What happens if 2 teams of the same alliance are slated to play against each other?
Let's imagine it's a 16 team tourney with traditional single elimination and seeding is configured to not pit 1 alliance against itself in the first round. What happens if you have a draw in second or third round? Who wins the tournament if it is shut down due to competition limitation during the 2nd round of 8 teams? Do you lose the integrity of the original tourney seeding in order to continue competition only for it to possibly fail again in the semis and finals? Who decides the potentially necessary reseeding after the first round results show a lot about the teams' skill levels? If you're swapping seeds like that then you might as well just pick a team in the first round and give them the dough.
Or will this be mildly similar to how regular season division champs are decided in the NFL (American football) or how the new American collegiate football championship selection committee decides based off of record/scores/performance?
Each team in every alliance plays each of the other alliances teams once. W-L Records, scores and team deaths/kills accumulate into an alliance ranking. That alliance ranking decides which team from each alliance goes to the seeded tournament. Since there are only 3 alliances then the team/alliance with the highest calculated/accumulated rating gets a first round bye. The #2 and #3 teams play each other in the first round. The winner goes on to play the #1 in the finals. Would be cool to have some sort of fireworks trinket huh?
*If your rules aren't what were advertised earlier this month then disregard that last bit about kill/death etc but I think it's helpful to mention to say the least.
Problem with that is the tournament then becomes painfully long and if champ selection can't be decided accurately off of group/season record then it's based off of who beat whom and by how much or the performance of the team (K/D ratio or Knockdowns similar to boxing). Then it might be a good idea to pick a separate date for semi finals and finals.

We've successfully completed a few 1v1 tournaments so far. Our last tournament had 15 EP 8 AD and 7 DC.
When we are met with ties, we use a control group/player to serve as a barrier/filter between the teams.
It's not easy, but it's definitely worth the trouble to organize something like this.

For those unfamiliar with it, you play multiple matches against other teams. After a predetermined minimum number of matches played by each team (which should be decided based on the number of teams in attendance), the teams with the most points would enter the finals.
Just saiyan
Glad someone said it. Probably the best bet is like you said, some sort of final play off with the top guild team in each alliance based on W/L record. What happens if 2 teams of the same alliance are slated to play against each other?
Stuff like this makes me think we need to recruit more, I don't think we can field 8 regulars. Maybe next time, but I will be watching the proceedings with great interest.

Also is there a time limit on the fights before a Draw is declared? ( =

Much the same boat. Vice had 8 regulars a month ago, but now we can barely scrape up two or three. Yeah, even a small guild like ours lost half our members.
The state of PvP is really showing through.

Well ours isn't like that, we're small group of friends and recruit selectively. Hard to find people who enjoy our play style, even had to level our own Templar for 4v4 stuff. But this makes me want to try harder on the recruitment side of things.

Probably a silly question, but it'll be streamed right?

I would love for you guys to participate.
Maybe you can see the work and effort we put in to organize events like this and out of appreciation for what we do you will stop attacking outnumbered and off guard duelers with an organized guild.
Registration opens tomorrow! I'll make an announcement when it does open.

It's only registration. The tournament isn't until after the 1.5 update comes into the game.
