Did anyone else get whispers from "The Voice of Sithis?"

So I was playing around 11:00PM PST and received a few whispers from someone named "The Voice of Sithis" with no @ indicating an account name. I couldn't respond to the whispers, and the account was apparently already added to my friends list, even though it wasn't.

Is a screenshot of the exchange. I'm actually baffled, because it wasn't just me, a few guildies had it happen to them as well. Is this something you clever dogs at Zenimax are pulling off? Because if so, that's really really awesome.

But if not, I have no idea what is going on, haha.

I didn't mean that, but it's too late anyway.

Sidenote, I really liked that quest in Khenarthi's with the vocal whispers. Even if it sounded incredibly similar to Illidan.

Interesting that The Voice of Sithis has no @ at the start of the account name. Therefore if this is legit it cannot be another normal player - would have to be someone at Zenimax.

As for having no "@" - of course not, the Voice is not in a guild with him so the addon would not show account names.

If you set yourself as offline, you can send tells but not receive them. That would be why you couldn't reply. They were offline.

Obviously if they were on your friendslist already but not in your guild it was somebody you know. Since they weren't in your guild you got no @name.

Yea this is most likely a real player messing with you. The other day I had a similar situation where someone whispered me, I got no @handle (And I have no addons for name altering either), and I could not whisper them back. The funny thing with this guy too, he was online (We are in the same guild). I mailed him and he told me that there is some whacky bug that prevents people from communicating with him using whispers, and he sent in tickets and such. So, that's probably what you got. Someone just decided to have fun with it, and made a toon named "The Voice of Sithis" to have a bit of fun lol.

I have no idea how this poem ended up popping to my head. But i'm pretty sure I connected the Voice Of Sithis to being a player jester, whom I ended connecting to Cicero.

So you know what? I think I'm going to leave this poem on the forums just to commemorate Halloween!

Could just be a random Rper. I got a random whisper from someone last night while I was at the Daggerfall stables. Something about a girl handing me the reins of my horse while trying to not look nervous and wishing me safe travels. I was mildly amused :P

I hear a lot of voices in my head, and this wasn't one that I normally hear. I even asked the Little Boy-Killed-in-the-Car-Crash and the Murderer-Who-Was-Executed-in-1957 and they both agreed that they didn't know him.

He seems to break character with the "Sleep TIGHT" comment, which I'd take to suggest it was just another player messing with you.

It's a very good prank, evidenced by how many people haven't been able to figure out how it was done.

The reason no "@" symbol appears is that it's their character name, not their account name. As long as they message your character instead of your account, you'll see their character name displayed. I'd lay solid money on it being a guildmate, since you had other people in the same guild getting the messages.
