been using "reduce magicka cost" jewelry on all 3 slots and doing some quick math it seems like those really reduce the magicka cost of spells by a significant % which makes me wonder if that isn't the best overall option anyway (though it's the less sexy option no doubt).

I mean each piece reduces magicka cost by 19 so that's 57 off the cost of every cast and in the case of healing springs is 23% less magicka on every cast. Seems like that could be more substantial and consistent anyway (maybe warlock ends up being better but it still relies on good timing/luck for the effect to be super helpful and is always limited with a cooldown).

I really like the Necromancer set (the looks and the bonus) and it shines on AE mobs which is my specialty but it has no benefit at all on single target boss fights which is a big drawback and why I wanted to mix it with something like Seducer set to have some better all around utility. I'm also not able to find any Necromancer pieces over v12 so that is a drawback as well.

Anyone have any suggestions on set combinations that would give good, consistent results for healing/spell casting? After all the research I'm coming around full circle back to the sets I have been using all along (5 Seducer + 3 Twilight's Embrace with reduced cost magicka jewelry).

Nice thread. I am using warlock/seducer myself but am trying to put together a healer's set, and am looking at the undaunted bastion for when i try my hand tanking.

I wear Seducer (I like having the mana over boosting the power of the heal), 3 pc Thorn set (rings and staff), and 2 pc Bogden's head/shoulder. I have regen, spell damage and cost reduction on my jewelry. Has been working great so far at all high end content we've done.

Warlock/Seducer is almost required thanks to Templars magica starvation class issues since the early restoring spirit nerf.

However, it appears that ZOS is still trying to quietly and insidiously remove V12 warlock rings from the game.

No, this isn't an "epic" item and shouldn't be treated as such. Make real epic gear if you want an epic feel to the game instead of nerfing a set that is almost necessary for templars.
    • Fix templar magicka management issues
    • Stop messing with the drop rate of v12 warlock rings
    • Open up the loot tables
    • Design other jewelry based sets that are desirable instead of nerfing casters to death

The Engine Guardian set is superior to the Warlock set and probably more easily obtainable (maybe).

Personally, i play a templar healer, have no issues healing anything. I currently use warlock/seducer both 5 piece sets, plan on getting rid of the warlock set at least for the Aether set. I had magicka issues but figured it all out now. Sadly im a firm believer in magicka regen therefore all my jewelry is magicka regen based. With soft capped magicka regen plus some i am perfect in the regen area and really don't use anymore nor do i even come close to running out of magicka... The last few dungeons i ran warlock set went off 3 times total. Only cause my dps is a troll and decided he wanted to eat some stuff and not get in my heals so i had to do a little burst healing which drains the magicka, however when we are working as a team and doing everything the right way i have no issues.

Therefore at this point and looking forward to 1.6 fixing the spell damage and weapon damage stuff, i would recommend either acquiring a crit set/spell damage set which is what aether is going to give me as soon as i complete the set. Hopefully this helps out a bit and if you need any good advice feel free to contact me ingame via tells or mail by @Dubah‌

@Yolokin_Swagonborn‌ out of curiosity, i play a templar healer and magicka has never been a problem for me, so please explain the management issues. If all you use to heal is breath of life then yes it's gonna hurt your magicka pool and should probably use the healing circle from resto staff a little more often. Personally i believe the templar is perfect where it stands right now as far as magicka goes, however our dps needs alot of work lol...

Currently using Vestments of the Warlock and Healer's Habit. I'm over the magicka, magicka regen and spell power soft caps with 3K+ health. I rarely run out of magicka, even when actively dealing damage.

I use seducer and the healing set from DSA. I got lucky and got the whole healing set from DSA in one run. It was Vet DSA so I don't know if there is a difference in the healing set drop.

I actually got the tanking necklace and ring which the tank was there for but he happened to have the healing necklace and ring and we traded.

if u are a new vr14 healer, you might wanna forget about warlock, this 5 piece set people are writing about is the rarest and hardest set to find on the whole planet.

the rings got a drop rate, and im not kidding of like 0.000001 %, and people are selling them for +500.000 Gold

if you find warlock vr1 rings, keep erm to use with vr12 warlock necklace thats easier to get. If you wanna go 5 piece warlock atleast.

I mostly use Warlock + Wormcult with Master's Healing staff. But that's by no means the best combo, I just like blue pretty orbs lol. Finding it really hard to choose gear for my healer in PvE. So many viable options while I'm a gear hoarder with to many sets and no bank space left.

