Good news for dueling?

So I was watching the Quakecon livestream from awhile back and one of the questions that was asked was if dueling was ever going to be implemented.
Paul Sage responded that it was not as simple a system to implement as people thought BUT that once the justice system was in place they would indeed then have the tools to implement it. His discussion of it begins at 1:48:45.

He finishes by saying:
"We're certainly not against dueling. We think it's a fun activity. It's just a matter of when we can get it in the game."

Note that he said WHEN, not IF! So it certainly sounds as if dueling IS on their radar and IS going to be coming to the game at some point. And I'm pretty excited about that.

Also they have a video 3x3x3. So, not a big news.
    Make sweetrolls, not nerfs!

Yes it is. It's extremely simple. Right-click on a player just like we can already do, and select the option to duel. It sends a request to that person, just like a trade request, and if they agree to it, then you are flagged as enemy to each other until one of you dies or ends the duel. Simple. It's been done in many other games.

Obviously he was talking on things on their side. That it's just one click for the user in the end says nothing about how difficult it may be to implement.

If you want to generalize like that, sure it's apparently a simple thing to implement. But, if they're saying it's not then there must be other factors which come in to play that are specific to ESO. No one knows for sure besides ZoS, and what they're saying seems reasonable.

The Justice System features 1v1 PvP in regular zones. Developing for that has likely brought them closer to understanding how to properly implement dueling.

Exactly this. The mechanics for making it happen will then be in place. What they will need to decide is if there are places that are off limits to dueling and how they will allow players to flag themselves for dueling. We'll obviously need an opt out/duel invites OFF function so as not to be spammed with challenges as just another form of griefing.
