Letting go

This morning i had a real letting go moment
when i decided enough was enough
and uninstalled shopkeeper
since it kept crashing my game all the time.
Shame, because i was interested to see
the statistics for the period of a whole month.
But i let go of it, bb shopkeeper...
I felt some pain because in this month we might have seen
the rise and fall of a empire together..

What has been your biggest bb moment in the game so far ?
Beesting, Bosmer Magica DK, AD EU, crafter
Slager, Dunmer Magica DK, DC EU, pvp
Farmer, Dunmer Magica DK, AD EU, trials build

Every major patch looks like the end of the world but somehow i just cannot stop playing.

When. They nerfed vet ranks. I know the majority didn't want the challenge but I did.

Deome has actually made a continuation of shopkeeper..its buggy right now but hopefully either he will get it fixed/updated or someone else will pick it up.

For me the real bb moment was patch/update 5.

Now its all just about grinding, dps...

I do not like to pay for something I cannot enjoy at its fullest due dependency on others. Let it be certain classes or level or whatever...

I love grouping, but if there are no groups going - nothing goes...

This game gave me nothing but frustration ever since they introduced dungeon scaling.
Now everyone has to be "optimized" and no longer can play as a unique skilled character anymore. If you are not optimized, then you cannot manage the boss mob.

I stopped playing Everquest 1 and 2 because of that, I did the same with DAOC and AOC and so on... back then I was patient and it took me some time to quit. Today, I think... why paying money and investing time for something I cannot enjoy at its fullest?!

They are adjusting boss HP scaling in the next update I believe coming Monday. So the best DPS shouldn't be as necessary.

From what I read at the test server section, people are whining about pledge boss mobs being too easy :-/

I have yet to see that they really tune them down to match the group *sigh*

If you're talking about Elloa's thread, she was talking about normal scaled dungeons, not Vet. Though I realize now that I'm not sure what difficulty or level you're talking about specifically.

During Beta we were promised a lot, one of these things was the promise to not become one of the boring MMOs with gear seasons and raids... some months later they removed silver & gold Cadwell for challenging gameplay on max level for non raiders and gear seasons are announced as well.

Soon we will enter the same gear treadmill of raiding and equipping like in every other MMO besides Ultima.

I still don't understand that move nor will I ever but I guess its time to move on.

My BB moment is when I learned that Veterans rank was nothing but questing the starter zone of the other factions. took a 3 month break came back and see I should have made it a 6-9 month break. Oh well.

It does have that smell to it, since posting the screenshots doesn't really seem to jive with the topic

Maybe they should make everyone the same lvl, have us fight naked and all have the same skills that you push in a certain order. MMO's have and will always be about progression as is almost every single game worth a damn. I think they are striking a great balance between progression and keeping people feeling like they can get the "best" stuff. You can do just fine with all crafted stuff also. Even a casual player that doesn't suck can do the majority of this game without a cookie cutter character..

Veteran Level... my main is VR12

Never had a chance to try the normal group dungeons either with my non Vet toons. Somehow people aren't really doing them :-/

Not really, i was planning to post my sales for a month (because they are quite high, you have to admit)

But when the shopkeeper was bugging out so much i found out i could not get the statistics for a month, i had to give in and let go of the idea.
The forums are not a good place to show off anything anyway, i see them more as a record of the development of the game. Some people (like me) might find it interesting how the game develops and the effect that has on the people that play it.

I have gone through a lot of emotional attachment to this game, not so much to the pixel money. I am sure i am not the only one....

I sort of had a letting go moment when I heard about season gear.

But I suppose I was lucky in that it didn't seem to go too far into becoming a gear grind with their promise that they would make the 'old' seasons readily available so no one is so horribly behind. Still leaves a sour taste in my mouth though.....

Dear OP: Get d0piate's Guild Sales Assistant. It does the same job as the old Shopkeeper, only more awesomely. And if you're on a PC, there'll soon be a nifty .NET framework tool which can store sales data forever!

That's not an absurd amount of wealth, actually, for those tuned to the economy. Yeah, it seems like a lot to ME but that's not my game. I don't think the original poster was showing off.

As for those farewell moments, I disagree that all great MMOs are leveling games.

Air Warrior wasn't and it was the MMO that first got the attention of mainstream media in the mid '90s. It was also the first fully graphical MMO and the first MMO in D3D.

Multiplayer Battletech was the best MMO to-date in my view and used leveling only for new players and only for very few levels. But it was only offered on the GEnie network. Was never on the Internet. In those days, given the soup sandwich of hardware used across the Internet, nobody in their right minds would have offered an online game on that network. Wouldn't have been legal to anyway.

Ultima Online had limited progression. No quests at the beginning. Very few quests later on. No leveling ever.

Eve Online - skills increase independent of playing time, no leveling, no real questing, a complete but different game for all levels of experience, and has grown in popularity each year for the past 11.

With their smaller communities early online games could stress development over achievement. Your goal was to develop as a presence in the community and achievement was not always the best way to do so. Not so easy to do nowadays though.

You get an 'Awesome' from me for the mention of Eve, my first MMO that I still pick back up now and again. This is the best example I know of where there is zero gear treadmill and new players with little skill can decimate old timers with "BiS" gear (nobody in Eve runs around with full Officer without dying in a ball of flame within moments of being scanned).

I wish they would update Asheron's Call. That was one azz-kicking mmo!

I loved that game and nothing since has touched or even come close, well except for DAOC.

AC was awesome! I like how projectiles worked more as a FPS. If you threw a fireball it went straight ahead until it hit something. You could dodge it by moving out of its way.

Also like the researching.. combinimg those things with different colours...

An updated AC would be serious competition to some of todays AAA mmos.

I know this is an old thread but sadly the situation still exists the Shopkeeper Continued addons still constantly crash.

Good news is that I have finished mine and while it's not direct replacement, I think it's a much better addon package.

    have a look for yourself

    http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info822-GSA.html

I also got a bit of feedback today as I realized I never announced it was done on the official forums (until today)
