I've never managed to break 10k, despite playing since early access. Oh...no VR level characters yet, either. Highest is 34.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

I buy and sell stuff occasionally, loot trunks when I see one, have hirelings on 6 characters. Played since early access and I have around 1.5 million in coins and maybe 1 more million more in gold+epic crafting mats. But I never really actively farmed for money, it just keeps rolling in.

I feel the issue here is how there's nothing to spend money on at level cap. I make my own food and potion. I have the mounts and the motifs. Than of course hirelings bringing me golden stuff x2 a day. There's like no place where you can dump money, nothing to save up for. Might sound like a luxury problem, but it's a bit boring.

Currently have about 460k on my main. Reason is, i was hacked, lost all my goods and ZOS refunded me about 650k. I did have a lot of legendary, epic etc mats though and about 250k gold. My provisioning and enchanting alt (VR13) has about 60k, my other alt, VR4 has 100k and my lvl 29 alt has 20k+.

I remember selling 2 epic motifs a while ago to one dude for 200k, good times!

lol how do you even get hacked?
Zhoyzu - Nightblade Alchemist (v15) RETIRED
    Has-No-Heart - Templar Enchanter (v4) FUBAR
Ambadassador - Dragon knight (v1) Naked with no future (returned from the naked realm to tank PvE)
Sakis Tolis - Sorceror (v10 in progress) Living Legend!

Xuhl'Xotuun - Warden Current Main as im starting the game over essentially with this character aside from crafting.

Several contacts of mine got hacked back in may/june. Most of the targets were somewhat rich and they weren't all as lucky with the refunds as Zhoyzu.

Lots of people got millions of gold in the early game by duplicating/selling high-value items.
Also by farming valuable Styles and selling them before the drop rates got nerfed.
I hope that all those players got banned.

I have around 3M in bank at the moment, 10 different 42K horses, all bank/inventory upgrades on my 8 characters, many full legendary sets to choose from and enough materials left to craft all the potions, foods and gear that I will ever need.

In ESO there is very little to do with gold after you've upgraded your inventory and horses. I hope the devs add some kind of useful gold sink like housing in the not too distant future.

By the eight, that's a lot of gold. O.O
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

Permanently between 50-75K. All I ever buy is inventory space for new characters. I change characters every so often to stay fresh. Imperial horse with saddle bags does me fine, my Orc could run faster anyway. :) Everything I sell through my guilds is at minimum price, I'm basically giving it away. If and when there is a reason to make more money, like houses maybe, I might start selling for the going rate.

I amassed around 780k a couple of months ago and now I only have about 60k. Splitting money between my main/alts and buying supplies to supplement my PvP addiction at the time made me almost broke lol. Ah well, I can't be bothered to 'farm' again right now. But I will...... in time.

On that note, what are your guys' guidelines for which items to vendor, and which to auction, etc?

It all depends. If I am leveling a crafter by deconstructing things, then it all gets deconstructed. If I need upgrade mats, then Green or better gets deconstructed, sell the Whites. If I want to make gold, I follow the guidelines above.

Now, as to Guild Stores, where you get a much better price for most items that are worth selling. If it's rare I sell it in the Guild Stores. If it's common, it gets Vendored.
    • I will sell common jewelry for 100 for non set items, set jewelry for 200 gold, unless it's rare or desired, then I check the stores and price accordingly.
    • Motifs, I have one copy of each in case I ever make another crafter, but all other motifs I sell.
    • I will sell mats for 600 to 800 or so.
    • I also make items just for people to research traits that I sell for 200 gold.
    • I never sell alchemy or provisioning stuff, but if I did, it would be at a Guild Store.
    • I also sell Glyphs in the Guild store, the ones I make that is, the ones I find get deconstructed.
    • I have never sold upgrade mats, but if I did, it would be in the guild stores.
    • I sell Green Recipes for 25/27, blue ones for 50, purple ones for whatever I think I can get.
    • Set armors I will sell for 500 gold or so, again checking stores to get a price range. Pay attention to the level of the items when pricing, VR stuff sells for more than L20 stuff of the same set.

nice write up - but you must be in more than 5 trading guilds - 30 sellling spots are not enough to run the business like this or you are lucky beeing in a trading guild that runs a store in craglorn
