    DAoC, right as the age of cablemodem and DSL started, played perfect in large sieges. I had no issues at all with my brand new DSL setup and even the biggest relic raids in the Old Frontiers.

    That should tell you something right there.

    Exactly right. They give 2 shts about PvP and don't want negative posts about PvP to bring down their core PvE.....so move the thread. Maybe they should move all the PvE threads out of general to the PvE discussion forum. Maybe they should remove all forums....

    They should just remove PvP from the game. They clearly have no intention of supporting it or adding new content. But I guess their plan is to kill it slowly so that there is less of a protest when they finally pull the plug.

    Its probably one of those accountant issues. PvP is straining their server resources and they feel it isn't their strongest demographic.

    A MMO is something that evolves over time. Personally I think its asking a little much to be lag free/bug free so soon into the game. I know its been 6 months since launch but in the lifespan of a mmo thats not much. Just think a little patience is in order here. Some games took a year or more to stablize and are now really fun games. SWTOR is one example.

    So last night my guild had about 10 people in Cyrodil on Thornblade and we were going around questing in the dungeons and doing quests (we were playing for DC, which at that point had pretty much been destroyed). While in a dungeon we attempted to leave, but could not get out for like 10 mins because of the overpopulation on the campaign server.

    It was amusing, we just ran around and killed everything in the dungeon again.

    Maybe you should try don't play on Thornblade's prime-time? Our guild has fun on Azura with a lot of enemies and without lags. I can't understand why people want to wait 100+ positions to play on Thornblade.

    We aren't asking for it to be 'lag free', we are asking for it to be actually functional and deliver the advertised 'support for massive battles of up to 200 players on screen at once' that was bandied about all the way up to release.

    Yeah and we all know what happened to illum, they removed open world pvp from that zone because of the lag.

    I cannot believe that people in this thread actually defend ZOS in this issue! Are you serious?! Are you really serious that you allow a service provider to get away with such a product full of bugs, bad designed gaming mechanisms and a PvP component unplayable because of performance issues?
    I did not play PvP for 3 weeks now because i played a twink. This way i did not notice how bad the PvP situation has become... until yesterday evening. I played (rofl) in the 30-day campaign on EU. Yellows and blues had 2 bars and reds had 3 bars in the population overview. Nothing was locked. The situation should be perfect for an exciting evening of PvP.
    Oh man what a mess did i experience! Lagg and out sync is everywhere! Even in small scale combat situations! Health bars do not update. You put a ton of damage in an enemy wonder if he might be cheating and then he drops out of nowhere. Binary HP-bar i call that. Same with your own health. It is impossible to react on incoming damage because there is no response from the game. Fair fights are not possible. You can run with the zerg and pray that you
    do not become one of the lagg collateral damage victims. In duel situation i have no chance to perform a fair fight anymore. My gameplay depends on good timing and on good responsibility when switching hotbars - no chance to do that. To have any chance at all you have to turn to a 1-key-press playstyle - this might work and be performant in the current out-of-sync and lagg situations.
    You should leave siege stuff alone - only makes you angry! Because out-of-sync problems keeps you loosing your equipment without a working siege apparel.
    Then i encountered new bugs! What about the sound please?! Who is making this loud and annoying swooshing sound?! First i thought it is a new bat swarm sound but there were no vampires around. Can it be some sound from
    drawing a bow? Really really annoying and totally missing the point!
    Then i went suddenly in some kind of "walk-mode". My avatar on foot or horse only moved very slow. I thought i triggered somehow the walk/run toggle by accident even though i do not have a button configured for this. To test it i set a key for this toggle but then i could only switch between slow walking and very slow walking - only a relog could solve the problem.
    I will not mention doors.. you can still not rely on those. Very funny when 5 ppl are chasing you. And then you die only because the game mechanics do not work and then you get very happy about removing the forward camps. Riding is a lot of fun - riding a lot and again and again is much more fun...
    Normally i do not die a lot. But at the current state of the game it is not under my control to survive! The lagg and performance issues cause a lot of death. My escape mechanisms become almost useless in the current situation of PvP in cyrodiil.
    So every death because of this crappy performance makes me wanna break stuff like my mouse, keyboard or my monitor.
    And removing the forward camps just makes the punishment even worse. The punishment for something that is out of my control. That sucks a lot and forces a lot of people to leave PvP.

