    Both are viable for tank options and depending on your playstyle. But I will pick Hist Bark by far. Whitestrakes is for those oh *** moments, but if you're a tank, best to keep your health more than 30%, therefore Hist Bark is better.

    I'm actually running both atm on my dk tank- setup where I have the hist 5 piece active when on my main bar (for the mitigation and stamina savings on the bar I'm doing most of my blocking with) and whitestrake's when I switch to my 2nd bar (does most of its good when you take a quick spike in damage, and I'm just in that bar for quick bursts when refreshing buffs/dropping my standard/etc). Will be switching to some better options down the road, but for right now it's working well.

    Thanks for the advice! I liked the Hist Bark more... I just love to see their frustration when I dodge their attacks.

    And what about the Footman's Fortune set? I'm really confused, what set to use. Hist Bark is easy to get, but would it be a good idea to collect the Footman set?

    Because Footman set has rings and necklace it is nice and you can combine it with Hist Bark... And you have 2 free slots for an undaunted set. Its a realy nice combination for tanks...

    Specters Eye is not so bad, but the dodge of hist is all the time you block.
    At spectres eye you have to use a spell and have it for 3 seconds and a 6 second cooldown. so you have 3 second you dont have the dodge chance. and you have to cast lot of spells to keep it up...

    I was looking for something like this (Hist + Footman) but I am afraid that IN PVP i will lack the resources management, even in 5L+2H, without any "magicka" set like seducer or warlock. Anyone has tested it? I am talking about PVP.

    Another question related to gear... when the new CS comes... what will happen to the actual sets? Because now there are differents "tiers" tied to VRanks

    Veterenranks will stay for a while and up to now, we have no certain information regarding the changes to gear.

    Something about Hist Bark that I've never liked. I run Whitestrakes myself, that shield has saved my butt so many times when it hits the fan, it's more useful than people realize. But I still weigh the idea of going back to hist bark.

    If you never go below 30% - then Whitestrake is useless :) If you do go there every 15 seconds, then consider this: 840/0.18~4667. Which means 840 damage shield is equivalent to dodging exactly 18% of damage with Hist Bark if incoming damage was 4667 within 15 seconds. If it was more than that - Hist Bark is better. If it is less or equal - damage shield is better.
    Also, dont' forget that you can dodge DoTs, however - damage shield will absorb them. I guess, both sets are viable. It's just that there are situations when Hist Bark is better and there are situations when Whistrake's is better. You might carry 2 sets and switch between them or you might choose one depending on which situations are handled better by your healer (then grab a set that will make up for heals in other situations).

    Also, I dont' know why you would use it as a tank now, when there's undaunted bastion(I think?) that gives you 1240 damage shield, which is much better.
    What if I use Evasion with Hist Bark? does that stack?
    If everything works the way it logically should work - they do stack. However, your total dodge chance is not E+H.
    T=1-(1-E)(1-H), where E - evasion's dodge chance, H - dodge chance granted by Hist Bark.
    I didn't check it experimentally, but I run both HB and evasion and it feels like I dodge more often when evasion is active.

    5-piece Footman's Fortune + 5-piece Hist Bark = Sexy Time

    Plus you still have both weapon slots available for another 2-piece set, like Blessing Of The Potentates (Dominion's Sword + Dominion's Shield).

    >3k HP and whitestrike, you never get killed if someone try to gank you. (by solo gankers I mean)
    As a NB it's simply the best set in my opinion, it saved my life hundred of times and is incredible useful in 1v1.
    It makes me kinda tanky and I like it more than Seducer crap.

    If you want to hold block all the time and do a lot of group fights, I would prefer histbark.
    Against grps, the whitestrike Shield is down way too fast.

    So:
    1v1/2/3 -> Whitestrike
    Bigger fights -> hist bark

    Whitstrake does not suck. Especially for antigank. Its a decent suit for certain things. Hist bark makes no sense for someone with low stamina so its not superior for many different cases.This is why mages go for spectre's instead of hist.

    I might give that a try; I've got a v12 warlock set I use for dps, but there are better dps sets...

    On paper and per dev confirmation this is supposed to be the case. In practice, you get the same Dodge chance while just blocking with Hist as you do with blocking and Evasion both. Many people, including myself confirm the opposite of the dev confirmation.

    When I Light Armor tanked with 5 Hist, 4 Spectre's I had 0 Magicka issues. Stamina was another story. The switch to Hist/Footman's and have noticed a shift in Magicka consumption. This is because of Light cost reduction more than Regen. Changing to 5/7 Heavy is similar. 0 issues with Stam, but I may enchant with Magicka cost reduction.

    Spectre's requires a Magicka spell cast, 3 second duration with a 6 second cool down vs any time you block. I know a lot of people who would disagree with you.

    @Merrak Do you think it`s still going to be viable to wear 5 light armor as a tank with 1.6? I read somewhere, that they are focusing on sort things out between different armor typs.
