Got So Frustrated that I almost cried...

Intro:
My goal to reach Max level (VR14) before I do the quests. I really do love the stories, but I just want to do it at Max level. I cannot do Silver content, because I have not finish the story lines to get to the Vet Zones to solo Grind.

Frustration:

There is two parts to this:

1) I cannot find a grinding partner to level the VR levels, so I did something stupid and leech some XP off a duo of other players. I asked very nicely several times and I was told "No" nicely. I just too frustrated (because I cannot find a grinding partner) and leech off of them. I am very sorry for doing that. Leeching is bad!

2) I understand the reason that they did not want me around -- The Two Person Rule (True, one gets most XP from two people, after that, XP goes downhill fast. More on this later). At the same time, they were taking the best grinding spot. (I was there before them, but was waiting to ask someone to grind with and I saw them).

My Feedback on the "Two Man Rule"

Why did ZOS made such a system that discourage grouping? IMHO, ZOS should make a system that encourage players to help each. Right now, with this "Two Man Rule", it plays out and really says, "I will not help my fellow player, because I want all the best XP and the best grinding spots. I do not care if my fellow player is left in the cold and the dark."

I really like to grind because of the social aspect and made many good friends by doing that over the years in many different games. ZOS needs to make more zones that one can solo grind to fill in the gaps if one cannot find anyone grinding partner for the better group grinds. Also, ZOS needs to tweak the "Two Man Rule" so that is the 3rd and 4th person still can help to get the XP -- it has a smoother curve on the graph as one adds more people to the group. Should ZOS change the "Two Man Rule" into a "Four Man Rule?"

This "Two Man Rule" and not being able to find grinding groups fast and easy. I had very limited amount of time to play today... I rage quit for 5 minutes before I try again. I almost cried too before I rage quit.

Grind overland mobs in Craglorn solo, or if you are able to, grind Craglorn delves solo. I used this method to finish up one of my toons from VR12 to VR14. You can easily get upwards of 300k XP per hour or more doing this.

So, just do that for 3 or so hours each day, and you will be VR14 in no time, plus it will get you a decent amount of gold and a huge amount of weapon, armor, and hide drops.

I have a solution, make a friend first and then grind together. If you do it the other way around it might be a waste of time. Interesting to read other people's experiences with the game though, you have so many forum stars next to your name, i'll look up some of your other comments.
Beesting, Bosmer Magica DK, AD EU, crafter
Slager, Dunmer Magica DK, DC EU, pvp
Farmer, Dunmer Magica DK, AD EU, trials build

Every major patch looks like the end of the world but somehow i just cannot stop playing.

ok first off this is a GAME. Go oiutside and take a deep breath!

Second. I think you're playing the wrong game if you like grinding and not doing quests to level. ZOS is trying everything to funnel players into doing the zones the way THEY want you to play not the way YOU want to play. This is a quest oriented game with really no other alternative except lag vs lag for leveling.

I am Vet2 and have no problems killing mobs on my own..so far. I suggest you ask in Combat category for a good Vet. solo leveling build and change it up.

I personally use Bow. There is good CC abilities that can daze and pushback enemies to keep more than a few of them off of you while you kite around and kill them.

Good luck trying to play the way you want to play ...in this game.

If you can't go to the Vet zones, how about you go to the Village of the Lost in Coldharbour? Fast respawn rate and lots of mobs.

Though really, you should at least finish the main quest so you can go to Silver.

What alliance and server are you? It may be easier to find someone if people know that ahead of time.

I don't "grind" per se, but I've been helping friends clear quests/dungeons in Craglorn. It's fun and it gives you some good XP too.

Yeah the 2-man rule is annoying. The exp penalty is to harsh.

I had a similar experiences, but the other way around. Me and a guildie (VR2 at the time) was grinding Spellscar. But wherever we went, this tail of players would follow us and invite themselves to the groups of mobs we where AoE'ing. So we only got 50% exp.

