    Don't forget the following:
17k Gold horse: Lvl 50 cap
40k Gold horse: Lvl 60 cap (or in other words, have already been fed 10 times)

Also: The continous sprint, after stamina is gone will most likely be fixed.

With this knowledge i go for 30Points in Stamina / 29 Points in Speed
    (Gaited horse 20 x stam, 29 x speed)

The best part: I have a pretty unique horse in PvP as most ppl go for max speed :) I just don't want to get torn from my horse by ppl camping some gate...
Are you still old school or yet unprogressive?

I was hoping continuous sprint would be like a another certain club i'm apart of, but I cant talk about it, that's rule 1

I out run people all the time with extra stamina on my horse because it seems most people still don't realise sprinting with horse works differently to how it works on foot.

Tap sprint on horse for a full gallop which chews through the stamina, hold for a canter (jog) which can be held indefinitely even after stamina is used up (this is intended). Get the tapping timing right and pop a Maneuvers buff, and you'll overtake dozens of people at a time.

it makes perfect sense, thisis why it seems like sprint is broken, you just cant go full speed when out of stam, but you can still go faster. OMG HOW FAST CAN I REALLY GO!?

Infinite sprint will not be fixed it is by design. Basically the way it works is stamina is your toughness. You will be able to keep riding while taking damage while you have stamina, when it runs out and you take a hit you fall off the horse. Stamina just drains while sprinting it has no affect on how long you can sprint.

1 horse, my imperial, current stats are, 51% speed and 12% stam. I will continue to increase speed until I have used up my 50 pts.

Can you back this up with some official statement?
Because my character stops sprinting, when stamina runs out. As such i'd rather say it is a bug with the horses that eventually will get fixed....
    [Edit]
I noticed Stamina going down, when getting hit and falling of, when it ran out...
    Hmm very strange Game Design...

yeah common misconception of the horse system is that you can max the horse out over time. That's not true, you get 49 points to upgrade the horse total. This is why there are multiple horses, since different breeds are good for different things. You have your pack mule, your warhorse and your travelling horse.

Oh man, just realized ive been just investing in my imperial horse for bag space, is there a better horse for that?
The draft horse starts with 10 bag slots, so its the best in the end.

The draft horse IS the best in the end (but not for that reason) as it's the coolest looking :P

The infinite sprint was noted as intended as an answer to a AMA question (summarized here):
There is a lot of confusion about the horses stamina mechanic. Apparently the unlimited sprinting is no bug but intended. This makes investing into stamina look inferior to speed though. Do you care to explain how it exactly works and how it is intended to be used?

Stamina for horses not only controls when you can sprint on the horse, but also determines if you’ll get knocked off while riding your horse. When that stamina bar goes down to 0 and you get hit, you get knocked off immediately.

If you sprint while your horse has no stamina, you will get dismounted on the first hit. I have a lot of stamina in my horse, so I often have time to dismount before they are able to knock me off and stun me. I have turned the tables on many attackers because of this.

Very true. I've been on my stamina horse and had people ambush me expecting to knock me down and kill me during the getting back up phase. Didn't go quite as well as they planned.

That horse may be a slow bugger at the moment, but nobody's gonna simply knock me off of it without catching me at the end of a very long sprinting marathon.

I know this is an old post but I would like to make a comment here, it seems most of you do not put any storage on your horse at all, is it more effective not to and boost the speed and stamina only?

I have 2 Horses on all 8 characters. One is max Speed, one is Max carry capacity. I use the Speed Horse 99% (always in Cyro) and swap to the Mule horse when I want to go farm for an extended period of time in a small area.

Keep in mind the original poster asked about PvP builds. In Cyrodiil carrying capacity isn't your preferred stat unless you're doing PvE - and even then more speed is nice because of the long distances.

All my characters have a mule horse with all into storage, those who go to Cyrodiil have a second fast horse.

    1. You spring faster when you have stamina left in your horse pool than when you have 0 stamina.
    2. If you go full speed horse, you can use retreating maneuvers, mount your horse, and sprint (you get full stamina whenever you mount a horse) for 50% of the time of rapid maneuvers (~10 seconds).

So the fastest horse would have just enough stamina to last the entirety of retreating maneuvers (20 seconds) before you have to dismount and cast again. I'm not sure what this number should be- maybe 5 - 10 stamina is enough. After that, you should go all speed.

This is a common misconception and ZoS has clearly pointed out that it's not the case. You GALLOP faster with Stamina to burn, Sprint speed is unaffected by your Horse's Stamina pool or lack thereof. As long as you continue to hold Sprint your Horse will do so and at the same speed, however the mechanic is the moment you get hit by anything with zero Stamina you get knocked off your Horse and stunned. This is an intended game mechanic that ZoS has verified. Placing points into Stamina just allows you to Gallop more times (catch up to an enemy or retreat from one) and Sprint for a longer distance without the fear of being dismounted. However even with max Stamina on a Horse you will eventually run out and if you then maintain Sprint will be dismounted on hit.

    Mount your horse.
    Hold sprint.
Notice your speed before your stamina goes to 0 and after your stamina goes to 0.
    Notice the drop in speed.

Gallop and Sprint are not the same thing. Gallop uses a large portion of your Stamina to burst you to speed quickly but has a very short duration. Sprint is a steady increase to normal Horse speed that stays constant as long as you continue to Sprint, regardless of Stamina pool. ZoS has also confirmed they are 2 different mechanics for Horses in ESO.
