I really don't understand what happened to demos and free trials that were so abundant once. They are a wonderful way of presenting a game to those that are unwilling to buy it just yet. And in my opinion only enlarge the number of players, so they are definitely benefitial.
Why does ESO not have a trial or something similar? They must have a valid (from their view point) reason for such a decision, but I would really like to know what that is. If nothing else, to satisfy my curiosity.

    This should answer your question

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QM6LoaqEnY

Well the video show DEMO but it not say anything about free trail so i would say free trail is not a DEMO a free trail is show you how game works and most of time it is lock to just few lvl and you basically download the whole game but you need to pay to unlock to continue lvl up.

And it is show time and time again that free trail will boost number of player and i know like 6 people that would start pay to play ESO if the could try it out but as OP say thank to all the bad press on internet the wont buy the game.

Your right Demos and Trials are not the same. And almost all sub based games have a free trial. The problem is that if this game really has all the problems the forums claim then doing a free trial could hurt more than help.

However it did take WoW a few years to do a trial. It also took FF14 a year to get a trial going. They did however do a free weekend after every update which is every 3 months. If ZOS does it after a year then they could possibly already have console out and smoothed out. Then free trials for everyone!

I know it took WoW a few years before trial come but is free weekend same as free trail  so fact is that all problem people say the have here on forum would be there anyway

I'm not say that should add free trail now but near future in this case i would say after there 1st offical expansion if the have any plan for it if not the should wait to end of next year maybe before that would be misstake i think

Want more people in game ??? want to attract newcomers ? First thing to do is to stop the endless, often thoughtless bashing that takes places in these forums.

Otherwise I vote against a demo if it does not have a separate server. Don't want "tourists" in "my" game space.

    Trial but STRICTLY limited:
    - Only starter zone
    - No chat access
    - No mail access
    - No bank access
    - NO GOLD GAIN
    - No trading
    - No guilds
    - Level limit: 10
You can still do quests and get quest gear, gain materials and craft to feel what the game is like. But you cant sell the gear, cant make money, cant spam zone chat.

I have to disagree with the no chat access. You want them to BUY THE PROGRAM! If they can't ask for help in chat and have to figure things out on their own, they'll never buy the program!

Limited trials wouldnt affect the player base.
Player base and community overall is more mature than in most of mmorpgs i've been playing.

Every time I start a new toon, I scratch my head about that. The starter islands are a really nice start. It was a stupid decision (and it doesn't make much sense story-wise to wake up in the first zone).

A lot of it was during the early parts of the Beta, our characters were wiped just about every session or week. So, each week it was, "Groan, save the trapped sailors again?"

If you have a higher level toon you can handle the first zone just fine if you make your low level alt some nice equipment. I do think that the starter islands existence should be more apparent. Although in DC it is pretty easy as a quest marker NPC just outside the door of the house your dropped into points you that way. It is much less clear in Auridon or Stonefalls

I really think that having a server or instance for trials which doesn't impact the subscribers is the only option.

That is the only way to do it. Then the Gold Farmers have no market and no incentive to do what they do. If they have no reason to show up, then they won't show up.

I think a free weekend on the PTS would probably be a good idea (like they had the open Beta weekends). That way newcomers can interact with players who are already on the PTS testing stuff, it might actually encourage more people to spend time there and ZOS would have more data as they are polishing up a new update.

Making someone download the PTS then download the entire game again is a bad idea.

Every paid account gets one trial key they can give out for every month subscribed. Trials confined to starting island for 10 days or until they sub. Limit bank access and trading.

    OR LESS.

it's $20 at the moment, it's a steam sale, prices will go back up, but yes for the minute it's pretty cheap.

There are those that value their money more than that and want to try (if there is such possibility) before they buy. I know, ridiculous idea that someone would do that, but there are people out here that do have financial problems and do think before they spend even as little as $20.

Again:if 20$ is a problem for a person in a particular moment, he/she might want to try to improve their life before wasting time on a video game.

I didn't even buy it from Steam. I bought it for $20, right off the ESO website...
And I have to agree, if you can't afford to "waste" $20 to try ESO, than you probably need to re-evaluate your priorities in life. I've spent $60 on an Xbox game, that had no where near the content of ESO. Most games don't last a week, let alone 30 days.

If I spend 20 bucks on the right game I can gain dozens or even hundreds of hours of entertainment. To someone who can't afford a lot of entertainment options, that is a good way to spend money. Nothing else comes close to the entertainment per hour/dollar spent that gaming can do.
