Who's using chat bubbles?

Just wondering how many have turned 'em on? And--for just people they know, or everyone? I have them on, but pretty much don't see much effect.

Have they made things better, worse? No difference? In what cases have they been beneficial?

For my two cents, I really wish they had put nameplates in--this change is ok--but almost invisible for the most part. Much, much less useful than optional nameplates would have been.

Didn't even know that was in this patch. Pretty useless, don't need them or understand the use for them. Same with name plates.

They might be useful standing around a Group or Public Dungeon trying to assemble a PUG. Other than that, I see no use for them. I have a chat window, that tells me what someone is saying.

Now, until the fix the dungeon scaling, I won't be standing around a dungeon looking for a PUG, so I can't give you a report on whether I like them or not.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    Have they actually been useful?

I could see them being helpful in a dungeon situation when someone is calling for help or asking something--you don't know by the chat window who it is (no nameplates) without mousing over them, so it could make for a quick ability to see who needs help.

Same if someone out in the wild wants to group with you -- again, easy to miss it in chat, but if they stand in front of you and you have bubbles on it's nice.

And of course role players love 'em.

They certainly, though, haven't caused any problems having them on. The fact is, even in a crowded bank or zone, few people are "saying" anything. They're zone chatting, or talking to their guild, not just doing /say or /yell so all the fears of it making the game cartoony or cluttered seem completely overblown.

I use them and like them. It's quite nice when RPing, and I'm typing in a chat tab that isn't the RP tab, to be able to know when someone has said something.

Plus I like not having to look around when someone out in the world spoke (when it happens, anyway ._. Kinda rare) for where they are.
