PvP Frame rate

I noticed when I was in a huge PvP battle my fps would drop down to around 15 (high settings). So during the battle I decided to turn everything to the lowest settings possible and got the exact same frame rate as almost everything maxed out after the load screen finished. Any news on this getting fixed or how to fix the problem?

It's a CPU bottleneck, so changing the graphics settings won't do much to improve framerate. Nothing is going to change until they do some optimization.

I have an FX-6300 @ 4.5ghz and I hit 12-15FPS during large battles as well, despite also running a overclocked GTX 970. Outside of large battle and crowded cities I never go below 60fps on 1440p.

yeah... overclocking my i5 from 3.3 to 4.5 GHz helped to up my FPS in large battles from 12ish to 18 or so.
which, percentage wise, is a massive improovement...

does not change the fact that it's still terrible...
and worst of all: it used to be much, much better 3 months ago (rough estimate - before the whole "new lightning effects screw-up"

Yep, when i first load into Cyrodiil I'm like, "Mhmm... 58-63 fps huh? Did they fix something?" Then I travel to Allessia and soon leave because 10-20 FPS suck, I can't tell AD from EP because one second they're there and the next they're gone, oh and the constant client drops. You know, were you're still running around chopping away at s**t, and then you realize you're dc'd :#:D:):|:\:(:s :'(

I run a slightly overclocked AMD FX 8350 @ 4.2 GHz with a single NVIDIA GTX 760 and the same goes for me. PvE, low populated cities and small fights I'm good, still not what it should be, but 40-50 fps is fair enough I suppose. It's amazing compared to 15 lol.

Tried that whole "drop all your settings to low or off" thing... Same s**t if not worse! How is that even possible?! lol

It's pretty crazy. I get 60fps whether I'm rendering at 4K or 1080p, in most non populated areas. The graphics are nice, but not hard to max out. Once other players are added into the mix the frames just drop. I wish there was a way to offload the workload to the GPU since I have so much processing power not being utilized on it, but I don't know enough about programming to know if that's even possible.

Yeah, I hang in the high 50's to mid 60's when I'm out and about PvEing with a few people in the area but like I said, get to a populated area and it's a crap shoot. The game seems to spike a lot I've noticed. For instance I'll be running along in the 55-65 range, and then here comes like 6 people in a quest area or a dolmen and it starts jumping from 55 to 31 to 47, 20, 10 then back up to 60...

    Side note:
Has anyone noted a difference when EVERYONE in the area is in one group?
Probably be hard to tell though.

I've noticed that sometimes when I join a large group, the game will lag out for a few seconds. Same thing when I check the campaign score for the first time.

A lot of the lag is server load. Everyone's system crumbles the same at the same time in big fights AFAIK.

I got a 4670K @4.2 (modest) and overclocked 970. Anywhere in PvE (even Riften at busy hours) i maxed out at v-sync 60. Sometimes drop to 50 when there are a lot of effects going on.

But in Cyro, once I hit a big enough group, it goes down to 30. Once the pain train passes by with the spampulse, I'm sitting around 18-20....... ugh.

PvP framerates have been ruined by the so-called 'lighting patch' and have never really been properly fixed. What you are experiencing now is ZOS' seemingly band-aid approach when it comes to fixing these horrible regressions.

Got a 3.7 Core I7 and a R90X DirectCU II card at 2560X1600 with every setting set to max and ultra and even in the worst zerg fest I never drop below 40 FPS. If I were running at 1080 or 1440P like some of you it would be even higher so you guys are definitely hitting some sort of hardware bottleneck.

Nothing personal, but can you video it? I find it hard to believe 40FPS on the "worst zerg fest".

How about OS? Windows 7? 8.1?
    What's your internet connection?

This completely ignores the fact that it might very well be the engine itself having trouble with certain hardware configurations.

Windows 7, 8 GB (Anything over that is overkill anyways). Internet connection is solid but that should have no bearing on FPS really.

I could video it for you if you wish, I play all the time and I haven't had an FPS issue since they fixed the bug other than the occasional FPS bug caused by someone hitting you with Ambush that puts you at 2-3FPS until you reboot the client completely.

Yes I'm assuming it isn't a horsepower issue as much as possibly a Nvdia/Ati issue or possibly an AMD/Intel issue.

I'm suspecting the no animation bug is hardware exclusive and I do get that all the time during zerg fights mainly although I don't lag at all when they are working fine for the first 10 minutes or so before they bug out.

When I went to an SSD drive from a regular hard drive that really improved the performance of ESO (among some of the other things mentioned above). Decreases the read time of which there is a lot.

thats good to know. other than lower than desired fps the only performance issue ive had is mini freezes, which i assumed were due to texture loads as the usually occur when ambushing on my NB or streaking on my sorc

Yeah I use a SSD as well. Its been so long since I used a HD for my system partition that I for a to of people are still using them.

SSD is the single greatest performance upgrade you can do to your computer from a price/performance standpoint.
