Patch 1.5 - how to give PvP the death blow.

Since the last patch, I've been spending 80-90% of the time in Cyrodiil either riding, waiting for a rez or waiting for no one to show up because people don't leave their keeps anymore unless they are in a zerg ball.

This is not exactly the "bang" I expected to get for my 15 dollars a months.

Look on the positive side, the Justice System (if it ever arrives) will allow for plenty of PvP. There will be no need to enter Cyrodill ever again. No silly sieges, no one yelling contradictory orders on zone chat and plenty of opportunity to cause maximum mayhem for all those PvE players. How much better could it get?

People are grinding their Undaunted skill for the passives and doing writs. PvP's not dead. People said the exact same thing after Craglorn launched, then people came back to PvP after a week or so when they were done grinding.

Plus, Thornblade was three-way pop locked same as it's always been last night... and the night before... and so on :P

Where the hell are you playing?

I played from around 10PM EST until 2AM EST at Thornblade NA and it was all 3 pop-lock all the way to 3 bars for all 3.... there were HUGE battles fighting off DC in Chalman all the way to Glades.... and a lot of keep flipping with AD from Sejanus all the way until the scroll.... Up until i went to bed, took us at least 30 min of intense (50vs50+) of EP vs DC sieging until we conquer Chalman.

Did I horse a lot? Sure. A lot more than pre-1.5. But that's not even 10% of the time. Most times I died, I wait until someone rez me. If I had to rez, I respawn at the nearest faction, or use the transport portal thingie and horse MAYBE at most FIVE MINUTES of between keeps. Usually 2-3 minutes. Longer if i get off the horse n stealth to avoid getting killed...

At 8:30pm Eastern Thornblade NA was locked all three factions.
I like meeting up with a big group and riding in to a battle, I think once fc's are gone completely you will start running into the other faction riding to the keep, and action all around the map will pick up..

I think PVP hasn't been better since before camps were fixed. The entire transportation system was broken. There were exploiters exploiting the exploiters it was that bad. Before these changes I was ready to quit.

One thing I would really like to see beyond the obvious fixes to lag/crashes/video card freezing is taking mounting your horse and using trans-stones off the restriction from using in combat. Getting stuck in combat at respawn can prevent you from reaching a threatened keep in time from the transitus, and mounting, well there is a horse stamina system in place that essentially prevents one from using your pony as a cheep escape. This also penalizes healers to an extreme.

I leave keeps alone all the time. In fact i went 60-2 last night all by my lonesome...its all about picking and choosing your fights carefully, and playing cautiously and conservatively, do that, and the kills will come to you.

PVP has never been better without FC, i don't want them back.

My experience has been exactly the opposite for the most part. Almost everything about PvP has improved since the removal of FCs. Tactics and strategy actually matter now, because if you fail and wipe, you fail and wipe...not fail and respawn 100 meters away...

Waiting for a small group to leave a keep as opposed to riding out by yourself is a good tactic if you aren't specced for 1v1 combat. Why build keeps if you can't use them for protection?

Yep - PvP in Cyrodiil has picked up for my guild-mates too.

    More tension. More meaningful battles.

They love it... and admittedly I do as well.

The tedious grind of Forward Camp after Forward Camp is gone... and we can actually enjoy the fights again.

Shouldn't ZOS have been able to predict that players would quit Cyrodil if they are spending 30 seconds in pvp, dying and then spend ten minutes riding all the way back?

Then again, plenty of people wanted forward camps gone, so maybe what the players wanted once again backfired on them. This game might even go down if they keep listening to a player base that don't know what they want.

I agree this game will die if they keep listening to people who are upset they got beat by intended game mechanics. Forward camps were INTENDED.

They may not have intended for people to implore the use of spies and subversion. But such is war!! Get over it!

Oh and ZOS .... STOP listening to people crying!! Focus on serious bug reports and lagg.

Other than that I think Forward camps need to come back. Make it so you can only rez at a camp if you die within its radius. Make radius smaller. And make them last less time. They last for over an hour I think.

Stop using the euphemism. It's not appropriate and doesn't belong. Games should be about a fair, competitive environment.

I like the change, but I also believe fc's should come back fixed where blood porting is not possible and red in a radius. Pvp is better atm but the risk of using strategy to attack another keep past the one the main zerg is attacking is to high since there is no room for error.

Its a video game that simulates war. How is my comment inappropriate? Why would you think that in a video game about war that there wouldn't be spies?

It is extremely competitive considering all three factions use spies and subversion. Don't like it? Then maybe this isn't a game for you.

    Try something like Spyro Idk.

And get over yourself. Its ZOS listening to people like you that is destroying the game. People who whine about everything that you don't like about the game and think its unfair when it happens to you.

Spare me the philosophical debate about it being wrong. It's not a cheat. It is not a broken game mechanic. It is a strategy that worked. And since it happened to you instead of the enemy you cry about it.

Its happened to me plenty of times. Just about to take a keep then bam a troll camp pops up killing our momentum. Do I come cry about it on here? No! I adapt and overcome.

This IS a game based on WARFARE! There I said it again. Either play PvE or grow a thicker skin.

Removing forward camps pretty much altogether has to be one of the single dumbest decisions made regarding PvP to date.

Why not implement the suggestion that people started making over 6 months ago that when you die in the vicinity of a forward camp you can use it - but only then.

The biggest problem with forward camp was the suiciding, and trolls camps were the secondary (although tolerable compared to the current status).

How does anyone justify having to wait 10-20 minutes between encounters in Cyrodiil, and when you die, you have to spend another 5 minutes riding back to the action.

I am (was) paying 15 dollars a month to get some intense action readily available to me - not to sit around in keeps and wait with the rest of my alliance while my precious consumables just tick away.

5 minutes before action? More like 5-15 seconds after stepping outside alessia. Maybe you should learn to read the battlefield or find someone to help you who does. Pvp is great at the moment. This aspect of pvp between keeps has been missing and keep lag battles get boring really fast. But because of this change a dynamic that foward camps brought to the fight of random spawn locations is now missing. I'm hoping this is temporary until they fix them for radius spawn only.

Brian this is really what we want to know, all these people complain but really what they are asking is if it's temporary. Please clarify, as of right now we are left in the dark with barely any information on the foward camp removal from the patch notes.

Because the game is not suppose to be a 1:1 representation of war. It is suppose to simulate a war in a context that is entertaining rather than horrific. Have you ever played the game "Risk"? That is a simulation of war strategy. You can't just say oh your troops are traveling uphill so I have the advantage because my troops are on a geographical mountain range. You play by the rules and roll the dice normally because altitude is out of the context of the game "Risk". Just as spies, as mentioned, is out of the context of the game ESO.

Things like "fairness" and "competitive environments" are essential aspects in making sure this partial simulation of war is an entertaining and lasting one.
