Why can't we buy soul gems with AP?

Is there a reason why we cannot purchase empty or even filled soul gems with AP? Surely I am not the only one who would buy soul gems with the AP that I previously would have used to buy camps.

I guess they want people to actively fill them, and use their purchase (empty) as one of the only major gold sinks for a PvPer. WarrioroftheWind_ESO✭✭✭✭Make a round of dungeons and loot any chest you find. That's what they're there for. I got myself a nice cache of 100 stones one time after doing story quests mostly because barely anyone's out there at any given time of the day, so chests are mine. All mine!0

✭✭✭✭I would love to buy gems with AP. I already spend an hour each day picking flowers for PvP pots. I would rather not add to that when I have AP piling up with nothing to spend it on. I want to spend more time PvPing and less time PvEing for PvP.
The only downside to AP for gems would be the gem selling economy but if you just made them Cyrodiil only then problem solved. it's not like people were making a killing on selling gems to PvPers, not while camps were around.Edited by Armitas on November 4, 2014 8:40PMRetired.
