Every time, also after every change to shadows in the video settings
What is happening, I surmise based on watching my perfmon in windows, is that the client is opening every dat file via pagefile.sys and creating a new shader.cooked file from the results, essentially "caching" your shaders
Due to the sheer size of the game's dat files and the time it can take to process the read/write (literally youre being bottlenecked by your hard drive speed here) it can take anywhere from 5 - 20 minutes, and it is annoying as all hell.
Not to mention that you will see massive spikes in CPU useage during this time. I have never once before this game seen a game do this.
yup happens to me almos everytime too lol, i dont mind tho cause usually nevver does it more then twice then works fineonlinegamer1 wrote: »Everytime there is a new patch (full release, point release, or even hotfix), my 1st login attempt hangs. By "hangs", I mean, I put in credentials, press "Log In", and I never get to character select screen, it just hangs on the screen with the desert pic.
I alt-F4, log in again, and everything is fine from then on... until the next patch, when it happens again, 1st time only.
Anyone else hitting this bug?
