Gedalya✭✭✭✭✭I'm not even sure where to begin with this thread: Craglorn is great; I get that it may not be for everyone, or that some who would enjoy it are off put trying to group, but those peoples, and those qualities hardly make it a write-off. I'm in Craglorn quite a bit with my Vet 14 Sorcerer. Honestly I can't wait for the Naga in the next Adventure Zone.2 -

VR10??? Lol, i'm still stuck at VR2. I refuse to do Cadwell's silver and gold so i'm well and truly screwed for levelling purposes. Can't wait till they revert VR points back to XP and I can actually start gaining in levels again....

I don't refuse the new zones...but only being VR2 there is like 1 mob I can do (dont give VR points thou) and the rest start at VR5 so not really possible as solo player.
I refuse to do Cadwell stuff as I chose my faction for a reason and the hell with other factions. Only way i'd consider doing them was if I was a spy and was sabotaging there efforts. Not a flying codpiece would I ever think of helping them.
As for what i'm doing now.....yeah I ask myself that ALOT.....Being First is not the prize, it just mean's everyone can stab you in the back.2 -

Don't see how this will change anything. VR points or EXP points you'll still have to either quest Caldwell's silver/gold or grind to get the points. 0 -

✭What's the fun for people to just level to the top level and gear as fast as they can then stop playing until next update? I don't understand the appeal to this type of play. Zero fun to it.it's like they just do it to reach that point so they can stop playing again until new content comes out
Some people need to create a reason to complain. They bring it on themselves and deserve no sympathy as far as I am concerned.

Shouldn't be the only choice though imo. I finally got sick of being annoyed with the opposing faction quest lines. I grinded my main, and two of my alts to V14 in Craglorn. Even moved my crafter to V5 last night...
What's interesting about this to me is that now that they are V14, I don't mind one bit running into their zones and grabbing every skyshard and mages guild book I can find.
I think the issue is that there are too few players that share or have any empathy for these sentiments.

Agreed it's the only reason I'm finishing Caldwell's gold. Caldwell's silver & gold was prolly the worst thing they could do to the game...1 -
Evandus✭✭✭✭Sure. But, at least for me, there is exponentially less annoyance and frustration going into opposing factions for skill points when your leveling is done.
This isn't because of ease of play. It's a thematic preference. I had no issues with the difficulty of the mobs when people were up in arms about them. My sole issue with doing opposing faction questlines the way they are is that I have absolutely zero interest in helping them. If I landed on the shoreline, I'd proceed to burning everything to the ground...3 -
I love Solo PVE. I've found that grouping has been too much of a pain. I like to get in the game and go. I hate relying on other folks, though I will admit it can be fun to group at times. If ZOS had built a group-friendly game I might actually consider Craglorn a good idea. But, what with phasing and a sham LFG tool, it is mostly wasted content and mainly good for grinding.1 -

I'm a refugee from playing Cryptic games.
Some things much worse they could do to the game.
Rampant monetization: See a chest and need a lock pick to open it? That'll be a buck in the store. Want to upgrade your gear from white to green to blue to purple? Yeah, you're going to need to cough up for these temper items from the store. What do you mean you want to use more than one at a time? That's not how this works, take your 12.5% chance to upgrade and be happy with it... and of course f'ing lockboxes. Lockboxes for EVERYONE! Oh, and I almost forgot, everyone's favorite; respecing will cost you real money.
Mindless dailies instead of content: You've hit level cap? Great, here, go kill ten regular enemies, and come back here for 100 whatever points, that will slowly work you towards being able to have a single VR1 purple.
Of course, that's not the only possibility, there's always, "so you hit the level cap, that's great, instead of actually letting you get blues and purples at a reasonable rate, we're going to gate them off behind dungeons, then we'll ramp the difficulty of those dungeons up so that any one player can tank the entire run by being just slightly behind the ball. Then we'll add a 24hr timer once you enter the dungeon, but before you finish it, meaning if anyone rage quits, the entire team will be completely screwed over. Of course this will encourage teamwork, instead of leading to elitist behavior, excluding most players from the dungeons, and any progression once they hit level cap. To further encourage this, we'll balance the late game solo content so it's theoretically completable without hitting dungeons, but in practice... we all know that's not going to happen, after all, we need to incentivize play somehow, right? Finally, we'll make the players roll against each other for all the loot in there, because putting all that effort into something knowing you'll get a reward out is way too easy."
Yeah... that last one's not from Cryptic, but some of you already know what I'm talking about.
Cadwell may not be your cup of tea, but it's a fantastic option for players, and it opens up a ton of content for individual characters. Particularly for players who might not want to run three characters.
I called it New Game + zones earlier, and that really does hold true. It lets you get optional, higher level zones, so you can keep doing content on your characters. It might work better if you had access to all three zones in Silver and Gold (as alternate maps), so you could choose to replay your own alliance, or either of the others, with, again, access on the gold to all three zones. But... it's far from the "worst thing they could have done to the game."
It actually does something I don't think I've seen from an MMO ever. It gives you a ton of non-grind endgame content. That players then choose to grind with it... isn't surprising. But, there you go.Edited by starkerealm on October 27, 2014 5:05PM2 -

Come play some multiplayer somewhere. You will not be able to compete unless it's all console. That should give you a clue.
I take it you fell into a deep sleep in the 90s and just awoke. Just to bring you up to speed, it's now 2014 at the time of writing this and consoles are no longer inferior when it comes to FPS competitive or cooperative play.

On topic: I like Craglorn overall and doing all of the quests was actually fun for me. Maybe if people leveled at least one character the normal way they would appreciate the game more.

NadiusMaximus✭✭✭✭✭I've come to think crag as a massive 4 man dungeon, with dungeons inside of it. As long as I put those blinders on I like it. When I look at as what it is, an area full of huge mobs that can't be soloed, it sucks.

For those of us (read: all the normal players) who have leveled normally, Craglorn is incredibly fun and challenging. The quest lines in both regions are awesome, and the group instances are as good as, if not better than, many of the VR dungeons.
This. I really like the idea of a group zone. There are plenty of other solo zones to explore!
I will never understand the whiners who complain that group content is not soloable. I also live in Australia, and was able to get through the content without too much trouble - and that was months after Craglor was released, so it is not like I was able to ride through on the initial wave of players.
What I see in craglorn is mindless grinding though. Play the damned game guys! I got to vr11 before even stepping foot in craglorn. I got to vr 12 by doing the group quests. Grinding just kills the fun in any game.

Refuse? Fine, but then why complain that there is nothing to do? Also, you can get a lot of xp from running dungeons, clearing dolmens and group bosses. Yes, these require groups, but... This is an mmo, and seeing that you "refuse" to do any of the solo content... Not sure what else you can do.

Which is why i'm not doing anything with that char anymore or the other one. I'm waiting hopefully for a better system to drop on Patch 5.
