Guys, PvDoor only happens if you let it. My 4 man saved drake last night from a raid of some 15+. By chance I spotted them halfway to drake, we tailed the bananas and wiped half of them on the road. Then we bombed their siege line, that had already been set up, from behind and wiped everyone else.

This kind of action was pretty much impossible w/ FC spam, as anyone we killed would have immediately respawned and come back until we ran out of resources. Instead, what we see is what we get, each banana we peel is out of the fight for the next few minutes - allowing our ambush to actually be a viable tactic.

There is more to the meta than just having a bunch of 24 man raids zerg from one FC to the next now. Now it's actually beneficial to have smaller scouting parties calling out troop movements and watching choke points.

I dont know about NA but on EU there havnt ever been groups just spamming impulse actually harming anyone. It were the groups using well placed ultimatea, purges and groul buffs as well as synergies. That said these so called bombsquads are even stronger now....

Factions are definitely getting more aggressive again on Thornblade NA.

It just took time to get used to the tent changes.

Taking keeps against defending forces is much, much harder. It's playing the game on hard mode, but when you do it, it's all the more rewarding.

Figuring out defensive strategies is tougher when dealing with larger numbers, but we're starting to nail it down. Defenders definitely have to be more proactive (instead of waiting for people to melt in oil) and have a counter attacking force to push people out.

Cyrodiil was fun, even with the forward camps issues and crashes, before patch 1.5. Now i go into Cyrodiil and find only ganking groups. No action, just ganking.

    WELCOME TO GANKERDIIL.

Now gankers are happy and the chess players are stuck with checkers.

Ganking isnt action? Mmkay....so you ready sit and a keep and spam the siege button...HAHAH

Yep. All you have to do is look at the map. It's far less dynamic. FCs, for all their flaws gave mobility. Mobility creates action and strategic choice. Mobility was a key difference between WWI (trench warfare) and WWII (rapid maneuver tank battles).

You wouldn't last in DAoC release. The way you speak of it means you didn't play DAoC classic. You're Johnny late comer. DAoC release was EMAIN. That was Albion fighting midgard non-stop all day. Hib were the horsemen. Since Emain was in their land. When they died, they had to run, just like now, allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way back to the fun. So of course. Hib was the lowest populated realm. While Mid and Alb has all the fun all the day.. Like a BG (DaoC is where Battle grounds were created (I bet that's news to you newb)). We'd just port in and within 1 minute were in PvP. Hibs cried and complained. We're a golf course! Everyone likes to PvP in our land but when we die we have to RUN all the way back while they get to get back in 2 minutes... Hence why Hib was underpopulated. They didn't have FC's.. HAHA INsta PvP.

Yet, what you're use to is called Frontiers. Frontiers is like a fit. Its the same exact thing as Cyrodiil. The reason why I say that it's like a fit. Is that Matt Firor, the lead developer for ESO, hated us Emain kids. Oh he hated us. He wanted us to like to sit at keeps and siege them all day long. Not enjoy PvPing against each other to ignore his brilliant creation. But we did and he threw a fit. Instead of crunching the numbers and verifying that US (not you late comer) enjoyed Emain scuffles compared to actually seiging keeps. He invented Frontiers which forst us all in a Cyrodiil type of long run. Out of 250k gamers.. There were only 15k left after Frontiers. People try to blame ToA, but no. He tried to force his vision on us rather than understand what we enjoy.

That's exactly what we have here in Cyrodiil and its current patch. A game dev ignoring what the players like to try to make his masterpiece successful. Hes gonna force keep siege onto us rather than accept we just want to kill each other.

I just quoted you dude. Don't act like you know what you're talking about again. DAOC lost 235k subs out of their 250k. When WE (meaning me and not you) talk about the high prime time love life of DAOC we are not talking what you picked up on after we abandoned it because Matt Firor was having a fit trying to force us into keep seiging.. Doesn't work. Never will. Not unless their are player kill points to get behind the walls. We siege, becahse we want kill points. He wont accept that. You think of better times as AFTER the collapse of a game where you were good after all the good players left. Grats on hanging in there.

I hate these devs for destroying good games. You love, because you've never played DAOC. You played frontiers. Not the same the game. Not what we talk about when we talk DaoC.

Oh and here's another thing that you can't accept or comprehend. After Firor introduced Frontiers (basically Cyrodiil is a replica of frontiers) 90% of the players base was PvPing in Battle grounds. DAoC created battle grounds. They had one keep in the middle we would all fight for. The only people PvPing in Frontiers were 8x8 groups trying to prove their the best. The people who ignore their, whatever, were in BGs killing each other.

Firor wont introduce Bgs here, which he himself helped invent, because he knows it would DEPOPULATE Cyrodill, because the players want to PvP not shoot stuff at keeps.. He knows better than to introduce BGs. Hes trying to force keep siege on us... AND HE ALREADY KNOWS BGS ARE FUNNER.. SO IS EMAIN.. Force the players into his vision. Not, creat to the players wants.. That philosophy is why DAOC FAILEd and its why ESO is and WILL fail.

I played daoc from beta until 2007, Cyrodiil is much closer to old frontiers than new frontiers. I was a hib, and I loved emain. Lol. I soloed and took forever to reach fights. It was fine.

Oh that's awesome, but you don't remember the majority of hibs being upset by the ride back while mid and alb got back in two minutes?

Old frontier new frontiers? That's news to me. There was no old frontiers. It was DaoC classic vs frontiers. Don't know why you bring it up anyways.. You seem oblivious to the impact of it.

And a big edit... Are you denying what I say is true? Because it is.

The whole area in between is a flat plain deathtrap with very little LOS, and at both ends are huge rises (the nikel hill, and the rise west of the farm) that make offenses going up those hills murder.

So most sides pull back and play defense, ultimately leading to the outpost or resource just flat out being taken and abandoned.

That lack of activity in the Nikel area gets a wee bit old. We appreciate all the AP contributions, but there are times porting back and forth between Chalman and BRK constantly to handle one issue after the other gets exhausting.