    For those who defend the current state of the game specially for the issues in cyrodill let me draw a picture for you so maybe even the biggest ESO fanboy might understand the problem:

    You buy a car. Nice car with lots of extras and stuff. Problem is that you cannot open the door all the time.
    You have to dodge roll first and maybe then the door will open for you. If that not works you have 3 more doors you can try and as a last option a backdoor where you can creep inside. Eventually you cannot get inside at all.
    But please... where is the problem? There is so many other funny stuff you can do instead of driving your car. Oh, but you want to drive your car? Well get over it and do something else instead... but do not forget that you paid for the car.
    Well... assuming you got inside.. then you drive your car but please do not turn your radio on and do not listen to CDs or MP3 because this way you cannot drive fast anymore. Or maybe you cannot drive at all.
    Oh and don't forget that you cannot drive in areas where there is much traffic! Your engine will start to stutter and may turn off completely. But where is the problem? You can still drive your car in areas where there is not so much traffic. I mean, you cannot drive your car where you want but please... still you got a good car there, don't you?
    Please do not attach any addons on the car, like flags, sunscreens, stickers, etc. Oh! And beware of external navigation systems! I mean your internal system totally sucks and normally never works - oh wait... i forgot you do not have an internal navigation system - anyway please do not use any external ones because this might let your engine stutter and again it might break down totally.
    Have i mentioned the door thingy? Leaving the car is the same thing like trying to enter it. But be careful with the dodge roll while inside your car.
    During the drive please do not use any extras. Do not use the electric window lift. That is a bad addon and will let your engine stutter or do a complete breakdown. Only use the window winder that belong to the original
    configuration. But even with those be very careful. You know about the engine stuff... When i think about it - better leave the windows completely alone. Who needs open windows while driving a car anyway?
    Other extras like cruise control, seat heating, power mirror or electric adjustable seats are completely out of order - you heard about the engine problem?
    Most of this stuff do not belong to the original configuration of the car so they come from unwanted addons which have no issue with the cars engine but anyway.. don't use them!

    So lets summarize: You bought a nice car. You cannot get in or out of it anytime you want. You cannot drive where you want and you cannot use any of the nice extras. Your engine stutters or breaks down making it impossible to enjoy the ride. Everytime you give your a car a try for a nice ride it always becomes a total mess with a lot of frustration.
    But hey! You have a nice car and the manufacturer will come with an update soon . Then you can use the ashtray again but the engine thing will be still be broken or even got worse...

    Got my point?

    Just wanna add... i logged in the game 5 minutes ago. I was just one single Minute in PvP (rofl) in cyrodiil and got stuck at alessia Bridge. Then i fell through the Bridge getting stuck below the Bridge! Nothing worked - i could not free mysel. Had to "stuck" myself to get out - having to pay 146g for the stuck-teleport just adds the cream to this mess... really? ZOS are you serious? Do something... damn it! My patience has ended and i think was a very nice customer for a very long time now.

    You get that this is because of a design flaw, right? I can't control what other people do, but ZoS can. The battles were bigger with much more stability a few months ago. So we should just set aside certain skills in PVP? I know there are instances where some skills are being used to intentionally lag out the server and that's *** but if nothing is being done about it, it will continue.

    For a game this many months out, for not only taking an initial buy but a monthly sub which hopefully is being put into salaries of competent designers and programmers and infrastructure (questionable?), I'd be EMBARRASSED to serve this up. EMBARRASSED.

    I'd like to see Gordon Ramsey come in and clean up... Either throw it in the bin, shut it down, or kick the bloody sods out that are sinking the kitchen!

    I haven't had a single problem in pvp. Lower your settings, drop add-ons, stop spamming abilities.

    I agree, in fact ZOS needs to give us the ability not only to lower, but be able to turn off completely, spell effects (just eye candy) with spell effects off your going to be able to fight in those lag storms, they don't effect you, he he.

    Frame rate issues are NOT the real problem where Cyrodil lag and Thornblade in particular are concerned. I haven't crashed in Cyrodil since the last incremental patch...when lag hits my frame rate is just fine it's abilities/mounting/weapon swapping that are crazily delayed or not working. I've encountered the delayed/absent sound in cyrodil bug and that also happens when there's AOE spam lag...no other time.

    Probably 90% of the time this lag happens it is DIRECTLY related to large groups of players 15+ in size spamming impulse(usually pulsar) and unstable wall of elements along with bone wall/barrier/igneous shield. Get some distance away from the spammers, the lag goes away. Zergs aren't the cause of the lag in my experience, it's constant group AOE spam. I hear the exact same thing from nearly everyone I"m on TS/in pvp group with.

    Whether groups are intentionally spamming AOE to lag out the server or not doesn't really matter....what needs to be fixed is the aoe abilities themselves (especially destruction staff) so group spamming doesn't cause enormous amounts of lag.

    Also IMO ZOS should really try removing the 6 target AOE cap for a few days on the live server and see whether that is causing the AOE ability lag. I really think that cap was an incredibly bad idea to begin with...all it did was encourage zergs and force more AOE spam to kill off large enemy player groups.

    Yeah remove the AoE caps between patches and see what happens to the lag. Getting rid of those extra calculations must help and maybe completely eliminate the lag. I don't think anyone would have a problem with this. At least then ZOS will have some solid data on how the aoe caps reflect on performance.
