Can't upgrade quest items?

I haven't quested in awhile (pvp all day) so could someone help me remember. Is it normal for quest rewards to not be upgradeable? I have a quest reward sword called "Riven Hourglass, sword of Titus Valerius". I would like to upgrade it but it's not even in the menu when I try.

Hmm, I have broken down every quest item I have been given so not sure on everything quest related.

However I do remember not being able to improve the Purple staff given as a reward for the MQ (it would have been a quick way to make something Legendary), so it's possible that quest items can not be improved.

Which is silly really. It's not like most quest rewards are so good that someone would want to keep it around.

Since the beginning you have not been able to change the enchantment of many quest items. I had no idea that you could not improve them though.

Yeah it is a green quality sword and I would like to use blacksmith station to make it blue or purple. But it doesn't show up.

I wouldn't mind changing the enchantment, that probably works, I'll check.

You don't have the item equipped, do you? I don't think you can upgrade an item while you are still wearing it or wielding it.

No it's not equipped and you're right you can't upgrade something while it is. I like the blade and wanted to upgrade it

Was just a guess anyways. Never actually tried to upgrade quest rewards.
