Never thought about it before but all my Vet characters tend to do their stuff and park up in Wayrest, suppose it feels the most like a ye olde market town :)

When I log out, I leave my characters in the bank. My DC toons stay in the Rivenspire bank, my AD ones stay at the bank in Elden Root, and my EP char lives in the bank in Windhelm. The bank is a nice, centralized location, and it makes it easy to move things between toons.

When I RP, my DC chars call Castle Ravenwatch in Rivenspire home, although ICly it is changed to my house's name. I don't have a real home for my AD chars, so I guess you'd say the Elden Root upper level is home.

As a khajiit it also fitting.

Elden Root is the official Dominion Capital - and happens to be the place I enjoy staying at most ;)

I like to stay at Rawl'hka and Eldenroot or even Belkarth. They are the easiest to get around and do all of your banking and crafting in without getting lost in a big confusing city.

If you're in Daggerfall, Shornhelm is a great city. Wayshrine, crafting, stables (if you're still feeding the horse) and bank are really close to one another, and enchanting and Alchemy are just a quick jaunt around the corner.
This. And for all of those reasons. I just wish the bank had more than two lootable containers in it. :)

Rawl'kha for my v14 main and elden hollow for my other toons.
I like the small community feeling in Rawl'kha, i see the same people a lot, it feels like a small world to me.
Elden hollow is great for leveling up crafting on the other toons, it is like 3 steps from the workbenches to the bankers to store crafting mats while deconning.

My main also goes to elden hollow to make potions and food, i have not been able to find these stations in rawl'kha, in the last few months LoL
Someone also abducted the mystic that sells soulgems, or she is always on a break when i need her.
Beesting, Bosmer Magica DK, AD EU, crafter
Slager, Dunmer Magica DK, DC EU, pvp
Farmer, Dunmer Magica DK, AD EU, trials build

Every major patch looks like the end of the world but somehow i just cannot stop playing.

On my current "main" I do all my banking in Vulkhel Guard so that I can pitch my trading guild to potential new members. On my VR14 crafter (has all the crafts), Rawl'hka because everything I need access to (crafting stations, bank, waystation) are close together.

This is a great topic and helped to highlight something for me that has been missing from my game experience here...

    I don't have a home.

In stating this, I'm not referring to a "house", but rather any old place you frequently go to hang your hat.

I quest and adventure, do the inventory / alt do-si-do and then...sometimes it feels like an activity rotation on a macro level.

While I may frequent some of the more pleasant or convenient locations to support the selling and buying of stuff at the end or beginning of a play session, I don't necessarily feel an attachment to any place.

Of course one not need wait on developers to code a "home", as this is something each individual can do for him or herself in a multitude of creative ways - though I wouldn't sneeze at player housing to be sure.

    Warm nights and pleasant days.

A lot of cool places in this thread. I'm going to have to check out that Rawl-ka place once I level a bit more (am vr5 DC right now). You all make it sound really cool.
Hope to see some of you visit my own suggestion from OP: Velyn Harbor :-)

Most of the time i just stop in whatever town i'm in at the moment. However the town i find myself going to when i do decide to take time off is Rivenspire. Everything is near each other and it just makes things so much easier.

Think Rawl'kha goes mostly for AD chars however it will be nice to know if other factions use this place too as much. I'm always surprised when people say they hardly see anyone anymore and when I'm in Rawl'kha it's almost like beehive.

Having finally reached Rawl'kha I must admit, I see the appeal. It's really nicely layed out and everything is good and close together.
Not as close as Velyn Harbor though, but the aesthetics of Rawl-kha are much better.

Rawl'Kha in Reaper's March. Everything you need (bank, vendors, crafting, etc.) is all in one small town. I can take care of business quickly and get back to the game, or just wrap things up quickly for the day.

My main is AD, so I am in the Rawl'hka camp as well. I'm not all that enthralled by the visuals or anything, it's just that I can make a nice tight loop to a vendor, the crafting stations, and the bank without any fuss. I'm always surprised by the amount of characters I see just hanging out and showing off their skills by the wayshrine. There's just some innate quality about that place I guess that draws us there. I hope it stays so vibrant.

Rawl'hka - this city seems to have the most convenient locations for all the major crafters. Some cities everything is just too far apart.

Add to that the waypoint portal is right there too. Can't be beat.
