Please put more communication tools into the hands of guild leaders and officers. I recently became an officer in one of my guilds with the responsibility of organizing events for the guild, but I don't have a good way of telling people about the events. The MOTD space--what there is of it--isn't sufficient to cover all of our guild events. Getting people to go to a guild website is difficult when most don't even open the guild panel to read the MOTD, in spite of how much interest there is in our guild events.
The addon that attempted to allow guild leaders to send their members mail doesn't seem to work after update 5. In any case, leaving the task of implementing basic functionality to the community seems unsustainable. It would be great if we could have a guild mail function available based on guild permissions that guild members could opt in or out of for a given guild. I'd rather risk a little spam than to have the community stagnate for lack of in-game communication.
Another option would be adding a guild calender/announcements tab to the guild page, and a toggle-able chat-box message with a clickable link to the tab.
