Implications of no more Vet Ranks and Armour in 1.5

So, Paul Sage in the ESO Live 4 (http://www.twitch.tv/zenimaxonlinestudios/b/581386909 from 1:10) said that as of 1.5 people won't acquire vet ranks any more - Vet ranks will be frozen at what ever you are now and you'll accrue XP instead in preparation for the change to the Champions system later. So, if you're V9 at 1.5, you'll stay V9 until the V disappears.

However, something that wasn't mentioned was how this will affect armour between now and the full Champions system.

Will this mean you just can't get better armour, but be stuck at V9 armour? Will the armour be changed over to be XP level based, and people will be allocated new 50+ levels?

@ZOS_PaulSage‌ or @ZOS_GinaBruno‌ can you advise?

Thanks.

I too wonder about this, and more specifically, how will they maintain the current armor lvls without vet lvl, wil there then be lvl64 armor thats is equal to the VR14 of now, or what

I thought we would all become lvl 50 regardless of your vet rank now and all armor will become lvl 50 also? Freezing vet ranks would just annoy a lot of people unless the armor became lvl 50...

It's possible I guess, but this would then mean that all the different materials for V1-12 would become unnecessary, as would the skill points needed to invest to craft with them. I think it would cause more people to scream if their armour appearance changed from being V12 to L50, for example (even if they weren't screaming about that it wasn't V12 armour any more).

@ZOS_PaulSage‌ or @ZOS_GinaBruno‌ It would be really great if we could have some clarification on how armour will work with freezing the Vet levels.

In the summit, they talked about meeting certain Champion requirements. In this case a certain point total acquisition or total points spent. ie. Champion levels.

They did talk about Champion points, but they are not coming in until Update 6 as I understand it. However they will be freezing Vet levels as of Update 5. So there will be 1-2 months where there will be no visible progression (though the XP from your actions will be accumulating in the background).

I'd like to know what happens to the armour while Update 5 is in force.

(And for that matter, I'd like to know how armour works after the champion points are introduced, but perhaps that's another post).

you'll still be able to achieve vet 14 as normal, what they meant is that they won't be increasing the cap.

It says in the PTS patch notes for 1.5 that you'll still gain Vet Ranks, it'll just cost EXP instead of Vet Points.
    • We have been tracking Experience gains past maximum Veteran Rank on accounts in preparation for the Champion System. Veteran Ranks are now earned by Experience Points instead of Veteran Points. From this moment on, Veteran Points shall be banished from the land of Tamriel. When a Veteran Rank is earned, you will be rewarded with an Attribute Point and a Skill Point.
    • It takes 1,432,550 Experience Points to gain a Veteran Rank. We expect this to greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to gain a Veteran Rank.

My question is, what happens to the people who've already maxed out? We're missing out on 14 skill and attribute points. Are we going to get them added?

You will still gain Vet Ranks all the way to VR14. You just rank up via XP now instead of VP.

For this point, they said in Live 3 (I think that was where I heard it) that if you're V14, they'll allocate you all the skill points in 1 hit that you would have gotten if you'd been leveling after the Champion point change. However, I don't know if they mean this to come in at 1.5 or 1.6 (I'm hoping 1.5; I could reaaaalllllyyyy use the skill points).

Someone said (in this thread? forgot) that on PTS when you log in you instantly get the skill points and attribute points

True, don't be confused, no changes for V14 only thing that happens is that you get more attribute and kill points when it comes live
