If you need a mentor I'd advise picking one from the opposite side. There is only so many things people can tell you. If you're on TS with someone else they can *show* you. I've trained a few people this way and find it much easier doing so with people of the opposite faction.

Ezareth can only teach you the art of running.

    Let me summarize.

Max your magicka. Max your magicka regen. Stack your shields.

    1. Initiate mage fury spam.
    2. Someone looks your way? Bolt escape 4 times the other way (if you're on your period and feeling especially jittery, go for 6 times for good measure)

    3. Initiate dark exchange for magicka.
    4. Look to see if anyone followed you. If not move back towards the real fight. If someone did follow, Go back to step 2
    5. When you feel like someone has spent sufficient stamina/magicka chasing you, turn around and check their class. If it's a DK, go back to step 2, if not, continue to step 6
    6. Check their level, if they're vr14, consider going to step 2
    7. Check their name, if they're anyone worth their salt, immediately go to step 2, if not, go to step 1 with mage fury spam and hope that low damaging skill can bring someone's hp low enough for the execute to proc

Note: if at any point during this logic flow your hp drops below 80%, immediately go to step 2. In addition, if your mom screams from upstairs that it's time for dinner, use step 2 to get somewhere safe, make sure to rub yourself to a picture of your car with a personalized vanity license plate with your in game name (cause it's only a game), and run upstairs to your mom and tell her you love her for buying you that car.

As Hova can teach you the art of destro spam.

    Step 1: Batswarm
    Step 2: Impulse
    Step 3: Self-Explanatory

Oh and if you're ever overwhelmed, just resort to Step 1 to save yourself.
EDIT: Optional Step 2.5: Throw a little Elemental Blockcade in the Impulse spam mix.

Beats running. I'll compare it to my notes.

And Hova can teach you the art of leading a guild that specializes in dying to carebears... until a real guild shows up and carries him to victory.

you could take the easy way out and go all LA with a staff(I call them adamantium sticks now, for reasons you will soon see, if you have not already) and hold up block and spam crushing shock/BE and some self heals.... or do it with a shield...

or you could be stubborn like me and many others, and use the crappy non LA non stick/shield/bow builds just for the heck of it.

the best way to learn is to just play it and learn it by experience. yes, it can be....... frustrating... but it is the only way to learn in this game.

ask someone that is good at the game(not me) for advice on a decent build, then have at it. the rest you will learn as you play.

My biggest frustration is when I try to fight people and im about to win and BAM 12 of their friends show up and use me like an accountant in prison.

Then I get frustrated and go WHY am I pvp'ing.

Then I realize I need caltrops and other goodies...and do it again.
