I can't believe this nonsensical thread is still attracting attention. Play or cancel, it's as simple as that. I see no shortage of people playing.

Why has this thread been necro'd? Did it not kill enough of our collective brain cells the first time around?

I don't really think 5 weeks is necro'ing a thread, especially if some of us still feel it's relevant (and given the events of the past week I think it has become more relevant).

Would you prefer I start a new thread in future?

I'm pretty new to the game, I don't know anything about the endgame, but I freakin love it so far. If you want a downtime so they fix things, then just stop paying/playing and wait. You don't decide for everyone else.

No one is deciding really, just discussing the idea. Could it happen? Well, it's not outside the realms of possibility but, ultimately, it would be the parent company, Zenimax Media Inc, to decide.

Also, in subscription based MMOs, telling people to stop playing is never a good thing. Pushing for things to be fixed and improved is better.

Lastly, people unsubbing isn't going to give anyone a downtime to fix things, unless so many people unsub that they actually do just take the game down with a view to doing a relaunch.

This post is a joke, posted by a simpleton.

Nice ad hominem. OP clearly wants ESO to succeed and suggests, in his opinion, that ZOS should take the game offline, sort out the problems and relaunch a much more polished product.

If you feel ZOS can keep the game running whilst fixing the problems, fine, say so, just don't label someone a simpleton because they hold a point of view you disagree with.

The only thing that we learn from threads like this is that people desperately want their opinions to be validated. If the designers of ESO admitted somehow that they'd failed - in some dramatic way - then their unhappiness would be justified.

If the management of ZOS admitted they'd failed that would actually be a start, not because it would justify unhappiness but because it could well be the first step towards turning ESO around into something really great.

For example, you *do* know that relaunches wipe all progress, right? As in, all of those real-world months of crafting research flushed down the toilet? All of the things that people have accumulated, gone? All of the hours invested in character development eliminated?

Again, not neccessarily. Those with characters in FFXIV 1.0 were able to continue A Realm Reborn with those same characters and with their progress intact.

The 1-50 experience alone doesn't warrant a subscription price though.

It does to me. I don't play that much, but enough that I get more hours of entertainment in a month than dropping the same amount going to one movie.

    YMMV and all that.

I do brain surgery and I pay others to program my games, I expect them to be as professional as me.
Well, if the game cost one as much as brain surgery did, and the consequences of a screwup were are as severe, then that would be a reasonable expectation. But it doesn't, and they aren't, so it isn't.

Totally different skills, no idea about brain surgery I assume it require very high degree of knowledge, skill and precision. However its done by an small team in a day then you start.

MMO is very complex structures who require large teams and years of work, made worse then you want to add new technology or even mix stuff who has never been done before.
The type of projects who tend to be delayed and above budget.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

OP=no idea how MMOs works. Just go back to Skyrim kid or learn what developing content means and stop making idiotic posts. What next? You will ask for refund for your precious time, as all ''cool kids'' did??

But what qualifies as a finished product as far as this game is concerned?

Funny but all new mmo is not finished when go live that is why game patch and expansion  WoW was not close to be done when it went live it was playable i reminder classic WoW have alot of bugs, glitcher, people fall throw world and we should even talk about all grinder you need to get to lvl 60 for the was miss quest at the end.

No mmo is not complete until there get there 1st patch to be total honest and btw grinder is still in WoW even today but at the end game you grinder gear every damn week hope you will get those set item you want.

My take on things is that ZOS are employing a perpetual beta model but they're not able to say so because beta access was free and now they need the subs.

I mention this thread in another http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/143523/champion-points#latest and how with hindsight closing the game would have been the right thing to do rather than trying to change so much of the game and *** players off when they try to level everyone for relaunch.

For me, I feel they could keep this version open for those who want to continue to play but stop updating it. The main thing is keep version 2.0 completely separate and release in another year. Update the engine, fix the code, fix the network, do what needs to be done. Currently it's like trying to fix turd in your soup by adding more ingredients, while you may get most things right, the fact is there is turd in there that won't go away until you start again.

I'm perfectly happy playing this game as is, even though I do want improvements to be made often and indefinitely. There are lots of areas that could do with improvements, but it seems that the devs are actually working pretty damn hard at doing that. And, even with the issues... the fact remains I'm having a blast playing this!

About the only thing I can think of that would make me "lose it" and give up the game completely is if they ever decided to "Close The Game, Give Refund, Relaunch Later"... that would be the end for me.

    I have two points to make;

    1. I'm tired of players threatening to cancel because of all the bugs and imbalances in the game. Yes there are too many at this point since launch and the CS will introduce more bugs and imbalances. I myself experience several bugs and crashes every time I play. If the CS update doesn't addresses these issue then I'm canceling. It's my money and my choice to continue to play ESO until then. So please stop crying on the forums; The game broken and needs to be fixed, we get it. We live in a free market system so if you think that ESO is not living up to your quality of standards for a MMO then cancel, it's your choice.

    2. I'm tired of hearing about other MMOs had the same problems that ESO had at launch and how long it took them to resolve the issues. This comparison is totally wrong. Many of these companies were charting new ground in online gaming so yes they did make mistakes. The ESO developers should have learned from these mistakes especially when ESO is a compilation of all the popular MMOs that preceded it.

Delaying the launch had been smart, closing the game had been suicide.
You only do that in the setting where the customers is running away as mad.

No MMO is done at launch and lots of the problems will not be visible until the endgame anyway.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

Why is this thread still going? Even from September the game is quite different. This only serves to spread misinformation to new players. It should be locked at this point.

Same thoughts here. A mod really should just lock or remove this already.

Old threads like this really should be locked. The circumstances under which they were created bear no resemblance to what the game is now; and people are just responding to clickbait titles.
