Best ways to accumulate gold in ESO - how rich are you?

Hey all,

What are some of the best ways you've found to accumulate gold in ESO?
What is the most gold you've had?

I was talking to a friend last night who was surprised that I could afford to buy a second horse for ~40K. He just hit VR1 and said he's never had much more than around 20K gold. That seems pretty low, so I'm sure there's room for improvement there.

The most I've had at one time was around 65K, then I bought a horse and respec'd a few times. Now I sit around the 20-30K mark at VR3. I feel that's decent but not great either. Pretty sure I've read others stating they've made millions - though I am pretty causal compared to some.

I am poor as a warehouse rat most of the time. The most money I have ever had was whatever it cost me to buy the most recent bank space upgrade. I pull in about 2,000 gold a week from trading in a good week if I am lucky.

I can't speak for others, but I seem to spend my ingame money, I am alway saving for a new horse or backpack upgrade (or bank) or buying stuff I want (raw materials incase your wondering).

But there are people in Chat regularly selling stuff for 100K+, sand not that long ago people were saying 500K for certain stuff, so money isn't a problem if you play long enough. Which is a fairly Typical problem for most MMOs, ie the people in the endgame have too much money, the people getting there have too little.

Selling gold upgrade materials I get from hirelings and refining raw ingredients.

Other than that, PvP daily quests and the 60+ gold from each bag.

Lots of people got millions of gold in the early game by duplicating/selling high-value items.
Also by farming valuable Styles and selling them before the drop rates got nerfed.

Cool, thanks for the info guys.

I've played since beta and launch but never focused too much on trying to make money. I sell a portion of my loot to vendors, and use the other portion for crafting. Selling stacks of mats is always a good way to make coin. I think some players just find a good grinding spot, then grind and sell the loot - sounds a little boring but maybe effective for profit.

The most gold I've had was about 170K. I hover about 110k to 140k. I'll have more when I'm done buying bag and bank space.

Been playing since early access, and I've never really "wasted" my money on useless stuff since I'm a big time hoarder. Both character bags and bank is fully upgraded, and I currently have 350k sitting and waiting in my bank until housing comes around so I can waste it all in that.

My method? Simply not buy useless stuff and loot all gold you can. If you find a rare item? Get rid of it quickly before the prices drop, which they -almost- all the time does. I was lucky to find a few rare recipes to begin with, but over the last week I've earned around 130k on Nirncrux farming. Which right now is waaaaay too easy money, espically since they sell like hotcakes!

Most I ever had was 300k, someone hacked my account and sold all my stuff (lots of legendary mats all gone!), so ZOS refunded me 260k gold on top of the 40k I already had. I'm only at 50k now though

What are some of the best ways you've found to accumulate gold in ESO?

completing quests, of course. otherwise, I'm left to collecting plants, water, ore, and recipes. I'm Veteran 3 (almost 4) with my newest character and find that I'm in the same position I was in with my first Veteran--I'm broke as hell.

my logic with my first Veteran was to make another character to help out with the gold dilemma, but now I'm realizing that it's happened all over again (though no one told me that I had to develop an emotional attachment to this newest character and play the sh*t out of it...)

What is the most gold you've had?

it must have been in the beginning, and it must have been around 50,000.

I think some people make a boat load of money by refining raw mats and selling the tempers. Finding one legendary temper in two stacks of refinement basically negates the cost of the stack. Then plus all the other tempers you'd find from it, you've made money.

I'm not very good at making money, being that alchemy is not a money maker, but I'm very good at saving my money. Most I've had at one time is 120k. Dropped about 40k recently rebuilding my character, but I'm slowly working my way back to 100k.

I consistently had around 20k until I joined a trading guild. They have a kiosk but it's just one of those off by a wayshrine by itself. Nowadays I'm running around with 100k most of the time. It helps that I'm level 50 in provisioning, alchemy, clothing, smithing, and woodworking and now I have a venue where I can put them up for sale and not have to constantly deal with zone chat.

Also I've found two daedric motifs and an ancient elf and 5 or so purple recipes to sell in the guild store. So I guess the most useful thing was getting to Cadwell's Gold.

Only if having major amounts of ingame cash is important, to me the main thing is to have fun. If what you do rakes in cash, great, if not, well at least you're happy.

You can make some decent money with alchemy by selling the popular tri-pots, I sell them regularly in our guild store.

Alchemy can be a very profitable profession. If you make the VR5 Bugloss/Columbine/Mountain Flower tri-pot, you can sell a stack of them for 8K-10K in Cyrodiil. You will need to decide if that is worth the time needed to farm 25 of each plant along with 25 Cloud Mist.

Impossible to say, situation changes all the time, but different servers have different amounts, and sometimes the different motifs sell for different amounts somtimes they sell for the same amount.

Or to put it another way, they are worth whatever you can actually get for them.

I farm items make some items then sell them to NPCs. So I make money while leveling crafts. Though it takes a while. I sell rare tempers and what not on guild store. I I want just a little bit of money I start an alt and speed run quests for the first few
Zones then deposit the money in the bank.

Is provisioning very profitable in general?

I currently do smith/cloth/woodwork and don't find there's much money to be made there from the items I actually craft. Maybe I should take up provisioning on the side.

The purple food recipes that require provisioning levels of 6 and 3 in the respective areas to make will sell for 10-12k. But these are the VR 5 recipes. There are lower level ones that won't go for as much but still more than 250g.

Make an alt. Complete all the quests in a single zone. You will have 10k gold just from doing this. Then sell all the crafting materials you have collected while completing these quests. This will get you another 10k gold.

In summary, you get 20k gold very, very easily for completing each zone. This means that a new player should be able to buy a horse in zone 3.

Provisioning can be, if you can make blue or purple recipes, especially for higher VR levels. Downside is most of the recipes that sell require rare ingredients, but not all of them.

I would recommend that you look at the prices for food on guild vendors, it should give you an idea if you want to bother.

There is not a purple recipe in the game that sells for less than 1000g. Many of the purple ones below the VR5 level can fetch five figure prices. The purple VR5 recipes sell for less due to the supply but the food recipes can still command high 4 figures to an occasional low 5 figures for the Consummate Honey Brittle recipe.

Haha alright, well I guess someone will probably snag that purple recipe up for 250g pretty quick.

As suggested above I think my long term goal will be to make an alt that is generally more focused around trading and crafting. I've only got one character so far (at VR3) and have just had such an awesome time playing through the game that I haven't focused as much on trading.

Of course the answer to this question is going to differ by player level; if you have access to Cyrodiil then doing the daily quests I would say is the most profitable (unless they have changed the return, you could easily pull a few thousand a day). Also, material farming in Upper Craglorn which can reveal Nirncrux; Nirncrux going for between 10K and 15K, not to mention the mats which you can sell as stacks of 100 for about 400gold to vendors.

Yes, Consummate honey brittle or fish sticks are the best ones to have because the ingredients are not absurdly rare. The Divines help you if you need tomatoes or oats for your purple recipe. Every day I pray my hireling sends me tomatoes, because having to buy them from players cuts into the profit margin. You can make 4 servings at a time with skill points invested and each serving consistently sells for 200g. Enriched sweetrolls sell pretty well too for a blue food.

If I need to make a quick 20K, I farm public dungeons or the road outside the Vile Lab (although that will get nerfed with 1.5 for VR2 and above). In about an hour I can loot enough to sell to Vendors for base price to get 20K. I will keep the Blue and better items, or any set items I might get to sell in the Guild Stores.
