Just an Idea Poll

just-an-idea has an idea, lets have big bosses for us to fight. They can be huge Daedra, Oversized Animals or Really Big Dwemer Constructs.

The Idea is that we can form big teams, dozens in a team, to bring them down.
They could even be Dailies.

I'm making this a yes or no poll, if you want variations of this, vote yes, and say what changes you want.

Well decent drops would be nice, but nothing unique, it's for teamwork and fun. And the challebge.

Would be just another thing for the elitists in their super-elitist guilds to brag about and taunt the casuals about:

"Hey, I took down Mesophisticallopodoptorhosteroustics today with my eyes clothes and one hand behind my back, naked, and using no weapons! What did you do?"

"Hey, look at me!" activities are inherently destructive to community because they drive a wedge between players.

I'm a casual player myself, and I used to enjoy these types of boss in Swtor, they were great fun, and the invites for them were always open, anyone could join.

I've never really seen that behavior. If anything, large world bosses inspire players to group up in areas where they normally feel compelled to stay on their own.

I can't comment about FF14, because I haven't played it, but in Swtor, the last MMO I played what happened is you got people advertising that they were going after the world boss (what they were called in that game) and if anyone was interested to whisper them.

You got people who wouldn't normally do it going after them, and some random but decent drops. The battles were all friendly (apart for the world boss obv) and people supported one and other. You even got people going after multiple world bosses and inviting everyone along.

It was all very convivial (I had to check the spelling, but I do use the word) and made it all a nicer place.

Basically Odin and Behemoth where random world bosses that would spawn once every few days which made them quite rare. But of course when they pop everyone and their brother ran to get them which usually caused the server to crash. And I mean the whole server whether you where part of it or not. You could be in a whole different area and the server would kick you for it. Also that many people in one area cause so many problems with slowing down to 1 FPS and even where the boss wouldn't even be visible. Comparing to how it happened there along with ZOS's amazing Server structure and super amazing ability to fix things. I can see it going badly.

Ah right, well in SWTOR these respawned after about an hour, but there were at least two instances, so it was two of them every hour.

We don't have the instances, but if the bosses respawned either every hour or every half hour, then everyone could have a shot.

If done right it can be fun and you make friends.

I haven't really seen this in the MMOs I played... such as Runescape, me and my friend would always join a random group of people to go march into the wilderness... wilderness was unchecked PvP in this day-in-age... and no one would kill each other, we'd simply charge to the depths of the wilderness and attack one of the world bosses known as the KBD, or King Black Dragon. It was quite a fun time and allowed me to make some new friends on the game.

At the same time, even if there are players who are boasting about how they killed such-and-such world boss naked... just ignore them? Who cares if they're going to boast and be rude about it. Join the groups of people who want to have fun and kill it. Just my thoughts

I haven't got far enough in SWTOR to really see any of these. I know in FFXIV it was a pain. In GW2 they made it work fairly decent. In WoW it always seemed like a cluster f to me. Rift did it pretty well.

I agree with you that if done right it can be great. While I really enjoy ESO for what it is, I really don't trust ZOS to get a lot of things right. I do give them props on their first MMO going as well as it is considering the size and complexity. All the same there are all the problems which come with that, especially when they try to "break the mold" on everything.

Ultimately I think in the long haul they will refine their innovations into something that works. In the meantime we just sit back and enjoy it for what it is.

My recommendation would be that they quit adding new mechanics and features and focus on content and bug fixes. Every new mechanic/feature, no matter how well tested is going to bring new bugs which just compound on top of the bugs they already have. New lighting, justice system, champion system, faceFX, and all this are great but ultimately useless if players just get bored and have to fight as many bugs as they do mobs.

Cadwell's silver and gold should have never been a thing. It extends gameplay of a single character by a lot, but adds nothing to the story. You spend 2/3 or more (considering the time it takes to go through VR vs 1-50) of the game, having nothing to do with the alliance you actually wanted to play in.

I don't know about others, but I would rather have rolled 3 characters 1-50 and went through each of the stories and waited 3-6 months for them to add a new area to each alliance that was bigger than the previous and maybe spanned a VR1-3 or something. Looking over a map, the only areas that seem to be fully explored in ESO are Valenwood and High Rock

Apologies for making it so long and completely derailing from the topic

No problem, I can understand where you are coming from.

There was one or two of these on every planet in Swtor, on Coruscant it was a thirty foot Robot, quite a challenge for low levelled players. And it was a Beast on Dromund Kaas, but people soloed that one when they levelled up enough.

FFXIV and FFXI do this well - world bosses that are difficult and feel "epic".

Could tie any number of things to them: A quest for a purple/gold tier upgrade material of your choice, vanity gear/mount/pet/costume, gold, loot, reputation/skill tree experience, etc.

Raid bosses require people to enter a raid instance. World bosses exist in the public world, and they can be attacked by people who aren't even in your group.

Yes, this is successful in some other MMOs. Heck, it's even one of the best things about GW2 and one of the few things I actually like about that game.

It should also have a chance to drop awesome stuff with a timer that you can't get loot from it more than 1x per day or get something that's epic or above, 1x per day. This way it can't be overly farmed, but still provide daily fun.

There should also be ones in each zone.

OHHHHH, my bad bruh! I thought you meant you took a quest to go kill it and I was just like "-.-... I thought we said they was random in the last thread." And yes, I meant the improper grammar to look silly. That being said, I would definitely be ok with a repeatable quest drop. In a game I played, called Last Chaos, there were items that dropped at random that were chapters of the book of life, there were only two, the quests though would give you a new pet who eventually could fight alongside you so it was pretty cool :)

Yeah I never played Last Chaos but I wish there were more items that just randomly dropped and had more significance than most stuff - like with the book you mentioned, or random bandits at campsite X dropped a locket to return - or just something. As of now I think there are less spontaneous quests. A giant boss dropping an item that starts a quest definitely isn't spontaneous, but it would add to the victory feeling probably by continuing the reward for killing it.

I really want something like this to happen, especially in Cyrodiil that takes alot of people to down. think it would be fun, hard to complete as achievements but only if they could spawn ANYWHERE so finding one would still be extremely difficult in the map size of Cyrodiil.