At first I assumed they wanted the spot, they where VR10-12 after all. Fair enough, so moved. We moved several times from fire, to frost to lighting, all sides of Spellscar. We told them to group each other and stop following lol. But the pursuers wouldn't listen and kept running after. Eventually we gave up and decided to grind delves instead.

I don't like being one excluding jerk, telling people to go away, but only getting half exp is depressing. Now if you would get full exp in a 4-man group this wouldn't happen. We could have grouped our leeching "stalkers" instead and everyone would be happy.

I did some Craglorn a few days ago (spellscar). I didn't notice any difference between grinding by myself, 2 people......or up to 6 people? You may get less points with more people......but you move a lot faster.......it all equaled out for me.

I didn't care for all the armor damage (repair cost) but I only needed VR12-VR14......not something I could afford to do for the fun of it though.

You could try spell scar. If someone wont group invite you, then just kill the stuff with them on your own.

Your paying the same money as them and as far as I can see those monsters don't have some groups name on it. If they refuse to invite you then do what ya gotta do to get kills, its no more disrespectful then them refusing you group. You have a right to farm just as much as they do.

At Spellscar a large group can constantly pull 3-4 mob groups at a time if you have good leaders and move quickly along. 2 people have there hands full with only 2 mobs.......and only 1 mob if one of them are very low level.

The two people rule is in my opinion over rated.

Yes four man would make more sense as its the standard dungeon size
More fun as its a few good grinding sites, they are also good for grinding loot.
Rather just cap CP you will get after reaching VR14,
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

You are NOT leeching XP off anyone. If there are 3 people involved in a fight, everyone who does enough damage will get their due amount XP and their own loot drop.

So stop apologising to people for for your existence in a multiplayer game. You are not taking anything from them by joining in with their fights (unless you are way higher level and one-shotting everything without letting them get a hit on the enemy, in which case that is a bit rude, hang back and heal instead).

The only advice I would give is if you want to grind, try to avoid messing up other peoples' questing experience in a quest area - don't run round in circles clearing out all mobs in an area if others there might be on a quest to kill/subdue/collect stuff from the bodies of the enemies there.

I took my newest build (vr1) dragonknight to Craglorn spellscar grind tonight. I made a few quick solo runs on the easy mobs just to see if he could do them.....he could.......and I was invited to a group with two other players fairly quickly. (I almost got to vet 2) .......900,000 points.

    Took around 3 hours.

There is a dwemer Dungeon North east roughly i think, of Belkarth. It has 6 spiders on each side inside the entrance, you tag em and aoe em. tons of spiders will spawn and the pull gives u about 19k exp. From there u just go outside the Dungeon and redo it. Got me 1 vr lvl per 2.5 hrs. And they dont drop loot so u dont have downtime by selling items.

U need a magica aoe build tho, and a partner would be better for faster kill and more exp. Easy for NB With veil of blades.

Grinding is quite fast and easy in this game compared to other games like Aion or Lineage or "insert Korean MMORPG"

Doing the main quest at max level won't change anything for you since it will scale to your level now :) (and you're missing on the exp and the skillpoints).

Plus, at VR, you can solo spellscar grind with the correct build.

I don't feel for you, anyone who has grinded has encountered this issue and has still been able to reach max level. Suck it up, be a big boy, keep leeching that XP (who cares if they don't want you around, you where there first anyways and xp loss is not that great with a 3rd wheel) and get a build that allows you to solo grind (if you need advise, post your class here and people will help you).

Any chance of pointing to something a bit more official? Or is this something that was determined by trial and error?

I assume it merely makes it more likely to get in the required amount of damage with only 2 (50/50 chance, right?), vs four. Otherwise, killing a critter worth 200 XP's is still only worth 200 XP's, whether are two grouped, four grouped, or 10 solo, all contributing the same amount.

Really, truly how much of a 'loss' is this supposed to incur?

It's not really a rule. There is an XP bonus when killing stuff with one other player. Once you add more players, the XP starts getting divided (but not exactly).

If adding another person to the group makes you kill stuff faster, then it's still a good idea to add them as your XP per hour will not suffer.
