Nerf to dps testing mobs?

I noticed a slight buff to some of my stats with today's patch, so I decided to head to the Rift (I'm DC) to test my dps on the mammoths and giants east of Riften.

As a sorc, I was previously able to pull ~1.6k by dropping my mines twice during the fight. Now, the giant's health was so low that it went down before my second set of mines even armed, but my dps was significantly lower.

I also tried the storm atronachs in Craglorn, same deal.

Why were these nerfed? These large mobs are pretty easy to avoid if you don't want to fight them, nor do you have to fight them at any point for a quest. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is annoyed by the inability to get an accurate dps reading without having to have someone heal you while you fight a heavy-hitting boss.

The game aims to fulfill the ''Play as you want" promise. Now it is possible to play most of the game including VR zones just in your underwear.Soon mobs will just die when you approach them to allow for the killing them with your mind and sexiness playstyle.

Don't worry they will not force you to play in your underwear. YET. :p

Because those mobs have always been such a great measure of your dps. Now don't get me wrong, it's absurd that they made these things even easier to kill, but I'd like to take this time to complain that we don't have "target dummies" or some such useless, huge hp mob to test different builds on.

Closest thing to a target dummy there was. But yes, I agree that dedicated ones would be great.

Whats up with cutting the mammoths health in half? I cant even get my rotation started without already killing the mob. I dont understand this change. Does anyone know of a new good testing area?
