Disappointing Point in the Game

navra1ub17_ESO
Since I was at about level 42 with my Dark Knight a few weeks ago I have been able to only find a very few minor quests to do in order to level up. This grind has continued to where I am now at level 44. Now I am told I must grind until level 50 until I can progress the game. This is extremely boring to the point where I have considered discontinued playing the game.

You missed a lot of quests and things to do then. By the time I hit Coldharbour and fought Molag Bal I was VR1. And I'm still finding quests I missed.

    Agreed.

Don't skip every mob while Questing and explore from time to time to find off-the-beaten-path Quest Givers.

I'm doing Cadwells Silver right now and I end up half a VR over-leveled in every area that I'm in. It's boring as all get-out, but at least I'm leveling?

You missed some stuff, don't be in such a rush, explore every zone there are a ton of quests.

Whereabouts are you? If you do almost all the quests and soloable dungeons in each zone you shouldn't need to do any grinding until vet levels, and only then that's mostly if you're bored with questing. If you do Cadwell's silver and gold you could easily be at vet 10 or 11 before they run out. For example I'm at VR9 with 2 1/2 zones to go, I've done no PvP and very few group dungeons so almost all of my XP is from the alliance zones.

I don't know if you use addons, but if so I recommend using 'Destinations', which will show any areas on the map you haven't discovered yet.

If you don't use addons, check your achievements to see which zones you've still got more quests to do in. Each zone has an equivalent of 'Grahtwood Quests
Complete 41 quests in Grahtwood.' and a counter beneath it if you've not reached that total yet. Even then, there are always more quests available per zone than you need to complete for the achievement e.g. Grahtwood has more than 41 quests.

If that doesn't help, just head for empty parts of the map. :)

A friend was having that problem a few days ago. Turns out they accidentally skipped Shadowfen and went straight to Eastmarch.

There is no way to be underleveled in the 1-50 zones if you've done the main quests and most of the other quests around you.

Though I'm not sure why you have to be level 50? I understand you can beat Molag Bal before then.

Explore the world, there are quests all over the place, do not try the old standard approach, don't really have any standard quest hubs, like other games.

Agree, you did something wrong. Grinding is a legit way to level up but there's plenty of stuff to do. For example, if you do Dungeon pledges, they give a lot of XP. Or Writs from crafting. Apart from all other dungeons without pledges. And i'm sure you missed thousands of quests, you rushed through content really fast.

But if you are good you can always finish the main quest (Wich you didn't i'm sure) and then you'll access VR1 zone even if you're lvl 47-48 and keep questing. Also going back doing lower level quests will grant you XP aswell.

You need to beat Molag Bal before you can advance the game, and to do that, you need to finish up the MQ in Coldharbor. Levels will not stop you. You can start Caldwells Silver in the low 40's if you wanted to and are capable of doing so.

How far into Caldwell's silver are you?

I just got to the VR4 zone in my alliance with an alt I am leveling. What I noticed is that doing everything in each zone provides less than the 1,000,000 XP needed for each level (I'm getting somewhere between 800,000 - 900,000). I'm at / above level for each zone, but only because I got halfway through VR1 in the starter zone.

I am doing every quest available in each zone. I have both the <zone> explorer and adventurer achievements before moving on, do every boss / dolmen, and every side quest I can find. Every POI on the map is white before I leave a zone.

At this rate, I will be VR9 when I finish Cadwell's gold, leaving no real options for leveling to max level. The whiners got the grinds nerfed, leaving me with an under leveled toon for end game. I can understand the OPs disappointment, you play a certain length of time into a game only to find out that what's left in the game is simply not appealing. Even you claim what you're doing right now is boring, if that's the game play option left for subscribers, how many will keep paying?

@navra1ub17_ESO‌ you do not need to be level 50 to progress in the game, you can fight molag bal and start Cadwells silver before you reach VR 1, last week I saw a lvl 46 in a VR 1 zone.
It sounds like you haven't travelled to coldharbour yet. Return to the harbourage and make sure you have completed the main story line.

Strangely I was also was VR1 at Molag Bal and I did every single quest in every zone.
But I also ranked up in PVP which gained me at least 8 levels. So it would seem to me that the OP is right, there may not be enough XP in questing to hit max level. He will need to do dungeons or PVP to get the extra!

IDK what area I'm in (at work ATM) but everything is always a V-level under what I am, by half a bar.

I do, however, spend a little time wiping-out bad guys en route to my objectives. So maybe that bit of "grinding" contributes to it?

I haven't done many Dungeons. In fact, I think I've only done FG back when I first started and WS once after I was V1 (the normal version).

As it sits now, I'm focusing on leveling alternate skills buy using one bar of "new" skills, and another bar of "new" skills when I turn in quests, to keep everything going. Once I've gotten a good feel for what I like to use I guess I'll look into going to Craiglorn. I've read that I need to be higher VR than I am now? IDK.

I'd like to eventually get into trying PvP. I know I'll get wrecked, so I need to plan how I approach that. I don't want to get discouraged and shy away from it. The videos I've seen online make it look fun...once you get the hang of it, I would think.

There were other threads where people talked about this issue of not getting enough XP when completing a zone. I think it depends on how many mobs you kill in the process of completing the quests, but I think ZOS is probably going to tweak things a little bit still to bring XP in line with the 1 VR level per zone ratio.

Though if the Champion System is coming out soon, that may become irrelevant.

No cause I did 0 PVP or grinding. I did quests and dungeons only. So no he missed a lot of things. Most likely the starter islands and some side quests. I have everything Whited out and all quests I could find done. Today I went back to get lower level mats and level up some crafting , found 2 quests in Bal Foyen, 2 in Deshaan, 1 in the Rift.

In the Leveling zones it is quite easy to stay on rank, even without PvP, if you just complete the maps (and even then you can leave out some Dolmens and World Bosses). However in the VR instances, I have done three zones where I started the zone at around 1000 points and got to 90% of a VR by fully completing the map. Eastmarch seems to be the only VR zone so far that has enough content to gain a rank in that zone alone, but will still require a bit of grinding to finish. So, I have now gone out and ground out a VR Rank for each of the 3 characters I am playing so that they will at least be at or one level above the content for a zone. I still see me doing a lot of grinding to get VR10 by the end of Caldwells Silver though.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
