I think the reason we can't is Hirelings. But I would like an extra slot or two because my other slots are taken up with Mules.

Which doesn't change how tone deaf the whole response is. You have players who will pay more for alt slots, but won't give you $60 + $15 a month for more slots. I know some people are willing to do that, but I can't imagine that they outnumber the players who would buy more slots to such an egregious degree.

I was very disappointed with Paul Sage's answer when I watched last week's ESO Live. I have two empty slots so far and as someone who sees myself playing this game for quite awhile, I can easily see this being quite a problem a year or two from now.

How do I get to play every race when there are only 8 character slots? I'm on the left coast and I intentionally avoided playing on the EU server because the lag would be horrendous for me there. So for me I only have 8 potential characters and PTS characters don't count either since they get wiped.

I truly hope ZOS reconsiders this for the future.

I am sure I will get flak for this but to those people saying they want more slots bcause they have mules taking up theirs, well get rid of your mules. Having mules and losing the slots is your choice and yes I have 3 myself.

This is going to be an issue sooner or later. I'm a casual player but have 4 mains and that's in what..six months? So what am I going to do another six months from now? I'm definitely not buying another box/sub and can't see myself ever deleting a max level character.

A good solution I think would be to have a new character slot unlocked when you reach max level on "x" number of characters or something. That would avoid the abuse of bag alts.

Yes, I'd like them to do this, if only so we can make one character of each race (plus a couple). 12 isn't a huge number, and I don't think it'd be gamebreaking.

Everyone makes good points. For and against the idea.

For those of us who had asked the question, be it in conversation with friends or Q&A's etc, if it's not just a few, but a good number of people, that means that there is a demand. And from what we've seen, the devs do listen to the community.

That doesn't mean that they will or will not allow for additional player slots. They may change some other game mechanic, or we may just be sol. But with as many options as this game has for ways to play, plus mules due to the inventory setup, it would be nice if something was done. As someone mentioned earlier, what happens in another six months from now when we have more content? I don't think anyone will want to delete their main.

I am actively leveling seven of my eight right now.

I hope to level the last one day too.

I am under the belief new content will continue to be added to this game. Such as the Thieves Guild and the Night Hawks.

I would like to be able to level up though those without having to delete my characters.

I understand solo instances will scale. I am for such scaling, still not the same as leveling up though new content on a new race/glass/gender.

The cost of setting up an additional character on an account can't be that expensive, or this wouldn't be a common addon purchase for most (if not all other) MMOs on the market.

I'd actually be happy to just play one character, if I can settle on one. With the character deletion cooldown that takes FOREVER.

Personally not into playing alts myself. I hate that ESO has classes and once I settle on a main character I'm just going to pretend other classes don't exist. But I appreciate that others do enjoy playing alts for various reasons.

The only potential problem that I see is hirelings - but there's an easy fix. Limit each account to 8 characters which can use hirelings. Any beyond that just don't get delivered.

And change the inventory system. Give us the in-game option to buy more bank slots and get rid of draft horses. In the changeover give players who have already bought and upgraded draft horses appropriate bank upgrades so they're not short-changed.

That way paying money to buy extra character slots doesn't get you any in-game benefit but still caters to altaholics.

I do wish you could at least have ten slots, so you could have a character of each race (and one more just b/c I like the even number of ten slots). But eight isn't bad. Plus they said 'no' when asked in last weekly stream about more slots.

I didn't realise that. I thought they used their own servers?

An 'addon purchase' costs money. I was replying to Nestor who suggested it wouldn't cost anything.