There's Healer's Habbit from DSA, Relics of the Physician x3 from VR dungeons, Seducer or Mara being the best crafted imo, Engine Guard or Bogdan's Totem from Undaunted, Aether if you want more crit and Elegant if you want more weapon power for resto. Than there's the issue with rings and neck if you skip Warlock or Healer. I guess Sunshine or Cyrodiil's Light is the only thing left? Gearing a healer is a frickin' puzzle :dizzy:

I only do simpleton stuff like AA/HR, VR dungeons, vet DSA only done after the nerf, for that anything of the above goes. Would be interesting to know what more accomplished PvE healers use?

now with v14 archmage, along with spellpower now effecting class+staff power coming in 1.6, 5 healer 5 archmage and master staff will in my opinion be the best combo. getting your hands on all that will be a mission though

V12 Warlock rings still drop in AA from the mobs, the necklace drops from the Mage. V12 Syrabane rings drop in HRC from the mobs (no necklace). You can farm chests in the Rift to get v10 soulshine rings and necklace. Those are a few other jewelry options if you need them.

well i using long time with my templar seducer + healer set combo 5+5. I was also trying the bohdant heal set (2 pc) from elden hollow but this proc make only around 6% of my HPS and i think is beter keep 5 set healer set bonus with8% boost to all heal then this one. And two weak ago i was trying Magnus' Gift set an i am rly impresed with this. In last two weaks when i using it ia heve much beter magica managment tehn i ever have with seducer. For me is winne Healer + Magnus' Gift.

I would say it depends on your playstyle when you heal. I personaly think that the Restoration Staff habilities (except for breath of life) are SUPERIOR. So I use:

    Regeneration
    Combat Prayer
    Healing Springs
    Breath of Life
    Mage Light

Then, using this setup and using Breath of Life only as an emergency heal I'm using Eyes of Mara and Healer sets. Eyes of Mara is like Seducer but 4% more for Restoration Staff habilities. Gives me more performance in most of the situations of the game (even thou it's true that Seducer is better if you need to spam Breath of life, wich in some fights you need to) These are few however.

Spell Power is not an option till 1.6 comes up so I used Weapon Power enchants to increase my healing with the restoration staff, however on 1.6 Spell power might be an option. But, I'll be using Mana cost reduction 100% it'll be the best way to go, both on Champion points and jewelry, you can cast endlessly and it's more than mana regeneration (if you have mana to spend)

well i using rapid regeneration as main hot and BoL as main heal and putrifi as 2nd hot and boost for my heals by 30% via focused healing pasive, rest of my 1st bar are burning spear and magelight, on 2nd its BoL, Healing spring (for few situation to hard heal whole group) necrotick orb chaneling focus for mana regen and magelight

I know some templars are saying they have a magicka issue regarding certain abilities I honestly go with abilities such as Honor the Dead and Healing Springs instead cause it helps mitigate magicka cost by return.

Only issue I've come across is prolonged fights where I am the only healer (as in both heals and support) but usually this isn't a huge issue honestly.

So I have been real busy at work and have not had a chance to run 1.6. I am curious, has any VR14 healers had a chance to run after the update, and if so, what is the thoughts for healing skills? I run a Templar and rely mostly on Restro Staff skills.

Is this still good, or are the skills drastically different? I will log and read, I just thought that maybe someone who has had a chance to play with it may have some thoughts. And are you (whomever answers) still running the full LA, or some other combo of gear. Just curious, if anyone isn't to busy running the game rather than stuck on the forums like myself. ;)

When this immediate evil power has been defeated, we shall not yet have won the long battle with the elemental barbarities. Another evil, it may be an invisible adversary, will attempt, again, and yet again, to destroy our frail civilization. Is it true, I wonder, that the only way to escape a war is to be in it?

I like your build really depends on what kind of group you're running with. I am either solo'ing and/or running 3-12 man groups primarily so I have Harnessed Magicka on my bar for increased survivability in those cases when enemy teams actually try to focus me it requires them to have 4-5 people on me if I don't have another heal/support with me. If I do then good luck you're better off zerging my group haha.

Also Healing Ward is one of my preferred abilities purely because it is a heal, damage shield, and then another heal.

Healing Ward coupled with Harness Magicka has saved my neck multitude of times where I just have to hold out for a team member to reach me.

Thanks. I tried it out some last night after CP points, and respect. It doesn't have the same effects as before. Not sure if weaker, just different. I did find that I didn't even have to look at my magicka. It stayed almost full with the new regen. I like that. Means Spell Symmetry may be out for something else.
