Ive had these bugs since April, possibly working as intended then?

I reported both and so did others in my guild, but it still happens all the time since April.. I wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem. Im guessing mebe working as intended?

1. When i look on my map and go back into game, sometimes my map pointer replace my game reticle. I spend a lot of time reloading ui and logging to fix this

2. If i type something in the chat window, sometimes when i go back to the game- all my skills are greyed out and i cant use them or weapon swap. Jumping off a certain height and taking damage fixes this.

Im not one to complain but its been about 9 months and im still bypassing and wrigging to fix this problem. Already been reported as a bug so no need to move this thread to another section....id like to know if this in fact is a problem with anyone else.

There is a mode called "cursor mode" that gets activated by pressing .
It seems like both of your "bugs" is you getting into cursor mode.

EDIT: Though in all fairness, moving breaks cursor mode, so perhaps you are stuck in it for some reason. Maybe an addon? Regardless, next time it happens try pressing .

OP, given comment from Marthenil about cursor mode, is there any chance you have a keyboard issue. Have you tried a different KB?

I will try that tonight. Ive never heard of cursor mode before. To be clear this is all happening ingame. I hit "M" for map and on that screen is an ingame pointer that when i get out of map mode, still exists and replaces my reticle for 1-2 minutes.

This happens to me, but it's pretty rare. Usually when I'm explaining how to do bosses in Vet Dungeons and typing a lot, it happens. It usually fixes itself once I get into battle and take some damage.

I have the map one usually, not all the times but more often than not. Both with built in laptop keyboard and external one so I doubt it is keyboard issue.

I've seen several bugs of this sort. Another example I see all the time: pressing the ALT key to close a GUI will often cause the map to pop up.

It appears as if ZOS is improperly handling their "state engine".

You only have a limited number of inputs to your client and many of them are used for multiple purposes; the mouse is a prime example.

When processing keyboard and mouse inputs, the messages that come from the OS have to be interpreted relative to the "state" your client is currently in; e.g., looking at the map. When exiting that "state", the variable describing the state your client is in has to be updated so subsequent keyboard and mouse inputs are interpreted correctly.

    That's clearly not always happening.

It's self-correcting, so that's probably why ZOS hasn't bothered fixing it yet. When subsequent player actions occur (such as entering combat and taking damage), the state changes associated with those actions override the original incorrect setting and things return to normal until the next situation of a similar nature where the state variable is again left unchanged.

It's a bug; it's annoying; but it's generally not fatal and there are worse bugs in the game.

But it also should be very easy to fix unless their code is extremely convoluted.

Yup I experienced this bug too. But a lot less then in the beginning . usually just moving or push enter twice or push ; fixed it.

I changed keyboards as someone suggested and it did not fix the problem. This may not be a fatal bug to some players, but it has been bothering me since July and id like it fixed. It has been reported and it is frustrating when someone has been dealing with it for 6 months and doing jerry-rigging to get a quick fix until the next time the bug triggers. I cant picture myself doing another 6 months of running around with a map pointer instead of my reticle for w/e amount of random time this bug decides to autocorrect itself in.
