Option to have attr/skill point refund rather than it being default behaviour

Maybe next time a bunch of skills are updated, we can have the option to choose whether or not we want all of our attribute points and any affected skill lines rather than just having them refunded.

I haven't played for a week and I logged in for "some quick PvE" which ended in me staring at 40 unassigned attribute points and trying to remember where they'd been. The same with the skill points. Sure, it's a good opportunity to respec, but I was happy with 75% of my skills exactly as they were.

Given the option to refund/not refund, or at least some way to record what my previous set up was, would be great next time you do this.

If you'd like, I can pull up the hundreds of posts where people have demanded point refunds whenever something changes...

I think I said in another thread that people will complain no matter what you do (in fact I know I said it, and am about to bore everybody with the salient points)

If something changes, you get plenty of complaints, because they liked it how it was.

If something doesn't change, you get plenty of complaints, because this shows how ZOS doesn't care about it's players, whine whine whinge.

If somehow a change happens and everybody is somehow happy, you get a load of complaints about how they have nothing to complain about (no joking, it happened with SWTOR once)

You're both missing my point entirely.

I'm not complaining that it happened, I'm simply suggesting giving people the option next time. Are suggestions considered complaints now? :p

If complaining is so rife, I'd think that Zenimax would be more inclined to add more options rather than taking one side. It's like a big swinging pendulum with QQ on each side. Give options, people are less likely to whine about it.

    (I'd hope anyway)

    I absolutely detest this argument.

They're designing a specifically themed game, not an endless series of toggle switches. Sometimes you don't get options. You just get to deal with what the designers give you. And that's not a bad thing.

Actually... I never much liked options. Options can be confusing. ZoS, if you give us any more options, so help me I'm going to unsub!!!!

We're not talking themed story-telling here: we're talking basic mechanics. You want to unassign all attribute points and make me reassign them on the off chance I might be one of the people who will whine endlessly if you don't? I won't whine endlessly if you DO, but I will suggest giving players the option.

What is so horrible about this:

"The Dual Wield skill line has been changed in the last update. Do you want to respec this skill line or keep it as is?"

Agreed 100%. I wish ZOS would give you a choice whether to do it or not because it's hard remembering where each point was if you haven't played in a bit. The same goes for skill points as well.

Not productive. Not helpful. Not even amusing.

I get this option, especially as you forget where you had the points distributed, but is makes it more complicated, and more likely for something to go wrong.

ZOS chose a simple refund, and I can understand and respect why. They simply don't want the headache of an optional refund.
