Logitech G13 keypad and G600 mouse questions

neither of them have the upgradable chipset.

i am trying to do something that should be dead simple a single key that gives me sprint running. i steer with the mouse so i thought all i should need to do is set a key to give me shift w for a W checked in text edit that it was doing what i asked and then in the game it seems to want to dart off at a left 45• angle to straight ahead...

am i missing something dead simple on how this should work? i just got these two gadgets as a gift from a friend who is quitting gaming but i have the current
version software for them 8.53.130 and i managed to figure out that the reason the number pad on the side of the mouse was not working was because it was sending as if they were from the numeric keypad on a full sized keyboard (NUM)1 (NUM)2 etc. so i am not totally clueless.

i have bad arthritis in my hands which using these gadgets seems to help and since holding w and shift with my left hand and trying to use my left thumb on the space bar on a normal keyboard is all but impossible for me i am trying to find another wat to sprint and jump

I have my character running by default and use the middle mouse button to sprint; your character stops running when you go into sneak mode, so this setup doesn't affect sneaking.

I use the following setup where all the keys most used are easily accessed by my left hand while my mouse turns and moves my character:

    W - Jump
Q - quick menu for potions
    E - Switch weapons
    A - strafe left
    S - crouch
    D - Strafe right
    Z - Mount horse
    X - Move backward
    C - Use synergy
    R - Ultimate
    LT mouse button to attack
RT mouse button to mouse forward
Middle mouse button (scroll wheel) to sprint
Lt shift key for character menus

If your scroll wheel has a left and right movement, these can be setup for dodging by just pushing it left or right to assign a key to it.

I can also feel the age in my fingers, and these peripherals can really help you.

I tested and was able to put sprint to a mouse button. I used the third, far-right mouse button for this. I edited it and set it to keystroke, Shift+W and named it as sprint. Now i can sprint just by pressing that button. Toggle doesn't work because it means repeated clicking - not permanent pressing.

Some additional hints, as at least i had to think a bit before i got these right:
Remember to save the changes. In the Logitech gamig Software and in G600 section, Customize Buttons tab, there are profiles at top right. I have created a profile for ESO. After changing anything Save the changes. Click the the small down-arrow at the bottom-right corner of the button of the profile you use (comes visible when hovering over) and select Save. I have G19 keyboard and it has different way of saving changes.

You have three modes in your mouse you can cycle through. make sure you have the right mode. These affect much how the side buttons operate. I changed the lightnig effects so that the modes have solid colours red, white, green. Then i always know the correct mode.

Having the G600 myself I tested out if it worked for me, and just like for helediron it does.

Now, what I think your problem is, as the game recognizes the pressed buttons as Numpad keys, is that upon entering ESO it simply switches the profile - which the G600 is capable of, depending on your settings.

First thing to do though, is upgrade your logitech gaming software from 8.53.130 to the newest 8.57.145, as there was previously a bug where the program decided to switch profiles on its own (I should know, i had that.)

Now if you have that, go to the "Home" tab, make it use the Onboard memory and not the automatic game detection (the desktop symbol).
Then, go into settings - profile -> switch the default profile to default (if it isn't already), and change the persistent profile to your default one (or to <none> if you want it to change profiles according to the program you started). That should prohibit the G600 from switching profiles upon entering/starting different programs.
Once you have that, check/customize your keys again, and save the profile(s) as helediron described above.

a hearty thanks to all of you :) I have a bunch of things to try this weekend
my g13 is set up much the way that RS ram outlines

i am still puzzled why assigning shift W to a g13 key results in ordinary running (no Sprint) but forward at a 45 degree angle to the left of where you are facing with the mouse i don't even see a command for that result in the commands listing in the game
i will try setting up things in the G600 mouse first of all as once i discovered the way it was sending (num)1 rather than jus1 one and fixed it by

as far as i can tell 8.53.130 i the newest Logitech software for the mac but i notice on their website they have it qualified for OS X 10-6 to 10-9 not 10-10 that my mac requires I did find Logitech Preference Manager 4.10 which is for 10.10 but i think it ia not for these 2 products i am trying to set up

once again thanks for the help from all of you

i checked with both the G13 and the G600 (both the first version sort with non upgradable roms) just using shift w as a key combo key macro just acts as if it is aw being pressed not shift w hence the left 45 degree jog you get
I have no idea why this is so

I can't really explain that either, if it is not some kind of weird bug of the actual driver.

Might sound silly, but I'm guessing you don't have "Shift" bound to "Move left" in the Keybinds, do you?

Well if everything else fails, have you tried to simply deinstall and clean all your logitech related drivers, and reinstalling them? This tends to work wonders with computer related problems.

nope shift is the sprint key and pressing shift and w together on the mac's own keyboard does provide sprint forward.
i have asked about this on the logitech forum for the Gaming mice as it seems to get more traffic than their gaming keyboard forum but no reply yet...

we had a power outage here all day and just got it back after 8 hours (critters munching on wiring in the substation blew the transformers they say) so i don't know if i will get a chance to play tonight or not... dinner will be late and there is the cleaning i cold not get done to finish.
but i will be back trying different things tomorrow.

I don't know about mac, but you can bind two keys to one action. Maybe you can bind some other key as secondary for sprint and program that combination to mouse? You can still use shift+w from keyboard and dunnowhat+w from mouse.

nothing i have tried gives me one key sprint forward
I thought it might have something to do with the way the game reads a normal keyboard both of these methods give a capital w or W both ways give a W in a text document yet the game can tell the diference
use two keys shift w as W and gives you sprint
yet it knows that you have tried to use
    caps lock W
and does not sprint. you get the normal forward jogtrot

still the does not explain why a G13 key set to shift w is read my the game as aw pressed at the same time

and of course i replied that 53-130 is the newest for the mac from logitech but on their forums one user said he thought it was a problem due to the fact that they do not update the mac version enough. and another said that the first versions of the g13 and g600 with the non upgradable firmware are in essence orphans and my not even benefit from new versions of the logitech software

nothing i have tried does anything for the way both the g600 and g13 when used with so are sending an 'a' when you map shift to a key
the only workaround i have found is to set'[' as the the alternate key for sprint. this is parsed properly so a single key can be set as run forward sprint with '[w'
the consensus overran the logitech forums seems to be that the logitech software for the mac is at fault but given past experience with logitech no one expects a OS X 10-10 updated version of the logitech gaming software any time soon

Sounds like it's getting interpreted as Fwd and Left (or Right) at the same time.
Temporarily unbind L&R and see if you still get the 45 degree motion.

Bear in mind, also, you can have alternate keybinds for every function, which you can then map to the keyboard.

Last simple, yet effective troubleshooting method, open Notepad or the On Screen Keyboard and use the same mapping. You can then at least see what 'actual' keypresses are going through, which might help lead you to the issue or a keybind workaround.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

oh the g13 is passing what it is told to do according to the text displayed in the chat window and you can very nicely see it work when shift is assigned to its own key it is only when you have it do shift and the w to one key ( note doing this as a string assignment not as a simple W) that you get the effect of the a and the w pressed together....

for now i am quite happy to have sprint be the [ key as a g13 key assigned to the string [w does what i want sprint forward with direction controlled with the mouse

i have assigned the g13 joystick to give doubled ww aa ss dd key strokes for dodge and roll as i don't seen to get the timing right doing it on the single keys with my arthritic fingers

once i master the setup of the g13 and g600 buttons i think it will make a huge difference in my enjoyment of the game .just need to work out what command i put where

why i might even be able to do some pvp without the need of some sort of handicap system
