Anyone else unhappy with the crafting writ rewards?

I don't know about you, but spending 60 vet ranked materials, to get a repair kit, a random (WHITE) weapon or armor, and a stone that I have hundreds of.... It's not worth the hassle, and honestly can't be what was intended.

Maybe if the point is to encourage players to craft, and give them experience in that line, I might understand it.

But we shouldn't be punished, for already having the 50 max

I assumed these were more intended for people leveling up their trades. They may need to work on making these more appealing for max crafters. If you are maxed out though, and get a "survey report" that could probably make it worth it. Have to see.
Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.
Werewolf is not equal to Vamps/Bats.

Do you at least get extra skill XP, or is it just the standard XP you would get from crafting said item(s) with or without the writ?

That alone would make it worthwhile.

The writs I've done so far (maxed out crafting skills), all provided me with more than enough materials in return.

Ie.. When I did blacksmith, the survey report generated more mats than I used, 3 fortified nirncrux, and 2 potent nirncrux. I was quite content with that.

And don't discount the value of the repair kits. Save a few of those up, and it can save you a lot of money in repairs.

Nirn mats are showing up in these? Even getting one makes it worth it. I wish this patch would hurry up and download so I can login and do a few before Zeni decides to nerf it...

For my blacksmithing writ I literally got just one diamond. The other rewards were only slightly less lacklustre. I could have vendored the items I crafted for more than the gold reward.

I doubt they'll nerfed it. But at the same time, they won't be selling at high prices for long.

I would hope not. I more so meant it that Zeni is really good at doing stupid things and they kept nirnhoned mats extremely exclusive for a long time. You can't even get them from drops at nirncrux mines. It's a nirncrux mine; yet no nirncrux to be found?
So I wouldn't be surprised if they accidentally included them in the writ rewards, and take them out in a hot-fix. Either way, thanks for the info.

I have completed more of these crafting writs than just about anyone. I tested them when they were included with the first 1.4 patch updated to the PTS. They were in such sorry shape that ZOS had to pull them from Update 4.

When they were included in the first 1.5 patch pushed to the PTS, I started testing them again and I have since completed a few dozen of these writs. Here is my take on them.

If you are not yet level 50 in any crafting skill, then I highly recommend you complete them as often as you can due to the Inspiration points (crafting skill line points) you receive. Between crafting the items for the writ and these inspiration points, you will level your craft even faster.

Once you reach level 50 in the crafting skill, things change. All of the writs offer quest XP, so if you need the XP, then complete the writs as they are very easy. If you do not need the quest XP, then you should use your own judgment on whether or not the writs are worth it.

Unless you want replacement mats or a little bit of gold, there is pretty much no need to complete the Alchemy writ. Depending on what the writ asks you to craft, you might be able to sell your potions to players for more gold than what the writ will reward you. If you are asked for a potion which players will not buy and if you have the mats handy, then complete the writ. I will likely only complete the Alchemy writ up to the point where I reach the 250 Writs Completed achievement.

The Enchanting Writ is worth completing simply for the roughly 1 in 3 chance of receiving a Survey Report. You might (it's not guaranteed) harvest 2-4 Kuta from the Survey Report site, so that is quite the haul. Also, depending on the glyphs and rune requested in the writ, the quest reward may pay better than selling the writ items to other players. I will be completing the Enchanting Writ every day.

I will also complete the Provisioning Writ every day. The quest reward will always include a recipe (could be green, blue or purple). Even though I know all of the VR5 recipes for my current VR14 character, there will be new recipes coming in Update 6 with the Provisioning overhaul. Not only that, but the writs reward anywhere from 10-20 mats that you previously could only purchase from a grocer. While those mats do not have much of a resale value, obtaining them from the writ quest will save you 630-1260g in the future which makes the Provisioning writ worthwhile.

I will also complete the Blacksmithing, Clothing and Woodworking writs every day simply due to the 1 in 3 chance of receiving a Survey Report. For high VR level characters, these survey reports send you to Craglorn. If the report leads you to Upper Craglorn (some reports do and some do not), then you will find 3-5 Nirncrux stones at the site. So, even though the crafted goods for the writ will sell to a vendor for more gold than I receive from the writ reward, the chance of receiving an Upper Craglorn survey report makes these three writs a must complete task for me every day. Once I have found plenty of Nirncrux stones and I have completed all of the Writ achievements, then I will probably stop completing these writs due to the lack of profit from them.

It's definitely not the end-game style crafting I was hoping for (or that I thought it would be) but does look like a decent leveling tool for those still building up. You earn pretty good inspiration for some of the stuff.

Apparently you can earn the map thing to the node in a small chance for rewards, but outside of that I didn't get anything worthwhile and I did all of them (except alchemy, it's bugged). In fact, if I wasn't used to crap rewards I would have found some of them insulting (one was one Almandine - which got probably deleted, the others not much better really). I think the only thing decent was the provisioning reward I got a few pepper which was nice.

I got a map to a bunch of special mining nodes, got 3 weapon nirncrux, 2 armor nirncrux and tons of voidstone/quicksilver/galatine. That was fine for me, I am sure others will get different rewards depending on their craft.

    Personally, I was satisfied.

I got the clothing survey report, which was underwhelming compared to the other ones you can recieve for Crag.

The only rewards I received today were intricate gear that sold for 280g each. Plus a repair kit for below level 50. I'm VR14 with with every craft already maxed so it's all kind of pointless for me. Nirncrux is a bit meh for me anyways as the market prices will certainly fall now. I'm slowly researching the nirnhoned traited gear but I don't craft for anyone else anyway so I don't really need the mats.

So I finally got my first survey, after another day of wasted materials.... And I can't even use it !!!!

I'm very frustrated at this point, because I specifically leveled up a 'crafting' toon to lvl 30 which was enough (with shards) to get all the main woodworking, blacksmithing, and tailoring skills. And that was BEFORE they added another 3 points to the line that aids in research times.

Now that my (crafting) skills are maxed (50), I'm being sent into the northern areas of Coldharbour for this survey. And it's obviously not open to me because I haven't completed the main quests past 30

Now I'm stuck with a character that has all the non-nirn traits maxed out, and apparently can't do any of the crafting writs or surveys.

I seriously think that better planning, and more warning, should go into updates like this that can cause the death of one of my characters

A friend also got Nirncrux out of a survery report.

Another got an alchemy survey and got 2 kuta among the nodes there.

I got a level 10 blue recipe (albeit drink) out of my main, who has 50 in provisioning, but no skill points in it.

I'm fairly happy so far. It will be a great way to level my alts so I can get 3/3 hirelings for everybody.
