Should there be an auto consume feature added to food and drink?

I have run into many times where my food and drink would expire while in combat, both in PvP and PvE. EQ2 had the ability to auto consume food and drink and I really wish ESO had a similar feature.

Along with an auto-repair when you open a merchant window (yes, I know there is an addon that does it)

Are you joking? Given how many calories my character expends while fighting and running around I hardly think a muffin every 2 hours is going to make him fat...Even if there wasn't a time dilation in ESO, our characters should be losing weight if anything.

I don't think you understand how nutrition works. Carbs don't automatically equal fat gain despite what you think. If you consume less calories than you burn, then you lose weight and if you are physically active you will burn even more.

True in most cases... but what if you don't go around fighting constantly? what if you're just walking around talking or crafting? Unspent carbs turn into fat for storage of glucose, so those carbs in that muffin are going to add up, especially if one of my characters has diabetes like me... oh wait, one does :open_mouth:

Provisioning buffs are designed to be some of the most potent buffs you could get in the game. Automating them would turn them into this semi-passive buffs that you would constantly have... then we'd most likely have forums posts requesting for automated food purchases when visiting merchants. Not to mention it would, then, overlap with enchanting.

If you feel the need to constantly have them, then the designer has done his job.

You don't burn calories by using magicka, that's mental activity.

So you pick, either have a crappy stamina build or be a big brained muffin eating fatty.

And ask any personal trainer if eating a muffin every two hours is a good idea. It's just not advisable unless you like chunky thighs.

Not all calories are created equal. Carbs are substantially harder to work off than other types of energy. It's basic stuff really.

I could also point out that a day/night cycle in Tamriel is much shorter. So two hours of our time is really much longer in Tamriel so those two hours are actually more like 6 or probably even more. Just saying.

No, I enjoy manually selecting them.
Three reasons as to why not:

    1. I would end burning through my Purple Foods because I tend to forget about automatic things.
    2. It should be part of your tactics to maintain your buffs, just like the skill rotation is. The game should not be doing that for you.
    3. There is an addon that tells you your buffs and when they are going to expire, then you won't ever run out of food related buffs.

Otherwise the next step is to automate our skill rotations for a fight. Then we would just get near a mob or player, and press A and fire off our skill rotation and hope we programmed better than they did. I don't think anyone reasonably wants that in the game.

True, true. Honestly, there is no way your character would get fat from this. Also, as it stands, there are a lot of people who rarely eat food... this would mean a lot of those characters would've starved

I never suggested that you would be forced to use the feature only that it could be an option. If your tactics are to change between blue foods to get the higher stats of what you really want, great. I mostly just use the purples. Your argument is weak, and basically boils down to nothing more than if you forget to eat that's your problem. I never forget to eat and I can eat in combat anyway which just isn't realistic unto itself. Keeping stupid and pointless things in a game doesn't make it more challenging, only more tedious. And ESO could use less tedious things. I could also point out that this is something that could be achieved by an addon, but I really think it's just something they ought to add.

In EQ2 you would auto consume whatever food you put in your food and drink slots. You could not put anything in those slots and instead just click when you wanted to eat. Poisons worked similarly, just right click and auto consume poisons as they ran out. Running out of food has never gotten me killed in this game but honestly I find it to be more annoying to have to switch slots and select a food while in combat. It's really nothing more than that and if you played a game that had this feature you'd realize it's not game breaking, just convenient.

Lazy much? Food lasts 2 hours. If you don't check your character window a few times in those 2 hours, it's your own fault if food runs out.

Also, you can eat food while in combat. There's no harm in taking 2 seconds to open your inventory and double click your food.

I think you forgot to put in your Opening Post to agree with you or else suffer your wrath. This is a public forum and people are going to have opinions. Some of those opinions are going to be different than yours. So, deal with that, as you told another poster who also disagreed with you.

So, lets get back to your premise that is already showing a 61% disagree rate:

If you never forget to eat, then why would you need this? Which by the way makes your argument really weak. Because you just stated that you don't need what your asking for other than you just don't want to be bothered with the mechanic.

And, for the record, I only use Purple Foods, just in case your were wondering. I am sure you were not wondering, just making assumptions about me to bolster your arguments. Which is also weak.

It is, it is just not displayed on the main screen. Pulling up your character screen shows you the time left on food buffs. Unless that is put there by addon that I am not aware of, although I don't think my addons would add this.

Fun fact of the day @SaibotLiu : Mental activity counts for most of the calories a person burns in one day!!
I could also point out that a day/night cycle in Tamriel is much shorter. So two hours of our time is really much longer in Tamriel so those two hours are actually more like 6 or probably even more. Just saying.

Doesn't change the fact that your brain burns a lot of calories...
I know...I'm not disagreeing with you. I was just adding to the argument.

    Ohhhhh, my bad bruh.
