Cant get worse right? even if we pay they seem to screw patches over and over.

If patch should be solving 10 things they solve 5 of them so 5 problems are left and then they make sure they create another 5 problems so they have still 10 problems.

I was going to say unsure, but honestly I probably wouldn't. I left EQ2 shortly after it became F2P. Once a game becomes F2P everything ends up behind a paywall. You end up spending more money than your sub fee just to get essential things.

Voted "unsure", but only because I never played a f2p game and don't know what it's like. Odds are against it though. I don't mind paying to play, but I don't want to the cost to become a factor in my in-game decisions.

I believe I'd play it still just because I like the game.. however I'd be disappointed and in search of a new "main" MMO since F2P games often come plagued with problems. Forget the often released P2W elements, gold spammers and bots become so unchecked it's ridiculous (change ip, make new account for free.... = spammers/scammers/botters paradise).

This game would lose much of it's quality quick. I'd rather keep this subscription based, tyvm.

What irks me is that in every case where a game I was playing went from sub to F2P, you're given the option of still paying the sub, but the sub doesn't get you everything in the game, so you still have to pay extra money on top of the sub if you want everything the game offers. If the sub, and the sub alone, would give you full access to the game, I'd be ok with a mixed sub/F2P model. But that doesn't happen, at least not that I know of.

SWTOR is the best reason why not, so is GW2. To pay for stuff like action bars, faster running, bank slots, keys to open treasure, to enter pvp or pve zones ...

    Honestly

Hell, yeah. There's all sorts of downsides to the F2P model, of course—but ESO's so pretty, I think I'd stick at least for a while, regardless.

What, another thread from someone who does not want to pay for the game they are playing?

You know the old saying you get what you pay for? It exists for a reason.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

LotRO went into a tailspin, quality-wise once they went "hybrid" F2P.

The gaudy store, the pay-to-win items creeping in, the constant nickle-and-diming, the illogical but irrefutable way that achievements and slow progress somehow stop being fun when they can just be bought...

I would never, ever stick with a game that's F2P. Two accounts gone the second it's ever announced.

Why "when"? Devs have numerous times said they'd shut it down first. By all accounts (what little accounts we have) subs are doing fine (regardless of how many forum-whiners say otherwise). They're updating it regularly, adding new features, and consoles are presumably just around the corner, bringing in even more revenue.

Seriously... what do you base the "WHEN" on that's not just subjective sky-is-falling BS? Oh--let me guess--a guild you're in is empty!? Horrors!!! Or--or--yesterday you logged on and couldn't find a group!!!? Oh--maybe it's because you've found bugs or balance issues in an MMO(!!!) so somehow that indicates F2P! Or is it that there's a lot of complainers on these forums(!!!!!) so the game must be tanking!!!

There's no--NO--objective indication at all that this game is or ever will go F2P. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

You think its up to the Devs? That is a laugh it is up to mangement and the bean counters. Devs only get paid to do exactly what they are told. I say this AS a developer making good pay. I do not make business decisions and I often disagree with elements I am asked to develop yet the choice is not mone so I deliver what was asked for by the business. And the businesses only motovation is $$$.

I remember the progression of decay after the Froobs came in. First "There will be no performance items in the cash shops" Second "Cash shop will only be items of convenience, some people have time, some people have money" Then came PvP brands, pots, skills, stat tomes and $40 horsehead broom mounts.

They were real sneaky with the stat tomes. To stick with their "convenience" mantra they inserted an item and gave it an intolerably low drop chance such that any reasonable person that wanted it would buy it rather than farm the extremely low drop rate.
