How not to be a [snip]

Over my MMO game life, I have always been amazed by people who pvp. For example, the idiot who sends a tell after killing you; as if they were all alone facing an army of enemy players and they slayed everyone. People who feel the need to E-gloat, I suppose require constant stroking of their self-esteem either by themselves or others. Well personally it doesn't bother me. I'm probably hundreds of miles from that person and if they feel as if they need that type of gratification, well by all means go for it. But lets all be honest, some players just don't like it. In fact some of our friends actually get upset because they are trying to manage more than just their key board, and in this game and its complex group management abilities they are usually doing lots more. I'm just saying, if you feel you need to circumvent the /tell system and send a whisper to an opposing faction member, make it at least civil. Don't be a ***. I think everyone in the MMO community can agree that there is nothing worse then playing a game with or against a poor sport. Yeah everyone knows how to /ignore a player and its something that we all do, but honestly, as my grandmother use to say "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Now if you feel you want to say stuff that's not nice, hey I'm a 46 year old, father of 3, ex-US Navy with a Ph D. you are more than welcome to send me a tell on Thornblade and try to impress me with your language skills. I can assure you, I have heard it all and at my age seen more and done more than most. But for the sake of not being a pure *** try not to antagonize your fellow gamers, It's simply poor form.

Best wishes hope you all have a great night.

Great post! all the circle jerking on ESO is enough to make you sick at times, its rather big woop stuff cause it's a game! I have been guilty of whispering opposing players normally if they get the jump on me something nice like "better luck next time slugger" but thats all tongue and cheek.

I don't think that bad at all, but like you said there has been a lot worse said then that by players. The one that always makes me laugh is "you're a hacker I'm reporting you." Not that that's a bad kind of a whisper to get but certainly a funny one.

As I have discussed with alliance-mates, it's best to just take those hate-tells as a badge of pride. It means you are getting good enough to be a nuisance to your opponents and are becoming someone to be reckoned with.

I agree though that it's classless.

Lol I could care less. Apparently my OP didn't clearly state my sentiment. However, you have not impressed me at all.

i dont see how emoting someones corpse is being a d***. i /bow anyone that gave a good and fun fight, and i /spit anyone that did something that ticks me off; like BE stunning me the entire fight(*cough a certain 2H sorcerer on Blackwater blade:D cough*) even then im only teasing.

there are many worse things you can do besides emoting someones corpse to tick them off. i myself get more annoyed by rage tells than i do emotes.

but like you said, if someone has to be a d*** and send me some dramatic and lame trash talk message, then go ahead. It only means i am good enough to be a nusiance to you, and you simply take it a bit more seriously than you should. if someone finds that a productive use of their time: fine. their problem.

I like emotes! It's the whispers that get a little extreme amongst organized group leaders.

i /tell a few ppl. usually just to say hi, or ask them not to teabag my toon lol. but i always do it in a civil way. also sometimes i ask them what their set up is when i see a ridiculous amount of damage from 1 hit. not because i think their cheating but because im curious how they managed to get that, was it gear etc. sometimes they reply sometimes they dont. idk i get what your saying OP but i have never had an issue with ppl being a**holes.

Hate tellers thrive off getting a response, I rarely respond, I just put them on ignore, I have had a couple here in ESO, back in the swg days used to get them often, my ignore list was pretty full.. :)

Apart from having a bit of friendly banter with certain opponents you run into again and again, I don't see the point of doing /w to complete strangers.

To do so particularly after you've either ganked them or heavily outnumbered them with your group is extremely poor form.

In the odd situation where I have a 1v1 with another player, I will usually do /w to praise them afterwards, regardless of outcome or how well they did. If they respond and start a conversation like "yeah, it was good fight", then I try to encourage them to join our little duelling community.

Basically, be nice, no reason not to. Unless you're Kris and you like clubbing baby seals in your spare time

I had someone send me some pretty arrogant tells that basically said "what?! you had enough?" after he had been revived two or three times by his team mates...
I don't think I have laughed so hard before. But stalker i'll be happy to send you some abusive tells if you feel neglected ;)
